The men who had been cheering on the side had stopped at some point. Although they didn’t know much about internal martial arts, they had some discernment and could naturally see that David Wright was very different from an ordinary beginner.
A few minutes later, David Wright delivered a side kick, retracted, brought both fists to his waist, and exhaled a long, white breath.
Everyone looked at each other, all feeling a very strange sensation in their hearts.
The boxing technique this little fellow displayed was actually not very standard—in fact, it was full of flaws. Yet, for some reason, there was something indescribable contained within his movements, something that made them feel vaguely uneasy.
Jason Clark nodded slightly, then suddenly said, “Thomas Miller, what do you think of David’s performance?”
Thomas Miller stepped forward, thought for a moment, and said, “David doesn’t have any foundation in boxing. His horse stance is unstable, his center of gravity uneven, and his kicks are slow and weak. Although the overall form looks about right, it’s still far from the standard posture.”
As he said this, Thomas Miller even lowered his voice.
Although David Wright’s movements weren’t standard, as he said, he had memorized all the moves clearly—something Thomas Miller himself couldn’t do as well.
Jason Clark said in a gentle voice, “A good assessment. If you were to spar with David, could you win?”
Thomas Miller was taken aback; he hadn’t expected Jason Clark to ask such a question.
If it were William Clark, he would have said without hesitation that he could win, but Thomas Miller thought for a moment more and replied seriously, “David’s movements aren’t standard, and his strength is misapplied, full of openings. But for some reason, I feel that if I tried to beat him, it would be quite difficult.”
Jason Clark burst out laughing and said, “Good, Thomas Miller, you haven’t let me or your uncle down. In terms of perception alone, you’re a notch above William.”
William Clark muttered something under his breath, but intimidated by his father’s authority, his voice was so low that even he couldn’t hear it clearly.
However, Jason Clark, who was always alert, turned and glared at his son before saying, “David has never learned martial arts before. Although he has a good memory and strength, he can’t yet bring out the essence of boxing, which is why his moves are full of flaws. However…” His eyes shone faintly. “I didn’t expect that David could already express ‘boxing intent’ the very first time he learned boxing.”
William Clark and Thomas Miller immediately widened their eyes, looking at David Wright with astonishment.
As for the other men in the village, they whispered among themselves. For those without talent in internal martial arts, every word from Jason Clark, the hunter, was full of mystery.
Jason Clark stepped forward, patted David Wright on the shoulder, and said, “Boxing intent is the artistic conception of a boxing style. Generally, only after years of hard practice and with exceptional talent can one slowly develop boxing intent. However, as far as I know, some people are naturally suited to practicing internal martial arts. When they train, they can develop boxing intent much more easily than others. If such people cultivate internal skills, they will achieve twice the result with half the effort.”
A look of delight and surprise immediately appeared on David Wright’s face.
Although he didn’t understand what boxing intent was, he could tell that Jason Clark was praising him.
In fact, David Wright didn’t know that this set of long boxing, though an introductory internal style, was not simple. Without a master’s hands-on guidance, it would be impossible to grasp its essence just by watching, even a dozen times, let alone once, and then copying the moves.
He had only watched once. Although his lack of foundation prevented him from performing standard moves, he managed to imitate some of William Clark’s momentum.
It was precisely this somewhat imitated, somewhat off, martial momentum that truly startled Jason Clark.
Waving his hand, Jason Clark dismissed the men who had gathered to watch.
Then, he began to personally and formally teach David Wright the basics of long boxing.
His instruction was far superior to William Clark’s earlier demonstration. Not only did he break down every move and stance of the introductory long boxing, but he also explained every essential point in detail, leaving nothing out.
William Clark and Thomas Miller both blinked their big eyes, listening intently.
Although they were not unfamiliar with this content, every time they watched Jason Clark demonstrate and explain in person, they gained new insights.
At this moment, they were both quite envious and amazed.
When they had first learned long boxing, Jason Clark had only taught them the moves, withholding the key points and essentials.
It wasn’t until a year later, after they had basically mastered the standard techniques, that he gradually, bit by bit, passed on the essentials. But with David Wright, the teaching method was clearly different—he seemed eager to impart all the essentials of long boxing within just an hour, which made the two of them quite jealous.
David Wright’s eyes sparkled with delight.
