That's right! In the farthest distance visible to the eye stood an incomparably massive palace! Even now, with collapsed walls and damaged roofs everywhere, its former grandeur was still impossible to conceal.
What kind of person could live in such a magnificent palace? Henry Carter frowned in deep thought—perhaps only the five great dojos rumored on the Origin Continent might have such buildings?
Henry Carter drew his gaze back a bit and found ruins everywhere, broken walls and shattered weapons... tattered battle flags fluttering lightly in the wind, toppled stone pillars, dilapidated houses, and even broken longswords and great halberds! All these lifeless things silently told of the tragic events that had once taken place here.
Henry Carter tried hard to recognize the strange characters on the battle flag. As a son of the Yi family, he had started reading and learning reason at the age of three, but the characters here were completely unfamiliar to him.
"Where exactly is this place?" Henry Carter frowned, withdrawing his gaze from the battle flag and turning it toward a stone gate in front of the distant palace!
The grand stone gate had already half-collapsed, and on the remaining half, there were still three characters that Henry Carter did not recognize.
"What are these?"
Henry Carter stared intently at the stone gate, trying to make out these three characters he had never seen before, but suddenly felt the stone gate within his dantian tremble.
With the tremor of this stone gate, three grand and desolate characters formed a sound that echoed in Henry Carter's mind: "Nantian Gate..."
Chapter 5: The Doushuai Treasure Furnace
Nantian Gate
The three characters echoed endlessly in Henry Carter's mind, as if the finest sculptor wanted to carve them permanently into his brain.
"Nantian Gate?"
Henry Carter savored these three characters carefully, subconsciously taking a deep breath, as if he could smell the desolate yet proud aura of glory from them.
"This place is called Nantian Gate? Then what exactly is Nantian Gate?"
Henry Carter once again looked around, his gaze passing over pavilions and falling upon a distant high-walled compound.
Peach trees!
Henry Carter had seen many, many peach trees, but never such gigantic ones!
Even separated by who knows how many thousands of miles, those enormous peach trees in the distance could still be seen clearly.
Each towering peach tree stood there quietly, as if it had taken tens of thousands of years to create such a spectacular scene.
"These peaches are way too big, aren't they?"
Henry Carter muttered softly. Normally, you wouldn't be able to see a peach from a hundred meters away, but now, even separated by perhaps thousands of miles, he could still see peaches as big as washbasins...
"What kind of place could grow peaches this big?"
"Pantao Garden..."
A voice as if traversing the depths of history once again echoed in Henry Carter's mind.
Pantao Garden? Henry Carter rested his chin on his hand, gazing intently at Pantao Garden, wondering if such huge peaches would taste good. Would eating such strange-looking peaches be poisonous?
Suddenly, in another palace, a pillar of fire shot up into the sky. Boiling flames soared upward, then spread out in all directions high above, like a volcano roaring and releasing lava that could easily destroy a city.
With the eruption of fire came a deafening explosion. The thick clouds trembled slightly with the blast, and Henry Carter felt a piercing buzzing in his ears. He instinctively took a step back, his gaze never leaving the distant palace. The grand and magnificent palace became even more dilapidated after the explosion.
Huge objects, carried by the erupting flames, flew out of the palace like debris from a volcanic eruption. Two blackened objects, whistling through the air, crashed down a hundred meters in front of Henry Carter.
Henry Carter wanted to dodge to the side, but his reaction was far slower than the falling objects. Only when the objects landed heavily at his feet, causing the clouds to tremble repeatedly, did he realize he should have dodged.
Henry Carter worried that if the clouds were broken by the impact, he might fall through and die from the fall.
After the tremors subsided, Henry Carter carefully examined the two items before him. One was a strange plaque, very much like the plaques every household hung at their doors on the Origin Continent.
For example, the Yi family had a plaque at their door that read: 【羿家】.
"Taishang Laojun, Doushuai Palace!"
The stone gate above his dantian gave a slight tremor, forming a deep and desolate voice that echoed in Henry Carter's mind.
Taishang Laojun? Who is that? Doushuai Palace—what does that name mean?
Henry Carter searched through all the knowledge he had learned, but found no records of Taishang Laojun or Doushuai Palace. There was no famous person called Taishang Laojun on the Origin Continent, nor such a strange name as Doushuai Palace.
"There are too many strange things here." Henry Carter quickly stopped dwelling on the unfamiliar names and shifted his attention to the other item.
"This one I know!"
Henry Carter looked at the item before him and shouted excitedly, "This thing is called a furnace!"
