After finishing the phone call, Henry Shaw nodded to himself. This Stephen Clark was a good classmate—he didn’t put on airs just because his family was better off. In fact, Henry Shaw kept a low profile at university; no one knew about his family background, and he usually acted like a kid from a poor family. Even so, Stephen Clark never looked down on him, which was truly rare.
When night fell, the bus finally entered the provincial capital. As soon as the bus stopped, Henry Shaw saw Stephen Clark standing there in casual clothes.
“How’d you end up wanting to visit the countryside, man? Chasing after some village girls? So, did you get anything out of this trip?” Stephen Clark teased as soon as they met.
“Nothing much, just looking around, trying to find a way to make some money!”
As they chatted, the two of them walked over to the Mercedes parked nearby.
Henry Shaw didn’t stand on ceremony and told him all about how honeysuckle was everywhere in Xiagou Village, and how he’d helped arrange for it to be sold.
After listening to Henry Shaw’s story, Stephen Clark burst out laughing. “Man, what a coincidence! You have no idea—ever since that beverage company with all the crazy ads got popular, their demand for this stuff has skyrocketed. My dad just happens to be one of their suppliers. Bring as much as you want, and I’ll help you sell it. We could probably make a lot of money.”
Henry Shaw then mentioned that someone had come to buy it for just one yuan.
Stephen Clark said, “The price of this stuff has shot up lately, it’s holding steady at about 240 yuan per kilogram. Here’s the deal: you don’t have to worry about transportation or anything. Just organize people to bring the goods to your township, and I’ll send people to handle the shipping. We’ll make some money, but my company will take care of everything. You’re definitely going to make a big profit.”
Henry Shaw understood that Stephen Clark was genuinely helping him. They still had a lot of PR and other things to handle, and there were many steps in the process. It looked like they’d make a lot, but after deductions, it wasn’t actually that much.
Henry Shaw smiled and said, “Alright, it’s a deal.”
After discussing things with Stephen Clark, Henry Shaw hurried back to Xiagou Village.
He didn’t really care how much money he made; the key was that this could help repair his dantian, and that was the most important thing.
This time, Henry Shaw felt even more confident. With Stephen Clark’s help, things would be much easier. Plus, Henry Shaw also received an advance payment from Stephen Clark, which Stephen Clark insisted on giving him.
Henry Shaw quietly made a note of this favor in his heart.
Just as they were talking, Henry Shaw heard a loud noise outside the house.
“Who’s the boss from the provincial capital? Get out here!”
Hearing the voice, Chi Shuixian’s mother’s face changed. “It’s Samuel Reed and his gang!”
When Henry Shaw walked out of the house, he immediately saw several young men, all in their twenties, shirtless, with muscular arms, holding sticks and other weapons.
On the ground was a broken table.
“So you’re that kid named Shang?” the leader looked at Henry Shaw.
“And you are?”
“I’m Samuel Reed. Listen up—get lost and go back where you came from. Xiagou Village isn’t a place for you. If you don’t leave, I’ll break your legs!”
Henry Shaw had originally wanted to reason with them, but seeing Samuel Reed’s attitude, he changed his mind. He figured this guy only understood force—he’d have to beat him into submission to make him listen.
“Looking for a fight?”
Before the others could say anything, Henry Shaw had already charged into the group.
There were four young men. Henry Shaw didn’t use any weapons—he just rushed in.
He grabbed one guy’s stick, kicked him hard, sending him flying, then swung the stick at the others.
The long stick whirled, his figure darted!
In just a few moves, all four young men were knocked to the ground by Henry Shaw.
Leaning on the stick, Henry Shaw looked down at Samuel Reed on the ground and said, “Come on, again!”
“Get him!”
Samuel Reed leapt up and charged at Henry Shaw again.
This time, Henry Shaw didn’t even bother with the stick. He tossed it aside, rushed into the group, and with a punch for each, knocked all four of them down again.
Too fast!
Samuel Reed and the others never expected this outcome. Lying on the ground, they couldn’t get up for a while, and the look in their eyes as they stared at Henry Shaw was full of fear.
“Get up and keep going.”
Standing there, Henry Shaw said calmly.
Samuel Reed and his gang were completely intimidated by Henry Shaw. They knew they were no match for him and didn’t get up.
Henry Shaw shook his head to himself. As a cultivator, dealing with these guys almost felt like bullying.
Still, Henry Shaw knew that if he wanted to get things done in Xiagou Village, he had to bring these guys under control.
“Uncle Chi, bring out a few stools.”
Edward Brooks was also shocked—he never expected the four toughest guys in the village to be taken down by Henry Shaw in a single encounter. Cautiously, he brought over a few small stools.
“Sit down!”
Henry Shaw looked at Samuel Reed and the others and said.
