Chapter 15

Little Michael had already fled out the door under Brian Harris's oppressive force. Oh my, David Parker could handle three at once without a problem, but it seemed he’d met his match today. He didn’t dare report for backup, so he could only hope that big guy would leave something for David Parker, and not beat them all to death.

As for Emily Cooper, her mood was just so-so. Though she was glad to be saved, in her eyes, these people were all in cahoots—none of them were good guys. Now that her lust had faded, the men didn’t look so handsome anymore. Of course, after sobering up, she recognized Brian Harris, and secretly decided not to hire him again.

After fighting to exhaustion, Brian Harris finally noticed the redness on Emily Cooper’s right cheek. He blamed himself for sleeping too soundly and not stepping in sooner. Otherwise—heh—if I’d saved you, you’d feel bad about giving me less pay, right?

Feeling a bit sorry, he took some ice from the freezer, wrapped it in a clean towel, and said, “Put this on, the injury isn’t serious, the swelling will go down soon.” He gently pressed the ice pack to her soft, pink cheek. Emily Cooper’s delicate body trembled slightly. Maybe because they’d already been intimate, she didn’t say anything about the ambiguous gesture, but deep down, she felt a little touched.

She glanced at the unconscious David Parker on the floor, then her cool, fox-like eyes fixed on Brian Harris: “Don’t you have a job? Why are you interviewing here? I think you’re doing pretty well at this place.” Her tone was hard to read—maybe sarcastic, maybe not. At this moment, Emily Cooper was no longer the wanton woman from before, but a proper, cool-headed office lady.

Brian Harris thought to himself, You know perfectly well how well I do my job. His shifty eyes instinctively glanced under the sheets.

As soon as Emily Cooper said that, she regretted it, feeling so embarrassed. She really had been satisfied—well, to be honest, very satisfied, and even had a bit of desire to go another round with him. However, with a woman’s reserve, there was no way she could say, “Let’s do it again.”

Seeing her alluring face flush red, Brian Harris swallowed hard, switched the hand holding the ice pack, and explained, “I’m not a professional at this, not even an amateur. I just wanted to apply for a waiter job today, but who knew that old woman would bring me here? There were two security guards at the door, so I couldn’t run even if I wanted to. Then, the next moment, you showed up.” He gave an awkward laugh, “And then, as soon as you came in, you pounced on me without a word. I didn’t even have time to react before you stripped me, and while I was still dazed, you climbed on top of me naked. Heh, what a mess, so embarrassing.”

Emily Cooper wished she could just sit on him and smother him to death. He’d taken advantage of her and was still making snide remarks. Was she really like that? She felt so wronged she was about to cry. She vaguely remembered things weren’t quite like that, but with alcohol and passion clouding her memory, she couldn’t recall clearly. She could only grit her teeth and swallow the grievance, though she hadn’t really lost out: “It’s fine, we’re all adults, and this is the kind of place it is. What’s done is done, it’s no big deal. Um, but since things are like this, could you please put your clothes on?”

“Ahem, no problem, no problem.”

After he put on his underwear, Emily Cooper suddenly realized the flaw in his story. She shot him a seductive glare: “Aren’t you supposed to be good at fighting? Then why did you say you couldn’t escape with the security guards watching?” She jerked her chin toward David Parker.

So the question was passed to comrade David Parker to answer: “He just happened to kick me down there, otherwise even ten of him wouldn’t be a match for me. Damn, let’s see what you do this time.” Clearly, David Parker had recovered. His bruised face was full of malice: “You bitch, after I deal with him, I’ll come play with you.” As he spoke, he clenched his fists and walked toward Brian Harris.

“Come on, you think I’m scared of you?” Emily Cooper puffed out her chest, staring him down without fear. She looked so brave and unyielding, it brought to mind the phrase “heroic woman.” However, when she saw him change direction and head toward her, the little vixen immediately showed her true colors—her hips wiggled like a worm, her face stayed calm but her body quietly edged backward. Her fox-like eyes quickly signaled Brian Harris: “What are you standing there for? Get in there!”

Brian Harris blinked his innocent eyes, imitating Emily Cooper, and looked at her strangely: “Why are you winking? If you have something to say, just say it.” Hmph, this little vixen, trying to seduce me again—I’m a married man, you know.

He’s definitely faking it! Emily Cooper was furious, cursing his ancestors eight generations back. Wasn’t it obvious? She was in danger, and he still wouldn’t come to her rescue? But unwilling to lose face in front of a man, Emily Cooper could only grit her teeth and stare down the advancing David Parker, hoping her 4.5 vision would make David Parker change course and go after Brian Harris instead. And, ha, her wish actually came true.

Ah! David Parker screamed again, flying two meters like a broken kite, rolling several times before finally stopping. That scream was so gut-wrenching, you couldn’t even tell if it was a man or a woman. It made all the johns on the floor call for the staff, all with the same angry expression: “Didn’t you say there were no virgins here? What was that sound about?”

Only Little Michael, shivering in the corner, knew the truth. Wiping away tears, he muttered, “Brother Kai, rest in peace.”
