Chapter 1

Chapter 1: Crossing into Another World

A tiny butterfly flaps its wings, possibly causing a devastating storm a thousand miles away.

—The Butterfly Effect

The beautiful universe, boundless and infinite. In a distant star system hundreds of thousands of light-years from Earth, there is a beautiful green planet.

Civilizations take many forms. Here, there was no industrial revolution, no computers, yet there exists a highly developed magical civilization. Humans, beastmen, elves, dragons—this place has an ecosystem even more complex than Earth's, and many different advanced intelligent beings...

Yet at this moment, the peace of this beautiful planet was shattered.

Boom!

Battle aura raged, magic dazzled, choking smoke filled the air everywhere. In the sky, griffins cried out, and there were even powerful dragons. The knights' lances gleamed coldly. On the ground, hundreds of thousands of human, beastman, and elf soldiers stood ready for battle, swords drawn, bows strung, with a powerful legion of mages behind them.

The endless army was terrifying, yet at this moment, they could barely maintain a stalemate, for they faced dozens of extraterrestrial warships.

The colonial army from the distant planet Trad!

Trad, a highly advanced civilization in the vast universe, was extremely aggressive. They built countless advanced warships, conquering one planet after another, enslaving the natives, or selling the planets at high prices to other aliens.

This expedition fleet belonged to the Trad colonial army. However, their luck was bad—during a space jump, a star suddenly exploded, and the massive energy storm disrupted the jump. They did not arrive at their intended destination, but were instead transported to an unknown place.

Having lost contact with their home planet, this powerful expeditionary force could only drift aimlessly through the universe. But this could not go on—they needed a base, needed rest, and above all, needed supplies. Now, the only thing they could do was find a life-bearing planet before their energy ran out, and then, as the Trad people always did, occupy it. With a base, even if they could not return home, they could still live well.

A large number of unmanned reconnaissance drones were dispatched, searching the vast universe for any sign of life. Two weeks quickly passed, and finally, they received the news they wanted: about two light-years ahead, a vibrant green planet was discovered.

The photos sent back showed that this planet's technology was extremely backward, still in the Middle Ages—no machinery, no electricity, and the armies used cold weapons. Fleet commander General Carter was overjoyed; conquering such a barbaric and backward planet would be effortless.

They could get supplies, and... beauties. After drifting in space for two months, the soldiers were all pent up. Seeing the three-dimensional images sent back by the drones—one of which was a tall, slender beauty—even the usually composed staff officers howled like wolves.

Delicacies and beauties are the best motivation; there was no need for a war mobilization. The general gave the order, and the fleet made a short-range space jump, arriving in the outer space of that green planet.

However, things did not go as smoothly as imagined...

The invincible fleet met fierce resistance. Although Hailan Star was still in the Middle Ages, it possessed a highly developed magical civilization and incredibly powerful battle aura.

Facing the ferocious extraterrestrial invaders, the intelligent beings of Hailan Star united for the first time. Humans, elves, and beastmen formed a massive coalition army, and even the proud dragons joined in.

These were gigantic creatures, tens of meters long. Though they seemed like ants before the massive warships, magic was not to be trifled with...

Except for the main cannon at the bow, ordinary lasers and energy missiles could not penetrate the dragons' protective shields. The carrier-based aircraft were fiercely intercepted by the griffin riders, and as for the mecha warriors meant for landing, they were simply swallowed up by the iron tide of the knights.

"Damn it!"

Staring at the screen before him, General Carter smashed the wine glass in his hand in fury. The mighty imperial fleet, the invincible expeditionary force, was actually stymied by a group of medieval barbarians wielding cold weapons. If word got out, it would be a disgrace to the empire.

What exactly was the magic they spoke of, and what was this battle aura? Through the screen, Carter personally saw two precision-guided bombs fired by an FV joint attack aircraft hit the enemy general. Yet... the man, honored as the "Sword Saint," was unharmed, and instead, with a single sword strike, cleaved the fighter jet in two.

Is this a joke? Are these still flesh and blood beings? Even fully armored mecha warriors couldn't withstand such bombs. The battle before his eyes completely overturned Carter's understanding.
