Chapter 8

Martial arts were something Jack Harris, his father, had forced him to practice since childhood. The Proud Dragon Art could only be practiced by those with the bloodline of the The Harris Family, so every additional member of the The Harris Family was precious. The fact that he could reach the second level at sixteen already made him a talent, though he was still far behind his eldest brother, who had reached the third level at sixteen and had now stepped into the fourth. However, there were many in history who only reached the second level at sixteen, and some who hadn’t even reached it.

The Proud Dragon Art was created by the The Harris Family ancestor for himself. Legend had it that the The Harris Family possessed the blood of dragons, though whether that was true remained unknown. Still, the The Harris Family’s physique was indeed different from ordinary people.

Brian Carter read through the entire Proud Dragon Art. After understanding everything, he began to circulate his energy. That was all he could do for now, since he still couldn’t move. He had no idea what was happening to his body at that moment.

Brian Carter’s wounds slowly absorbed the blood on the ground, whether it was his own or the dark tiger’s. Normally, human blood couldn’t fuse with others’, but Brian Carter’s physique was very special. Time passed bit by bit, and now Brian Carter’s wounds had already healed.

Brian Carter realized he could move, so he stood up. Looking at his clothes, which were covered in blood, he couldn’t even tell where the wounds had been—it seemed he was no longer bleeding.

He checked what was in the spatial pouch: this was useless, that was also nothing... My god, why did this kid only bring useless things into the forest? He checked the ring—just books. Don’t think he was studious; aside from one book on magic basics, the rest were erotic novels. With this kind of gear, not to mention surviving in a forest full of magical beasts, even in an ordinary forest, his survival skills would surely get him killed.

The eastern sky was turning white again. This time, I don’t have to hide anymore; I’m a normal person now. After fusing for so long, it was strange that no magical beasts had come by. Could it be that this was the dark tiger’s territory, and its nature was that two tigers can’t share one mountain? Brian Carter’s guess was correct—the dark tiger was a solitary and domineering magical beast, and no other magical beasts would exist in its territory.

Brian Carter picked up the greatsword and collected the tiger skin and magic core, putting them into the spatial pouch. This pouch had a capacity of one hundred cubic units, most of it empty, the rest filled with tools—Ethan Harris’s playthings. The ring only had one cubic unit of space. Spatial items couldn’t be stored inside other spatial items, or it would destabilize the space and destroy the items.

Brian Carter took the greatsword and headed toward the nearest water source he knew of. If anyone knew the terrain of the magical beast forest best right now, it was Brian Carter. He had memorized the landscape from above and used his mind to simulate a three-dimensional map.

Brian Carter washed the blood off his body in a creek, changed into clothes from the spatial pouch, slung the greatsword on his back, and walked toward the forest’s edge.

Chapter 5: Chased by a “Kitten”

Brian Carter was now in a cave behind a waterfall, watching a little “cat” outside.

“How am I so unlucky, to provoke such a monster? If it weren’t afraid of water, I’d have met my end again.” Brian Carter muttered, thinking of a way out.

That morning, as Brian Carter was heading out of the forest, he discovered this little cat. At the time, the cat was lying on the grass, eyes closed, basking in the sun. Seeing its pure white fur and small size, Brian Carter completely forgot he was in a magical beast forest, where nothing was truly safe.

When Brian Carter walked up to the kitten and reached out to pet its back, the kitten suddenly dodged aside, standing guard and glaring at Brian Carter. Brian Carter cursed his carelessness—he still wasn’t used to being in another world.

Brian Carter stared at the kitten, wary of a sudden attack, and slowly moved backward. He blamed Ethan Harris for not knowing enough—there was no information about this cat’s aura. But sometimes, the things that seemed least dangerous were the most dangerous, and in this perilous magical beast forest, the odds were even higher.

As if to confirm Brian Carter’s thoughts, the kitten shot a fireball at him. Brian Carter dodged the fireball and immediately fled at top speed. He had noticed the fireball was white, which meant it was extremely powerful. Sure enough, as he expected, when the fireball hit a tree, it exploded violently, burning all the plants within five meters.

“Damn, what a freaky little cat.” Brian Carter cursed, but didn’t slow down, sprinting away. However, Brian Carter wasn’t as fast as the kitten, and it quickly closed the distance to about eight meters. Brian Carter thought to himself: This won’t work, I need a plan. Zigzagging won’t help—the cat is more agile than me. I’ll have to turn this into an obstacle course.

Brian Carter used his mind to quickly calculate the best escape route, knocking down branches with his battle energy as he ran to create trouble for the kitten. The Proud Dragon Art had been running nonstop in his body since he started, because Brian Carter’s unique mind was constantly sending instructions to his body.

Normally, when people practiced the Proud Dragon Art, they couldn’t do anything else—any movement would affect them, let alone doing what Brian Carter was doing: practicing no matter what he was doing. Brian Carter could truly multitask, even to an extraordinary degree.
