Chapter 6

“It was me who lent it to you, so you must return it to me in the future.”

Brian Clark was silent for a moment, then his face broke into a smile again. Grinning cheekily, he said, “You’re the best, not like the others who dragged me to court. I mean, I married them all properly, and we even had a bunch of kids—how could that be considered rape?”

“You totally deserved it!” the woman cursed bitterly, then realized she’d lost her composure and softened her tone a bit. “My name is Helen Parker, I’m with the Orderkeepers’ Alliance, an Iron-class bounty hunter.”

Orderkeepers’ Alliance?

Of course Brian Clark knew about it. He understood this alliance far better than Helen Parker, who was just a rookie Orderkeeper.

“What? You don’t want my talents to go to waste, so you want me to become a glorious Orderkeeper? Don’t say I didn’t warn you, I’m a dangerous person under the surveillance of the Central AI right now. Aren’t you afraid of getting burned?” In fact, this was exactly what he wanted.

Helen Parker smiled slightly. “Orderkeepers are legal. The Central AI won’t interfere with your lawful actions. I just happen to need a helper.”

Brian Clark burst out laughing. “Then you’ve found the right person—I’m a total bargain!”

Getting a healthy heart in exchange, he was in a great mood. The sky suddenly seemed brighter, and life had a new direction.

As for the despair just now? Did it even exist? That wasn’t despair—just one road being blocked, so he had to helplessly choose another.

Chapter 3: All Are Lawful Wives

The first level of District 55 might be called a slum, but at least it was the high-tech era now, and all the basic facilities were complete.

The hovercar carried the two of them, speeding through a steel jungle of skyscrapers for ten minutes before arriving at the destination hospital.

The car door opened, but Helen Parker had no intention of getting out. She said casually, “I applied in advance to access your stem cell bank, and the Central AI approved it. The hospital has already grown your heart, and I’ve paid the credit points. Just go in and give your name.”

“All right. Thanks, then.” Brian Clark acted nonchalant, with not a trace of gratitude on his face.

He got out, entered the hospital, and half an hour later, Brian Clark came out looking radiant, walking with a spring in his step, almost bouncing off the ground, nothing like the weak state he’d been in before.

In modern society, medicine was highly advanced. Heart transplants were as routine as circumcisions—no big deal, as long as you had the credit points.

He opened the car door, plopped into his seat, lay back, and closed his eyes, quietly feeling the strong heartbeat in his chest.

After a long while, he let out a deep breath. He no longer had to live cautiously like before. Being healthy felt amazing.

He sighed to himself for a while, then turned to look at the beautiful woman quietly waiting beside him. Straightening up, he said solemnly, “Helen Parker, you’re my lifesaver. From today—no, from this very moment—my life belongs to you. I absolutely won’t let your investment go to waste.”

Brian Clark felt he’d found his purpose in the real world!

Helen Parker was slightly taken aback. In her memory, Brian Clark had always been easygoing and carefree, rarely this serious.

“Don’t talk nonsense. The law doesn’t recognize slave contracts.” Helen Parker shot him a glare, her heart suddenly skipping a beat. She quickly looked away and hurriedly started the car, merging back into traffic.

Brian Clark didn’t mind. He was the type who either made no promises, or, if he did, would never go back on his word!

“So, where are we going now? Orderkeepers’ headquarters?”

Helen Parker nodded. “The Orderkeepers’ headquarters is an independent virtual world. We’ll go to my place first, then connect to headquarters.”

……

Helen Parker’s home was also on the first level of District 55. The hovercar sped along the main road at 200 kilometers per hour for ten minutes, then turned into a residential alley, weaving through a maze of narrow lanes like a spiderweb for a full half hour before finally arriving.

A door seamlessly blended into the alloy wall slid open silently. The two got out, entered the room, and the alloy door quietly closed behind them, fitting perfectly so that from the outside, you couldn’t tell there was a door at all. Not a bit of space was wasted.

Brian Clark looked around the room, clicking his tongue in admiration. “Xin’er, this place is nice.”

There was even a small living room, and it was tidy—way better than his own doghouse.

You had to know, nearly a hundred million people lived on the first level of District 55. Having a living room was a real luxury.

“Who gave you permission to call me that? From now on, don’t call me Xin’er—call me Helen Parker.” Helen Parker snapped, glaring at him fiercely.

“Haven’t we called each other that for over fifty years? Did you forget what happened in the game?” Brian Clark looked innocent.

As he spoke, his eyes couldn’t help but scan Helen Parker’s whole body, secretly admiring her. Her figure was just as great as in the game—no, even more attractive. In the Earth virtual world, it was still the early civilization era, and everyone wore hand-sewn cloth dresses, all flowing and fluttery, nothing like this tight leather outfit that showed off her curves.
