But just as Frank Easton raised the compass once more, the demon was unwilling to sit and wait for death. A flash of deep green ferocity appeared in its eyes as it lunged forward again!
This time, a look of disdain and contempt appeared in Frank Easton’s eyes, because the demon’s speed was now no threat to him at all. The red light on his compass condensed once more, and another burst of fire shot out, giving the ghostly creature another harsh lesson.

Chapter Six: Dying with Eyes Wide Open!
However, Frank Easton was still too young and inexperienced! He never expected that the demon would suddenly open its mouth and vomit out an indescribable blackish-green, putrid liquid, which splattered all over Frank Easton’s face. Not only that, but the liquid also swept up the black mist surrounding the demon’s body and hurled it at him!!
That black mist was no easy thing to deal with either. It was the afterbirth that lingered around the demon’s body after death, fused with the souls of those it had personally killed in revenge. It corroded the heart and bones, and was especially adept at defiling all kinds of magical artifacts. When a few drops splashed onto the compass, it immediately began to sizzle and emit white smoke, even more dramatic than being doused with sulfuric acid.
Having landed a hit, the badly wounded demon immediately crawled over greedily, baring its charred and sharp teeth, and viciously bit toward Frank Easton!
However, this bite, which was sure to succeed, froze in midair!!!
At that moment, with his eyes tightly shut and seemingly in pain, Frank Easton gripped the jade flute he had held earlier. With a sudden pull of his right hand, he drew out a slender sword gleaming with cold light from within the flute. The sword flashed and stabbed into the demon’s ferocious chest, then was immediately withdrawn.
This thrust and withdrawal were executed with a dragging technique, creating a terrifying wound. Even more astonishing, the four actions—drawing the flute, unsheathing the sword, stabbing, and withdrawing—were completed in one seamless motion! It was as smooth as flowing water, a delight to behold!
Having struck true, Frank Easton still kept his eyes closed, but his expression carried a regal arrogance. The corners of his lips curled into a cold smile as he couldn’t help but murmur softly:
“With just the power of a mere little ghost, you think you can defile and corrode me? You should know, my fate and soul have long been tainted by a force ten thousand—no!—a hundred thousand times stronger than you! A little poison like this is nothing to me!”
As he spoke, a jade pendant at his waist began to glow faintly, clearly working to dispel the poison. The wound where the demon had been stabbed was gruesome, white smoke hissing from it. Clearly, the sword hidden in the flute was no ordinary weapon. After being stained with the demon’s evil blood, it shone even more brilliantly, showing no trace of corruption.
But this ghostly creature was extremely vicious by nature and refused to give up the fresh blood before it. Despite being repeatedly wounded, it circled the still tightly-shut-eyed Frank Easton several times before pouncing again, its two pitch-black claws flailing wildly. It looked as if, should it get close, Frank Easton would lose more than a little flesh even if he survived.
Frank Easton let out a gentle sigh, and the slender sword hidden in the flute suddenly stabbed out again. With a flash of light, this time it pierced through the demon’s left eye, straight up into the unopened eye at the top of its head!
This strike was plain and unadorned, but the demon, previously blazing with ferocity, instantly froze in place, then collapsed in the direction the sword had withdrawn. From the wound, a large amount of white, paste-like viscous fluid oozed out—it was clearly dead for good.
Having killed his enemy in one blow, Frank Easton even seemed a bit desolate as he sheathed his sword, letting out a slight sigh, as if dissatisfied with his earlier performance. However, at this moment, blood began to trickle from his eyes as well, though this was only natural—after all, the eyeballs are among the most fragile parts of the human body. The blood quickly changed from black to red, clearly indicating recovery and no serious harm.
Then Frank Easton turned to Jason Allen. Though his eyes were tightly shut and his whole body was badly injured, the moment he turned, he still looked elegant and striking, like a fallen prince. He walked over step by step, each step steady and unflawed.
After surviving the demon’s ambush, Frank Easton had clearly become more mature!
“You… how can you still see me?” Jason Allen, sprawled on the ground, couldn’t help but rasp out! He was in a wretched, dispirited state, his eyes bloodshot, his body covered in dirt. Compared to Frank Easton, he was the very image of a beggar beside a prince!
“All things in heaven and earth are governed by the five virtues. The wind is my eyes.” Frank Easton continued to approach unhurriedly. As he finished speaking, he was already less than five meters from Jason Allen!
“Why do you want to kill me!!” Jason Allen’s face was twisted, and under the immense pressure of life and death, each word seemed to be squeezed out from between his teeth.
Frank Easton said calmly:
“When you’re dead, ask the King of Hell. If you want to blame someone, blame the fact that we bear the same fate.”
As he spoke, he continued forward, clearly not intending to give Jason Allen any time to stall!
At this moment, Jason Allen suddenly recalled that earlier feeling!
The overwhelming sensation after having his head seized by the man before him,
