Chapter 17

Logan Grant didn’t care at all.

Last night, that bit of rebelliousness was magnified by his teammates’ mockery, and a clear idea began to form in his mind, taking root and growing deeper.

He spread his hands and sighed, “A genius’s ideas are always misunderstood by mortals…”

Then he turned and walked out of the locker room.

“Hey! What did you just say, kid?!”

“Who do you think you are? Rookie!”

“What’s he talking about? Is he provoking all of us?!”

A group of people in the locker room were burning with anger, provoked by Logan Grant. If the captain hadn’t been desperately holding them back, they might have rushed out and beaten up Logan Grant…

Lucas Sutton stared blankly at his indignant teammates, who crowded at the door, with the captain and a few others like Rick blocking the way to stop them from going out to teach Logan Grant a lesson.

First he wanted to catch up to Clark, and now he’s provoking so many people… Is that kid crazy?! In just one night, he’s changed so much. What happened to him last night?

Chapter 6: The Arrogant Rookie

On the training field, when the youth team coach Warren Oliver once again asked if anyone was willing to help Logan Grant with basic drills, still no one volunteered, but quite a few people’s expressions changed at the mention of helping Logan Grant.

Their faces turned disdainful, full of discontent, and some even shot sideways glances at Logan Grant, as if looking at a hopeless idiot.

With Warren’s words, the atmosphere on the training ground seemed to shift.

Even Warren himself could feel it.

What’s going on?

He felt puzzled.

The relationship between Logan Grant and the other players seemed to have worsened…

But everything was fine yesterday. Did something happen?

Lucas Sutton raised his hand again. “I’ll do it, sir.”

Warren nodded.

When Lucas and Logan Grant started basic drills again in the corner of the training field, Lucas couldn’t help but ask, “Are you crazy, Grant?”

Logan Grant naturally knew what he was referring to.

He shook his head. “I’m not crazy, Lucas. This is my goal. I want to become… no, I want to surpass Clark!”

“But you’re just a beginner, and Clark was already training with São Paulo’s youth team at eight years old. Do you understand the gap between you, Grant?”

Logan Grant nodded. “I know. Compared to Clark, I’m eight years behind, so I have to work even harder.”

Lucas wanted to say, “Even if you work hard, that eight-year gap isn’t something you can easily close, and while you’re training, isn’t Clark also training?” But he suddenly remembered yesterday’s training with Logan Grant, and hesitated, leaving the words unsaid.

With Logan Grant’s learning ability… maybe…

“Well, even so… you didn’t have to say that stuff about mortals and provoke everyone. Now it seems like everyone has a problem with you.” Lucas pointed his thumb at the youth team training behind him.

At this, Logan Grant got angry. He snorted, “I just can’t stand their attitude. Is Clark some untouchable god? Is no one else allowed to beat him?”

He thought of that little girl whose attitude had changed so much yesterday. It was just because he didn’t know who Clark was that she suddenly turned cold.

Is not knowing who Clark is such a serious crime?

Is aiming to surpass Clark such an unreasonable thing?

Who’s really the idiot here?

At the Brafonda training base, the first team’s training field was separated from the youth team’s by just a row of trees.

The first team and the youth team didn’t share locker rooms.

The youth team’s locker room was by their training field, while the first team’s was by theirs, with two fields and a row of trees in between.

But the distance was still fairly close.

With such proximity, news always traveled between the two sides.

After finishing a day’s training, Clark was showering and changing in the locker room.

After his shower, feeling refreshed, he went to his locker to change clothes.

Just as he finished dressing, a teammate came over.

“Clark, did you hear?” The team’s forward, Raymond, said mysteriously to Clark.

“Hear what?” Clark was confused.

“There’s a kid in the youth team who claims he’s going to beat you!”

As soon as he heard this, before Clark could respond, quite a few teammates gathered around.

“Yeah, I heard it from the youth team guys too… And you know what? The one who said this nonsense is actually a total beginner who’s only been here for two days! It’s hilarious!”

“A beginner? That’s ridiculous! What’s going on in his head?”

“Kids these days are getting more and more disrespectful…”

“Or maybe kids these days are just getting more and more arrogant…”
