Chapter 7

The noble son Eric Bolton directly tore through the pretense, forcing Yvonne Foster to drop her own disguise and bluntly ordered Chad Sullivan to be expelled from the The Foster Family, severing their marital ties.

How rushed it all was—after transmigrating to this world, his life as a live-in son-in-law lasted just over an hour.

He could no longer rely on the The Foster Family for an easy life; it seemed he’d have to find another way to make a living.

Of course, as a doctor with X-ray vision, supporting himself and his family would be simple—he could just open a clinic.

But in his previous life, he spent every day treating patients, physically and mentally exhausted. In this life, he only wanted to enjoy wealth and luxury, to live a leisurely life.

After all the trouble of transmigrating, should he still be a doctor? That would be far too unambitious.

With such a handsome face, he couldn’t let it go to waste—he had to find an even better patron.

Hmph! You, Yvonne Foster, still look down on me as useless?

I, Chad Sullivan, don’t even care for your The Foster Family—just a family of merchants. If I’m going to find someone, it’ll be a noble with real power and influence.

But before that, he needed to build up his own reputation. With the label of “idiot” hanging over him, he’d never attract a beautiful and charming noble lady.

Who was the richest, most powerful unmarried lady within several hundred miles?

The young lady of the Xuanwu Earl’s residence, Grace Carter—that’s right, her. Yvonne Foster had just mentioned her too: the heiress of a century-old noble family, the princess of Xuanwu City!

……

Chad Sullivan had nothing to pack, since there was nothing in the The Foster Family that belonged to him, so he simply prepared to leave.

Time waits for no one—he had to hurry and start building his freeloading career.

“Bang!”

The door was thrown open again, but this time it was kicked open roughly.

Butler Foster barged in with four martial servant boys, pointed at Chad Sullivan, and shouted sternly, “How dare you, Chad Sullivan! You, a poor country bumpkin, after marrying into my The Foster Family, not only stole money from the residence but also molested the maids. Such crimes should have been punished by beating you to death, but my The Foster Family is a kind household, so we’ll spare your miserable life. The master has ordered: dissolve the marriage between Chad Sullivan and the young lady, and expel you from the The Foster Family immediately!”

Chad Sullivan smiled inwardly.

That’s more like it—if they were going to kick him out, they needed a reason, so of course they’d throw mud on his name.

In the months he’d been in the The Foster Family, he hadn’t touched a single silver coin, let alone stolen anything. As for molesting the maids, that was even more ridiculous.

“For your own life, and for the lives of your parents and brother, you should know what to say once you’re out.” Butler Foster said coldly, “Almost forgot you’re an idiot—so remember this well. Once you’re out, you say you stole money from the The Foster Family and molested the maids, that’s why you were kicked out. If you say even half a wrong word, your whole family will suffer. Understand?”

“Understood,” said Chad Sullivan.

“Get out,” said Butler Foster.

“Alright, I’m leaving.” Chad Sullivan walked out.

“Wait!” Butler Foster barked coldly, “Search him! Trash like this can’t be trusted—don’t let him steal even half a silver coin from the house.”

Several servant boys stepped forward to search him, but Chad Sullivan had nothing on him at all.

“Even the clothes you’re wearing are silk, worth a few silver coins. Someone like you would never have a chance to wear them in your life—consider yourself lucky.” Butler Foster waved his hand, “Men, throw Chad Sullivan out.”

And so, Chad Sullivan was driven out of the The Foster Family mansion by several servant boys.

……

As he was being thrown out of the The Foster Family, the maids along the way pointed and whispered about him.

“This good-for-nothing finally got kicked out.”

“He’s a pauper, freeloaded off the The Foster Family for months—he’s already gotten off easy.”

“The young lady is such an outstanding person, yet she was nominally his wife for months—what a disgrace.”

“But, he really is very handsome.”

“What’s the use of being handsome? He’s dumber than a pig, a total good-for-nothing.”

The The Foster Family was huge, a mansion covering dozens of acres—it took several minutes to walk through.

“Get lost, go back to your country dog’s den.” One of the servant boys gave Chad Sullivan a hard shove forward.

Chad Sullivan staggered and walked out the main gate of the The Foster Family.

“Bang!” The gate slammed shut behind him.

He looked up at the sky—a bright moon hung overhead; it was already night.

He thought for a moment, found the direction of his home in his memory, and started walking northwest.

It was more than forty li from here to his home—a long journey, especially at night.

After walking a few hundred meters, Chad Sullivan couldn’t help but look back at the The Foster Family mansion.

He would have his revenge, and soon—within three days!

And after that, his revenge would be relentless—a gentleman’s revenge, from dawn till dusk.

……

Yvonne Foster stood at the highest point of the pavilion, watching Chad Sullivan’s departing figure.

“This kid is lucky to be alive.” A middle-aged man’s voice came from behind her—it was the family head, Henry Foster, who had built up this great enterprise.

“Father, we were too blatant today,” Yvonne Foster frowned. “This will damage my reputation.”
