Chapter 13

William Dawson knew that John Archer was now somewhat suspicious of him—after all, he really was too suspicious.

After thinking for a moment, William Dawson finally spoke:

"Actually, I lied to you. I am not some ordinary mortal. I am an 'immortal.'"

As soon as he finished speaking, the two immediately looked at him in astonishment.

"William Dawson, what nonsense are you talking about?" Charles Cooper also interjected in William Dawson's mind, "If you get exposed, John Archer will never trust you again!"

William Dawson ignored Charles Cooper. He took a step forward and said, "You don't believe me, do you? How about this, let's do an experiment."

He pointed to Helen Archer, who was mending clothes behind John Archer, and said, "You can stitch any characters you like onto the clothes, and I will know what you stitched."

John Archer turned to look at Helen Archer, and it was obvious that both of them were filled with distrust.

"Grant Brothers, you..."

"No need to say more, just stitch!" William Dawson said firmly.

Helen Archer nodded helplessly, thought for a moment, then quickly stitched a few small characters onto the clothes with needle and thread. Because John Archer was standing in front, William Dawson couldn't see anything.

"William Dawson, what on earth are you doing?" Charles Cooper said irritably.

"Grant Brothers, I'm done stitching. Take a guess." Helen Archer held the embroidery behind her and looked at William Dawson.

William Dawson stood silently in place, eyes slightly closed, not saying a word.

"Grant Brothers?" John Archer called out as well.

"Don't rush," William Dawson said, "I need a spell."

John Archer silently took a step back and said, "Oh, then Grant Brothers, please begin your magic..."

William Dawson was no longer polite. He clapped his hands together, shouted loudly, and then began waving his arms and legs in a wild, uncoordinated manner.

Edward Bennett watched with great interest in front of the screen.

"Hahahaha! This kid is hilarious!"

Charles Cooper glared back at him and said, "Seventh Elder, be serious. What if William Dawson fails? We could all cease to exist!"

"Really? I think he's quite creative." Edward Bennett crossed his arms in front of his chest, looking confident.

Black ReaperJames Foster, however, just snorted coldly on the side and said nothing.

On the screen, William Dawson flailed about for quite a while, his movements extremely uncoordinated, showing no talent for dancing at all.

"Brother Grant... don't you have a spell...?"

"Do not interrupt!" William Dawson shouted, "This is the critical moment!"

William Dawson spun around three times on the spot, took a deep breath, and shouted the incantation:

"Hey! Charles help me Charles help me Charles help me quick look quick look quick look help me take a look, urgent as the law commands!"

Silence.

Not only was the room silent, but the entire Legend Management Bureau seemed frozen.

What the heck was that?

Helen Archer and John Archer both curled their toes in embarrassment.

They had never seen such a ridiculous spell in their lives.

"Hahahaha!" Edward Bennett laughed loudly, "See, I told you this kid is hilarious."

Charles Cooper said helplessly, "William Dawson, if you really need my help, you could have told me in advance. If you ambush me like this and I don't react in time, what then?"

William Dawson listened and, unhurriedly, spun around three more times and shouted:

"Hey!"

Then he muttered, "Then let's die together die together die together die together..."

Charles Cooper gritted his teeth, while Edward Bennett behind him was laughing so hard he could barely breathe.

"Sigh..." Charles Cooper sighed softly, then turned the screen, looked carefully, and said, "Helen Archer stitched—'The moon rises bright.'"

So that's how it was.

William Dawson took a deep breath, pressed his hands down as if finishing his act, and then slowly said to the two, "If I'm not mistaken, Miss Helen Archer stitched—The moon rises bright."

Helen Archer looked incredulous as she took out John Archer's clothes from behind her.

John Archer hurried to look as well, and sure enough, at the collar, the four characters "月出皎兮" were stitched.

"'The moon rises bright,' when the moon comes out it is bright and clear. It seems Miss Helen Archer really likes the moon," William Dawson said, pretending to be deep.

"Grant Brothers, you even know that?" John Archer was shocked, "You really are an immortal, though your way of casting spells is quite strange..."

"Don't worry about my way of casting spells," William Dawson said. "Now, can you tell me about those six monsters?"

The two exchanged a glance, and Helen Archer began to explain, "Grant Brothers, are you here to slay the monsters?"

"Something like that. Slaying monsters is my side job; I have a main job too."

John Archer shook his head, "Grant Brothers truly is an immortal—everything you say is hard to understand."

"In fact, there aren't six monsters, only four. That Yayu was originally a divine beast raised by the late emperor. After the emperor died, Yayu returned to the Weak Water. But alas, even the three thousand Weak Waters couldn't withstand the scorching sun. Yayu lost its habitat and could only wander the world. But Yayu has a human face and a beast's body—anyone who sees it feels it's ominous. Over time, it became known as a monster. Countless warriors went to subdue it, and in doing so, they enraged it. As for the Xi Snake, it was originally a water creature, and now, like Yayu, can only wander everywhere."

"This..." William Dawson pondered slightly, "How do you know all this?"
