I hadn’t even finished my sentence before he nearly drained that gourd of Tianyi True Water, only stopping his wild gulping at my last words, grinning slyly.
“Why don’t you have some?”
Looking at the gourd of Tianyi True Water that William Brooks handed over, I could only shake my head. “I don’t need Tianyi True Water anymore. It’s only useful for beginners in cultivation.”
I glanced at the several swords and knives he had stuck haphazardly at his waist and asked, “What are you doing with those?”
He gave me a strange look and said, “I lost my Qingming Sword, so of course I need to find replacements. These swords and knives aren’t as good as my Qingming Sword, but I’ll take the loss and not fuss about it. Just don’t fight me for them.”
I couldn’t help but laugh so hard I nearly fell over. In thousands of years, I’d never been as happy as I was today. “William, don’t make this miserable person laugh, will you? Your Qingming Sword is at least a Daoist artifact, but these are just decorative pieces for the hall. If you sold them as antiques, they’d fetch a bit, but if you want to refine them into flying swords, do you know how much effort that would take before they’re any use!?”
As I spoke, I pulled a longsword from my robe—sandalwood hilt, gold guard, green sharkskin sheath. “I’ll give you this Juying Sword.” Honestly, this Juying Sword is ten times better than his old Qingming Sword. After all, it was personally forged by the one once known as the number one immortal of the aquatic tribes, far superior to the ordinary.
Taking the Juying Sword, William Brooks danced with joy, beaming from ear to ear, but in the end, he still couldn’t bear to throw away those bits of junk I saw as nothing but scrap metal.
While we talked, he wasn’t idle. At first, I didn’t notice when he managed to get a bag, now bulging—looks like he’d already looted the Zhengyan Hall clean. Slinging the bag over his shoulder, he wanted to go scavenging with me again.
“Whatever we find belongs to whoever finds it.” With these words, you could tell William Brooks’s face was pretty thick. Even though I’d taken palace treasures, I’d stashed them away, so I still looked empty-handed. He had the nerve to say that.
Of course, I didn’t call him out.
“Where should we go first?” The clueless William Brooks asked me. After all, he saw how easily I got a top-quality sword and knew I was much more familiar with this place. If we split up, he’d probably lose out. He knew I must know where the best stuff was.
I began to explain, “There are nine main halls here. The one closest to the Jade Palace gate is the Guest Hall. Since you’re already here, I assume you’ve already looted it.”
Seeing him blush for once, I was a bit surprised. I thought his ironclad shamelessness was already impenetrable! Looks like he’s not quite there yet.
Naturally, I didn’t mind and continued, “Qionglin Palace is for growing flowers and plants. The Servants’ Hall is where the palace servants live. The Tianji Institute is the formation control center here—I can’t get in, but you can try if you want. I just visited the Huangjing Hall, and this is the Zhengyan Hall.”
“Figure out where you want to go.”
“There are three more—what are they?” William Brooks did the math; he was pretty greedy, still not satisfied.
“They’re the Zhongyuan Hall, Floating Cloud Palace, and Beast Stable.”
“Hey, what’s the Beast Stable for?”
“Immortals, you know, like to show off. Even though they can fly and travel through the air themselves, they still want to walk in style, so they find some spirit beasts or immortal birds as mounts to stand out.”
“Wow, let’s go to the Beast Stable first. I want to find a top-notch mount.”
Seeing me look over, he quickly explained, “I still can’t fly, I can only ride the air for a few dozen meters at most. I really need this, and it can be a pet too.”
“Up to you.”
I myself am a Golden-Winged Roc; there’s nothing in this world that flies faster than me, so those things are useless to me.
“I want to go to Floating Cloud Palace first. Should we split up?”
“Never mind, I’ll go with you to Floating Cloud Palace first. It’s boring alone—let’s go together, it’s more fun.” He quickly changed his mind, still afraid I’d take something good and he’d miss out.
Seeing him like that, I couldn’t say anything, so I let him follow.
I left the Zhengyan Hall and saw a pavilion by the roadside, so I walked over and sat down.
“We’re not tired yet. Can’t we rest later?” William Brooks really seemed anxious—after all, with treasures up for grabs, who wouldn’t be energized?
I smiled slightly and slapped the stone table in the pavilion.
At once, clouds and mist rose around the whole pavilion, lifting it into the air. “Ha! Aren’t you coming up? If not, I’m leaving you behind,” I called out to him.
“Wait!” After all, he’s a monster too. For ordinary people, dozens of meters up is unreachable, but he could still leap up in a single bound.
“What kind of magic treasure is this? Can you give it to me?”
“Haven’t you noticed? There are flying guest pavilions like this all over the place. Take as many as you want—there are probably a thousand or so here.” I answered indifferently.
“All of them can fly?” William Brooks’s eyes nearly popped out.
“Yeah.”
“What kind of monster are you, and what is this place anyway? If there’s no one here, why don’t we just take it all for ourselves? Why sneak around like this?”
