Chapter 18

Violet Bennett grew increasingly shocked and worried, saying, “What mistake did my little brother make, or is someone causing him trouble again?”

Chad Sullivan gave a wry smile and said, “Neither. Your little brother, today he actually, actually did it.”

Violet Bennett’s beautiful, slender eyebrows knitted together slightly as she said, “Big Brother Sullivan, what are you talki... ah, what did you say?” She couldn’t help but raise her voice at the end.

Chad Sullivan held up a finger and gently shushed her, saying softly, “Quiet.”

Realizing her loss of composure, Violet Bennett nodded gratefully, but still couldn’t help asking, “Big Brother Sullivan, are you saying my little brother succeeded in manifesting divine grace?”

Although she was almost certain this was the case, she still found it hard to believe.

Manifesting divine grace—even many mid-level star force cultivators at the fourth or fifth stage strive bitterly for this goal.

Star stages are powers that those with fate can cultivate. Each advancement in stage grants a chance to temper the body, greatly enhancing one’s constitution.

However, the true measure of a star stage cultivator’s strength, aside from the difference in stage, lies in whether they can obtain the ability to manifest divine grace.

Only by gaining this ability does one truly receive divine favor, and gain the powerful strength to fight above one’s level.

This was an enormous joy for Logan Bennett.

However, after the initial ecstasy, Violet Bennett’s expression couldn’t help but turn a little strange.

Chad Sullivan said gently, “Violet, you’ve thought it through too, haven’t you?”

Violet Bennett nodded lightly and said, “Big Brother Sullivan, you’re absolutely right, this must not be publicized.”

Chad Sullivan replied softly, “I understand, so I had Uncle Fu return early. Other than you and me, no one else knows about this.” He paused, then said, “But, what do you plan to do? This can’t be hidden forever.”

Violet Bennett thought for a moment and said, “I was already planning to have my little brother take the divine grace entry test before I left. Since that’s the case, let’s do it ahead of schedule.” She smiled proudly and said, “Since I was able to obtain the art of manifesting divine grace during the entry test, it’s not surprising for my little brother to gain this art under divine blessing.”

Chad Sullivan let out a long breath and said, “That’s the only way. But…” His gaze was rather odd as he said, “I always thought you were the most favored by the gods of anyone I’ve ever met, but I didn’t expect Logan to surpass you.”

Violet Bennett beamed and said, “He’s my little brother, of course he’s extraordinary.”

Chad Sullivan shook his head slightly, as if wanting to say something, but in the end held back. He only grumbled inwardly, You two siblings… are just too enviable.

Composing himself, Chad Sullivan said gently, “Logan is over there, go talk to him yourself. During the test, have him hold back a little. If he accidentally surpasses the benchmark you set back then, it might cause another big problem.”

Violet Bennett nodded with a smile and said, “I understand. But even if it’s trouble, it doesn’t matter. The city lord has already promised me that once the one-year ban is over, I can take my little brother to the continent.”

Chad Sullivan was momentarily stunned, then offered his heartfelt congratulations with a broad smile.

At his urging, Violet Bennett headed toward the inner courtyard, while he quietly left the Yu family. As he pushed open the main gate, his expression finally changed ever so slightly.

It was a look of envy, regret, pain, and a sense of inferiority.

Violet, the gap between us is growing ever wider. I can no longer keep up with your pace. Now, even hoping to catch a glimpse of your back has become a luxury, hasn’t it?

Violet Bennett naturally had no idea what Chad Sullivan was thinking; all her thoughts were focused on her little brother. With a few quick steps, she arrived at Logan Bennett’s bedroom. This time, before she could even knock, the door had already opened.

A flash of surprise appeared in her eyes as Violet Bennett exclaimed, “Little brother, did you know I was coming?”

Logan Bennett grinned and said, “Sister, I was just about to go look for you, but you’re already back. I guess we’re just in sync.” He was spouting nonsense, but inwardly he thought, Your footsteps were so loud, of course I knew.

Violet Bennett reached out and tapped his forehead lightly in mock annoyance, saying, “Don’t be mischievous.” Her expression turning stern, she said seriously, “You can manifest divine grace now? Show me.”

Even though she knew Chad Sullivan would never lie to her about this, she still couldn’t wait to see it for herself.

Logan Bennett nodded, took a deep breath, and raised his hand. Instantly, a faint light rose from his palm. In the next moment, the light grew from dim to bright, becoming dazzling in the blink of an eye. Then, a lifelike mouse appeared in Logan Bennett’s palm. The mouse shot a cold glance at Violet Bennett, and the chill in its eyes made her feel as if she had fallen into an ice cellar.
