Chapter 17

When a dragon swims in shallow waters, it gets teased by shrimps; when a tiger falls to the plains, it gets bullied by dogs. David Parker was frustrated—he never expected that this woman would actually hit him. What he didn’t know was that Emily Cooper had held back earlier, but now, seeing him exhausted and looking like an easy target, she couldn’t resist giving him a squeeze. The woman’s anger truly erupted this time.

At this scene, Brian Harris instinctively pressed his legs together, secretly sticking out his tongue in shock. This woman really couldn’t be offended—he’d better be careful with his words from now on, or who knows if she’d strike when he least expected it.

When they dragged the unconscious David Parker outside, Little Michael was already waiting there. Brian Harris frowned and said, “Every profession has its own rules. Even though rules are made by people, until you have the power to change them, it’s best to follow them. This guy’s still breathing—take him back.”

Little Michael didn’t dare object, forcing a smile and expressing gratitude: “I understand. I absolutely won’t do it again, never again.”

“So you can actually talk properly.” Hearing Brian Harris speak to Little Michael, Emily Cooper raised her eyebrows slightly, looking at him thoughtfully. “I thought you only knew how to brag and joke.” She had thought his ability to subdue the strong man so easily was just luck, but now… she had to admit, this man had some real skills.

“How was my serious look just now, hmm? Didn’t I have a bit of a kingly aura?”

That narcissistic expression made Emily Cooper immediately take back her earlier assessment: “Just pretend I was talking nonsense.”

After all the commotion, it was already late at night. The two discussed and decided to stay until morning before leaving. After all, they’d already been intimate, so sharing a bed wasn’t awkward anymore.

Brian Harris, showing no gentlemanly manners, rushed to shower first and dove into bed, falling asleep immediately. Beating someone up was exhausting, but Emily Cooper was so annoyed she rolled her eyes—didn’t this guy have any sense of chivalry? Didn’t he know ladies first?

However, just when Old Harris thought everything was calm and he could sleep peacefully, a piercing scream yanked him out of bed: “Brian Harris, damn it, I’m going to kill you!”

Brian Harris jolted awake, seeing Emily Cooper standing there in just a towel, looking confused: “What did I do? I was sleeping soundly and didn’t bother you.”

Emily Cooper’s enchanting face was full of anger. Her delicate hand tightened around his neck again: “You dare say you didn’t do anything? Open your eyes and look at what you’ve done! I must have been blind, listening to that madam about a newcomer and just coming here for no reason—oh my god.” She pointed to the dozen or so obvious hickeys on her body, nearly in tears. To make matters worse, there was one right on her neck—how was she supposed to go to work like this?

Her fair, creamy skin was marked with glaring red spots, her wet black hair draped over her fragrant shoulders, making her look both alluring and intimidating.

“Tch, look at this one on me—it’s not smaller or lighter than yours. Alright, we’re even.” Brian Harris said gloomily, showing Emily Cooper a small mark near the root of his thigh, just a centimeter from his manhood. Emily Cooper was so embarrassed she wanted to crawl into a hole. With the mark so close, who knew if she’d done something forbidden for him? Her pretty face was about to bleed, and she gritted her teeth, muttering, “Fine, let’s not talk about that for now. Tell me, why didn’t you use protection? You actually finished inside me. Who knows if you’re clean? If you give me some disease, I’ll kill you.”

“Didn’t I tell you? I’m not a professional, and you were so aggressive I didn’t even have time to put one on.” He yawned with a bitter face and pouted. “Let’s be clear, I’m perfectly clean. If you don’t believe me, we can go to the hospital for a checkup tomorrow.” Then, Brian Harris shivered, looking at her warily and asked timidly, “You… you don’t have anything, do you?” Cold sweat broke out on him—could it be that his one affair would be so unlucky…

“You guessed right, I have AIDS!” Seeing his nervous look, Emily Cooper really wanted to say that to scare him, but her feminine reserve held her back. Instead, she turned his suspicious gaze into a woman’s anger and threw a pillow at him.

After all, it would be bad if something happened. Emily Cooper rummaged in the nightstand and found a bottle of birth control pills. After taking one, she lay down next to the seemingly asleep Old Harris. There was only one blanket, so she gritted her teeth and decided to tough it out for the night.

But what puzzled her was that after taking the pill, she felt a burning sensation below, growing more and more intense. After all, she was a woman, and a bit of panic crept into her heart. She nudged Brian Harris beside her, wanting to ask a man for help, even if he wasn’t very reliable: “Hey, I… after I took that birth control pill, my body feels weird. Is there something wrong with the medicine? I feel so hot, mm…” Her last words trembled, turning coy and sweet, as if she were seducing him, making the blush on her face spread all the way to her ears.
