Chapter 9

"I know he's only ten." Jason Clark said with some dissatisfaction, "I'm not the only one who saw it, the whole village can testify."

Charles Wright finally truly believed it, and a look of unexpected joy appeared in his eyes.

As parents, they always hope their child is the best. Even though he himself didn't understand why David Wright's strength had become so great, it didn't affect his good mood.

"Charles, since David has such talent, he should be trained early. The day after tomorrow we're going hunting in the mountains, so I plan to start teaching him the basic fist techniques tomorrow, let him try it out, and see if he has the potential to become a hunter." Jason Clark said solemnly.

Charles Wright thought for a moment and said, "Thank you, Village Chief."

Jason Clark waved his hand and smiled, "It's my responsibility to teach the children in the village martial arts. But you know, not everyone can become a hunter. I can't be sure if David has the talent, it all depends on him."

Charles Wright quickly said, "I understand, thank you for your trouble, Village Chief."

After seeing Jason Clark off, Charles Wright stood in the room for a while, finally making a certain decision.

……

In the kitchen, David Wright ladled out the meat porridge.

There was a lot of meat porridge in the pot. He knew that once his father started talking with the village chief, it wouldn't end quickly, so he only served himself a portion. Then he covered the pot with a layer of tattered cotton, not letting the heat escape, so that when his father came to eat later, the porridge would still be warm.

The dishes at home were simple: some pickled vegetables, a bowl of stir-fried dried meat with chili. He wolfed down the meat porridge and some of the dishes, finally feeling a bit better.

He didn't know why, but lately he was always feeling hungry. His father said it was because of blood loss from his injury, so he needed extra nutrition. But now that his wounds had healed, his appetite was still nearly double what it used to be.

Fortunately, the more he ate, the happier Charles Wright was. And with Charles Wright's cooking skills, there was no way he couldn't feed a big eater.

David Wright closed his eyes slightly, and once again felt it.

A wave of heat spread from his belly, quickly merging into his body.

This was the inevitable reaction every time he ate bear meat porridge, and as this heat accumulated, his strength had clearly increased.

Being able to lift a hundred-pound stone block on the training ground today was definitely because of this heat.

After experiencing this benefit, David Wright became even more fond of the meat porridge.

The heat in his belly didn't last long, soon dispersing throughout his body, but David Wright still felt warm and comfortable all over.

Footsteps sounded, and Charles Wright pushed the door open and entered.

David Wright quickly jumped up, picked up a bowl, ladled out some meat porridge from the pot and placed it on the table, saying, "Dad, hurry and eat, or it'll get cold."

Charles Wright nodded slightly, swallowed the food in a few bites, glanced at the now-empty pot, and suddenly asked, "David, are you full?"

David Wright was taken aback, touched his little belly, and said, "I think I could eat a bit more."

Charles Wright couldn't help but laugh, "Being able to eat is a blessing. I'll cook you some more."

He was already quite skilled at kitchen work. He washed the pot, rinsed the rice, started cooking again, and looked at his expectant son, feeling a bit ashamed inside.

He really had been too careless—not only had he not noticed his son's great strength, but he also hadn't realized how much his son's appetite had increased. If the village chief hadn't mentioned it today, his son might have continued to go hungry.

After a moment's thought, Charles Wright said, "David, I heard from the village chief that you lifted a hundred-pound stone block on the training ground today?"

David Wright's face immediately filled with excitement, and he nodded vigorously.

Charles Wright was also delighted, smiling, "Good boy, you've become so strong! How did you train?"

David Wright thought seriously for a while and said, "Dad, it's because I ate food that I became stronger."

Charles Wright was taken aback, feeling even more ashamed inside.

His son must be going through a growth spurt, which is why his appetite and strength have increased so much. From now on, he must cook more food. Besides, there's still plenty of bear meat at home, so he can let him eat as much as he wants.

David Wright tilted his head and continued, "Dad, I don't think I used to get stronger from eating, but lately it's different. Every time I eat, I get stronger."

Charles Wright grinned and couldn't help but laugh, "David, actually, we all get stronger after eating. But before, you weren't at the age for a growth spurt, so the strength you gained from eating wasn't much and you couldn't feel it. Now that you're growing, the more you eat, the stronger you get."

David Wright blinked. Although he didn't understand what a growth spurt was, he never doubted his father's words.
