Previously, Brian Clark’s world, “Earth,” was the first virtual world to appear. It had the longest development time, the most complete rules, and the highest level—gold tier. Cheating in it was nearly impossible.
Currently, Rose Thorn is just a small iron-tier squad, only able to take on minor tasks in iron-tier worlds and earn a bit of pocket money.
However, the overall pay for Orderkeepers is relatively high, so even this pocket money should be decent. Otherwise, Helen Parker wouldn’t have been able to put up three hundred thousand credit points.
Ten minutes later, the two of them arrived at a small room.
At the door, Helen Parker stopped and warned, “All the squad members are my close sisters. If I catch you getting handsy, don’t blame me for being rude.”
Brian Clark grinned cheekily. “What if they come to me on their own?”
Helen Parker paused, her expression turning cold. “That’s not allowed either!”
Brian Clark pulled a long face. “Alright then, I’ll listen to you.”
Only then did Helen Parker open the door. Crisp, pleasant voices drifted out from inside.
Helen Parker walked in, with Brian Clark following behind her. When he saw the situation in the room, his eyes widened in shock.
“You all… why… why are you all here?”
It turned out that the two so-called Rose Thorn members in the room were actually both wives from when he was George Washington. Helen Parker was the first wife, and the two in the room were his forty-eighth and forty-ninth wives. Their faces and voices were just as he remembered from yesterday.
Chapter 4: Trainee Orderkeeper
Compared to Brian Clark’s stunned reaction, the two women in the room were all smiles. They both knew he would show up and were mentally prepared.
The one closest to him—his forty-ninth wife—looked only sixteen or seventeen, sweet and charming, with a round face and a hint of baby fat, exactly as she was when Brian Clark married her.
She was the first to jump up from her seat, bouncing over to Brian Clark’s side, skillfully hugging his arm and snuggling up to him. Though young, her well-developed chest brushed against his arm as she cooed, “Husband, what took you so long?”
She spoke naturally, without a trace of shyness.
Brian Clark, thick-skinned as he was, had already figured it out by now. The women in this room must be the three wives out of forty-nine who hadn’t sued him.
He reached out and gently patted the girl’s head, smiling. “My lady, how have you been? The pleasures of our wedding night are still fresh in my memory.”
At the mention of their wedding night, the girl finally couldn’t keep a straight face. Blushing and heart pounding, she let go of Brian Clark’s arm and darted behind Helen Parker like a rabbit, not saying another word.
She had entered Earth as an ordinary player, just to take a break and adjust her mental state. Like Helen Parker, her memories had been blocked. At the time, living in the virtual world didn’t feel like much, but looking back now, it was incredibly awkward.
“Brian Clark, stop being such a flirt.” Helen Parker scolded him, then turned to the proud-looking girl. “And you, didn’t we agree not to bring that up?”
After giving both sides a scolding, Helen Parker finally began the formal introductions.
She pulled the girl out from behind her and said, “Her name is Lily Clark, codename Purple Rose.”
Then she pointed to the woman sitting quietly and smiling at Brian Clark. “Her name is Emily White, but we all call her Emily, codename White Rose. As for me, my codename is Red Rose. We’re all iron-tier Orderkeepers.”
Brian Clark looked at Emily, his forty-eighth wife, took a few steps forward, and said seriously, “Ms. Emily, it’s a pleasure to meet you.”
Among all his wives, Brian Clark had a deep impression of Emily. In “Earth,” just like now, she had the air of a noble lady—graceful, elegant, and wise in dealing with people. She was calm and steady, a rare virtuous wife. Even though Brian Clark treated “Earth” as a game, he truly respected her.
Emily smiled and nodded. “You’re too kind, Mr. Brian Clark.”
Brian Clark smiled as well. Unlike with Helen Parker, he didn’t feel much for these two women.
As the saying goes, a game is like a life. That’s not just empty words. When the game ends, so does the relationship—there’s no need to get emotionally entangled in the real world.
The two women could meet him so calmly, so they must feel the same way.
After the three of them introduced themselves and exchanged a few pleasantries, they got down to business.
Helen Parker was the captain, so she arranged Brian Clark’s work first.
“Brian Clark, you’re a newcomer, so you’re a trainee Orderkeeper. You need to build up your credentials before you can be promoted to a full iron-tier Orderkeeper and go on missions with us.”
“How do I build up credentials?” Brian Clark asked casually.
“Go to some newly created small virtual worlds and complete a few assignments. I’ve already prepared one for you. I have a commission from Shuer Virtual Company. Their virtual world is called ‘Dragon Era,’ and it’s been around for less than half a year. Now, all sorts of problems have cropped up.”
“What kind of problems?”
“Countless minor issues—vampires, werewolves, undead, all sorts of cheats. The most serious one is that someone has taken control of the strongest creature in the Dragon World—the dragon itself. Shuer suspects it’s a rival company, but they have no proof. Their solution is to hire a powerful Orderkeeper to go slay the dragon.”
