Chapter 7

What should he do? Just thinking about this question made Ryan Bennett extremely frustrated. In novels, the protagonist always manages to use their knowledge from Earth to make money easily, but reality is never that simple. Thinking carefully, he did know a lot more physics, chemistry, astronomy, and geography than the people of Hailan Star, but so what? At least for now, Ryan Bennett still hadn’t figured out any way to turn that knowledge into money.

Unconsciously, he walked into the garden, where a beautiful young girl caught his eye—it was the baron’s daughter, Miss Katherine. The girl was practicing martial arts, her graceful body wrapped in a blaze of fiery red battle aura.

Boom!

A boulder weighing several hundred pounds was shattered by her blow. From an Earthling’s perspective, this was simply impossible—such delicate, beautiful hands possessing such terrifying strength. But on Hailan Star, this was nothing unusual. This was battle aura!

Magical battle aura!

On this beautiful planet, although knights didn’t have as high a status as mages—since the threshold for training was lower—it was undeniable that a knight with outstanding martial skills was also respected. Moreover, battle aura wasn’t so easy to master. In fact, among warriors, most were low-rank knights. The line between low and mid-rank was a watershed; only by becoming a mid-rank knight could one possess battle aura. Each rank was further divided into upper, middle, and lower grades. For Katherine to become a lower-grade, low-rank knight before the age of twenty was already quite impressive.

Ryan Bennett watched with a bit of envy, his eyes turning red. But don’t get the wrong idea—it wasn’t the beauty before him he coveted, but her outstanding martial skills!

“Do you need something?”

“Miss Katherine.”

Ryan Bennett nodded. At first, the baron’s daughter was very curious about the boy’s attitude. You have to know, Hailan Star was in a medieval era with strict social hierarchies. According to imperial law, commoners had to salute and show proper respect when facing nobles. But this boy seemed... completely unconcerned.

His attitude was always neither servile nor overbearing. Although he was very polite when with her, Katherine could tell that was only because she had saved him. Deep down, this boy showed a kind of disdain for nobles.

It wasn’t pretentiousness. From Ryan Bennett’s eyes, Katherine saw that he truly didn’t want to bow to anyone. Could it be... his status was extremely noble, perhaps a fallen noble or royal?

This guess was quickly dismissed. Although Ryan Bennett’s behavior these days was always polite and well-mannered, very different from ordinary commoners—clearly, he was well-educated—he was obviously clueless about noble etiquette.

Who exactly was he? The boy was always shrouded in mystery...

Chapter 5: A Man Should Strive for Self-Improvement

The baron’s daughter had asked before, but to no avail. Ryan Bennett frankly said it was inconvenient to talk about, and he didn’t want to lie, asking Katherine to understand his difficulties.

Although curious, Katherine was a reasonable girl. Since he had already said it was inconvenient, she didn’t press further. After all, everyone has their own privacy, and she also appreciated Ryan Bennett’s candor and honesty.

“Do you need my help with something?”

Although she was known as the “thorned rose,” that was only for dealing with those lecherous men outside. In truth, Katherine wasn’t hard to get along with—her nature was quite kind. She could see a trace of difficulty hidden on the boy’s face.

“Miss Katherine, thank you for saving me and for taking care of me these past days. I want to leave.”

“Leave?” The baron’s daughter raised her elegant brows. “Where to, or... is it inconvenient to say again?”

“No, I want to go to the imperial capital.”

“The imperial capital? Do you have relatives there?”

“No, but I want to go out and make my way in the world. A real man can’t just keep freeloading at your noble house forever!”

His words made sense, but Katherine still had a question in her heart. After hesitating a moment, she asked, “Do you have any money?” After all, Ryan Bennett had fainted from hunger by the roadside before, and the baron’s daughter was well aware of his penniless situation.

“Well...” Ryan Bennett was speechless. A penniless transmigrator like himself was practically unheard of. He sighed, “No. If it’s convenient, Miss, could you lend me some?”

There was really no other way. As for making money, Ryan Bennett truly couldn’t think of any method. In this world, so far, the only person he was familiar with was Katherine. Fortunately, she was the baron’s daughter, from a wealthy family, and should have plenty of savings. Borrowing some from her now, he could repay this favor once he made a name for himself.

Of course, he wasn’t sure if she would agree, but you never know unless you try.

“All right!”

Katherine considered for a moment, then nodded in agreement—so readily that it surprised Ryan Bennett. “Wait here, I’ll go get you the money.”

Watching the girl disappear among the flowers, Ryan Bennett still hadn’t recovered from his shock... It seemed that heaven wasn’t treating him too badly after all, and his misfortune was gradually fading away.

“So much?”

Looking at the hundred silver coins before him, the boy’s face showed a trace of astonishment. By Hailan Star’s standards, this was already a huge sum.

There’s a saying: don’t accept rewards without merit. What exactly was Katherine’s intention in doing this?
