Henry Grant put on his police cap. “Let’s go, come with me.”
“Captain Harris, I’m currently investigating the situation. This is William Clark, also one of the eyewitnesses at the scene where the human skin was found.”
Captain Harris had a square face, spoke with clear and precise diction, and had a crew cut, giving off a very masculine vibe. He glanced at William Clark, then asked, “The statement is done, right?”
William Clark nodded. “It’s done. I’ve said everything I needed to say.”
Hearing this, Captain Harris didn’t say anything more and directly told Henry Grant, “The higher-ups have decided to conduct a thorough search of the entire campus. We don’t have enough police officers, so go contact the school administration or the student council and get some reliable people to help out.”
“Yes, sir.”
Henry Grant turned and left, and William Clark followed after him.
Once the two of them had walked some distance, Henry Grant immediately pulled a long face. “Damn, now we have to do a full-scale search.”
“They found a piece of scalp, not just some foot skin. Of course they have to do a thorough search. That’s normal.”
“William Clark, tell me, if all the murderers were as straightforward as you, wouldn’t that be great? If you’re going to kill, just kill. Why go around cutting off pieces of flesh and tossing them everywhere like trash? Now I have to play sanitation worker here.”
“……” William Clark.
……
The police led the teams, and the students from the student council were assigned under each police officer. The school turned on all the lights on campus, and the students themselves used flashlights or the torch function on their phones to start searching.
Seven or eight hundred people searched together, focusing on the area around the teaching building where the scalp was found.
The search results started coming in quickly, much easier than anyone had imagined.
Human flesh was found in the flowerbeds, in other classrooms, in the bathrooms, and even in the gap behind the vending machine. In short, within just an hour of the large-scale search, dozens of scattered pieces of human flesh were discovered.
This unconsciously made everyone search with even more enthusiasm!
Yes, William Clark noticed that the students around him were searching even more thoroughly. Even though they knew exactly what they were looking for, the high probability of actually finding the target was a real morale booster for the searchers.
Henry Grant and William Clark, on the other hand, were slacking off whenever they could. Henry Grant was something else—after being forced by his family to become a police officer, his rebelliousness had reached a perverse level. The fact that he was even willing to join that murder club revealed a lot. Deep down, he rejected his job and his police uniform.
Emma once said that all four people in that club were mentally ill, and it really made sense.
“They’re searching for human flesh, you know, parts of a corpse, but it feels like they’re playing a treasure hunt game.” Henry Grant leaned against a tree and said.
“Humans are just like that.” William Clark scanned the surroundings, then looked at Henry Grant. “Don’t move.”
“What is it?” Henry Grant froze, then followed William Clark’s gaze and looked up. Above the tree he was leaning against, hidden among the branches, was a bird’s nest. But inside the nest, there was clearly something dark and odd.
“Give me a hand, I’ll go up and take a look.” As soon as William Clark finished speaking, he started running toward Henry Grant.
Henry Grant took a horse stance and cupped his hands together. When William Clark stepped onto his hands, Henry Grant pushed upward, launching William Clark up. William Clark grabbed a branch with one hand and reached into the nest with the other, grabbing something furry, cold, and damp.
In short, the feeling was terrible, and a sense of gloom rose in William Clark’s heart. Fortunately, he was quite experienced in this area.
Jumping down from the tree, William Clark tossed the thing in his hand directly to Henry Grant. Henry Grant caught it in his arms and, looking at what he was holding, made a face like he’d just seen a ghost.
“This is possible too.”
“Your luck really is suited for being a cop. Even slacking off, you manage to find a human head.”
What Henry Grant was holding was a human head, blood still dripping, with blood oozing from the eyes, ears, nose, and mouth—a chilling and terrifying sight.
But William Clark just tossed the head to Henry Grant, and Henry Grant didn’t freak out, still able to joke around calmly. It showed that Henry Grant wasn’t as frivolous or unreliable as he usually acted.
Otherwise, he wouldn’t have joined that club and done those things. Whether he admitted it or not, deep down, he really did have the blood of a police officer in him—he just didn’t want to face it.
Taking out his phone, Henry Grant called Captain Harris directly.
“Hello, brother-in-law.”
“We’re on duty now, don’t call me brother-in-law, you should…”
Hearing the start of that sentence, Henry Grant immediately hung up, then rolled his eyes at William Clark. “Tell me, do all cops have to be like this?”
William Clark took the head, using the flashlight on his phone to examine it carefully.
