Chapter 5

Henry Shaw is a student at Qingyang University. For the sake of convenience in his cultivation, he has always rented an apartment near the university. Qingyang University has already moved to the outskirts of the city, and after getting off the bus, Henry Shaw walked toward his residence.

Along the way, Henry Shaw kept thinking about doing good deeds. He understood in his heart that whether he could return to his family might be his only hope.

A loud screech of brakes pierced the air, startling Henry Shaw out of his thoughts.

Looking up, he saw a van stop right in front of him. Then, several young men jumped out of the van. Each of them had tattoos on their arms and was holding a steel pipe, charging straight at Henry Shaw.

"That's the guy! Beat him up!"

To his surprise, Henry Shaw saw that the one shouting was actually the middle-aged beggar. Remembering the warning the man had given him to be careful, Henry Shaw realized this guy was here for revenge.

He hadn't expected that just a few words would make the man resort to such tactics against him.

In a flash, Henry Shaw understood—the middle-aged man had been having people follow him all along, and this spot, with few people around, was the perfect place for them to make a move.

At this moment, Henry Shaw was truly angry.

Without another word, Henry Shaw charged at them as well.

Having trained in his family for years, even though he hadn't yet drawn qi into his body, Henry Shaw's martial arts were still formidable.

Although he was no match for true cultivators, with the family techniques he had inherited, dealing with ordinary people was no problem at all.

Grabbing one young man's steel pipe with his left hand, Henry Shaw punched him with his right, sending the young man flying.

With the steel pipe in hand, Henry Shaw's momentum surged. Swinging the pipe, he unleashed a set of staff techniques on the group. By the end, only the middle-aged man was left standing.

The middle-aged man hadn't expected Henry Shaw to be so tough. He quickly turned and jumped into the van, trying to start it and escape.

The steel pipe flew at the car door. With a scream, Henry Shaw was already at the middle-aged man's side, dragging him out of the van in one swift motion.

"Spare me!"

The middle-aged man finally realized he'd messed with the wrong person and desperately begged for mercy.

Henry Shaw raised his fist and began pummeling the man, making him scream in pain.

Just then, Henry Shaw heard movement inside the van. Looking over, he saw a girl tied up inside, her mouth sealed with tape, banging her body against the van.

He quickly tore the tape from the girl's mouth, and she immediately shouted loudly.

"Help... help..."

"Who are you?"

"I'm a migrant worker from Xiagou Village. They caught me..."

Henry Shaw hadn't expected these people to be involved in kidnapping as well as begging, and realized the situation was more complicated than he thought.

After a moment's thought, Henry Shaw dialed 110. This was something best left to the police.

Soon, the police arrived.

After understanding the situation, the officers took it very seriously and immediately brought everyone to the police station.

Henry Shaw hadn't expected things to escalate so much. Because of this incident, the police launched an operation and actually cracked a major human trafficking case.

Henry Shaw didn't ask about the details of the police work; he just cooperated with their investigation. By the time everything was done, it was already late.

Leaving the police station, Henry Shaw looked inward at his dantian and was overwhelmed with joy.

Henry Shaw discovered that golden streams of qi were occasionally entering his dantian. Although most were just thin threads, the amount was considerable, and he had actually repaired two more cracks.

Looking closely, Henry Shaw saw that the golden threads of qi were still flowing in from time to time.

Wonderful!

Henry Shaw felt quite uplifted. An unintentional act had really helped repair the cracks in his dantian.

Thinking about the major trafficking case, Henry Shaw realized that many people had probably been rescued.

Standing at the entrance of the police station, Henry Shaw really wanted to shout at the top of his lungs.

This incident had given Henry Shaw hope once again for repairing his dantian.

He must do more good deeds!

After checking the state of his dantian and just about to leave, Henry Shaw saw the girl he had rescued standing timidly nearby, a look of confusion in her eyes.

"You haven't left yet?" Henry Shaw asked.

"I don't know where to go."

The girl's voice was pleasant, but there was a hint of unease in her words.

At that moment, Henry Shaw heard her stomach growl. Thinking that he was hungry too after all the commotion, he said to the girl, "Come on, I'll treat you to a meal."

After a moment's hesitation, the girl nodded slightly.

They found a small roadside eatery. After Henry Shaw ordered a few dishes, the two of them began to eat.

At a glance, the girl looked rather disheveled and unremarkable, but Henry Shaw was curious about her kidnapping and asked, "You said you're from Xiagou Village. I know that place—it's said to be one of the poorest villages in the province?"

"Yes."
