Chapter 3

So, I received the best care. At the request of the townspeople, Mayor obtained a holy pill from the sacred temple for me to take, which is why I survived.

Originally, some residents even requested my pardon, but Derek York somehow managed to prevent Mayor from agreeing in the end. According to the court’s verdict, I was still exiled to Chila Point.

However, I was satisfied. Although I couldn’t kill Luke Allen, the current outcome made me feel more vindicated than any other method. Killing someone is easy, but making someone suffer in agony for a lifetime is hard—I did it!

From Elvin to Chila Point, I had seen on the map that it was only a pinky’s width apart, but only after walking did I realize what that pinky actually represented. We stayed in the prison wagon for half a month and were still traveling within the borders of Elvin Province. According to those in the wagon, it would take at least another three sets of fifteen days to reach Chila Point.

Such a long journey was truly unbearable. If I were alone, I would have gone mad! Fortunately, the other six were quite talkative. Although I couldn’t speak, I could still listen to many interesting stories.

The man in the cage next to mine was a notorious lone bandit from Elvin, with a resounding name: Morgan Wolf. Morgan Wolf was very famous in Elvin—I had heard of him. It was said he was ruthless, always after both wealth and women, and had never failed in ten years. This time, he was caught because he was framed by an enemy, but he never revealed exactly how he was set up.

The one in the cage opposite me wasn’t human, but a night elf with elven blood. A thousand years ago, humans, beasts, spirits, and demons waged the War of the Realmgods for control of our planet. The war lasted six hundred years, and after heavy losses, the four realms divided the land and began a long period of recuperation.

Night elves originally belonged to the spirit realm, but after betraying the spirit realm during the War of the Realmgods, and then betraying the human realm, they were branded as traitors by all four realms and suffered oppression. Many night elves, once captured, became slaves to the four realms—the lowest class in the world.

The night elf before me was named Charles Young, and bore many crimes. First, he raped and killed his adoptive mistress, then wandered the world, becoming a demon who specialized in raping and killing noble maidens. After each crime, he would always leave a blood-red peach blossom in the victim’s home, so his other name was far more famous than his real one: Heath Evans.

Next to Charles Young’s cage was an even bigger figure. He was learned in both ancient and modern knowledge, almost superhuman. He was extremely talented, known as the Scholar of Universal Learning. Unfortunately, he was born in the wrong era, his official career rose and fell several times, and now he had become a prisoner. But all this was according to him—he talked endlessly along the way, with a sharp tongue and some eloquence, though I couldn’t see any other talents. Perhaps disheartened, he gave himself a rather amusing name: Smart Alec. Heh, in truth, who among us isn’t Smart Alec?

The other three had very distinctive accents, seemingly not from our Elvin region, so I couldn’t really understand their speech. But they chatted happily with Smart Alec.

It seemed I had truly become famous, to be locked up with so many big names. And the precautions against me were clearly much stricter, which made Morgan Wolf, who knew my background, shout in frustration all the way. Heh, this guy even wanted to compete over this. If possible, I’d really like to swap outfits with him—of course, that bit and bridle should still go on Smart Alec.

Inside the carriage, there was no sense of day or night, and the weather seemed to grow hotter and hotter. At first, everyone still joked and teased each other, but later, no one wanted to speak anymore.

The guards would bring us food on schedule every day, but people have to relieve themselves after eating. At first, someone would come to clean up for us, but as the temperature in the carriage rose, the cleaning became less and less frequent.

The stench and foul odor filled the entire carriage. My whole body was chained, so I could only relieve myself where I was. In the days that followed, I was soaked in a pile of excrement, the pungent stench so nauseating that even I felt sick. To avoid smelling it, I had to hold my breath as much as possible. After more than ten days, I could actually hold my breath for thirty minutes without feeling suffocated.

Even so, it was still unbearable. The road grew bumpier, and combined with the nauseating smell, I don’t know how I made it through. Just as I was about to lose consciousness in my daze, a loud shout came to my ears: “We’ve arrived at Chila Point!”

Finally, we had arrived! My heart relaxed, and my mind could no longer stay clear—I lost consciousness...

Chila Point, located on the southern edge of Elvin Province, is an island off the coast of the Sfarin Continent. Surrounded by sea on all sides, the nearest base on the Sfarin Continent is a seven-day boat ride away.
