Apart from feeling hungry, there was only that sensation of true energy pulsing like a drum. Henry Clark didn’t dare continue cultivating; by now, he had already broken the rules—he hadn’t cleaned the cultivation rooms for two days.
Fortunately, he knew that very few people cultivated on the seventh floor, and that Old Parker wouldn’t really bother with him. Henry Clark didn’t immediately go out to clean the cultivation rooms; instead, he continued practicing a new spell—Dust Removal. From now on, after each cultivation session, he should use Dust Removal to get rid of the grime on his body, rather than going downstairs to find water to wash.
It wasn’t until the early morning of the third day that Henry Clark used Dust Removal to clean himself up, and then went to tidy the cultivation rooms.
Just as he expected, there weren’t many people cultivating in the seventh-floor rooms. Even though he hadn’t cleaned for three days, there were still several clean cultivation rooms left unused.
……
In the days that followed, Henry Clark kept hiding out on the seventh floor to cultivate, and also took advantage of cleaning duties to practice various spells in the cultivation rooms. The only regret was that while practicing spells in the rooms, there was no spiritual energy to support him.
Time passed quickly, and in the blink of an eye, ten days had gone by. During this time, Julia Foster hadn’t come looking for Henry Clark even once. Henry Clark also rarely went out, focusing all his attention on cultivation.
But after advancing to the third level of Qi Gathering, Henry Clark started to panic. Once he reached the third level, he could no longer sense that mysterious spiritual source within his body. Henry Clark knew very well that without the support of that mysterious spiritual source, even if he cultivated for a lifetime, he would never be able to advance from the third to the fourth level of Qi Gathering.
In the days that followed, Henry Clark repeatedly cultivated, but was never again able to experience that pure, abundant spiritual energy supporting him from within. His cultivation stagnated, though he did manage to master several simple spells. Right after advancing to the third level of Qi Gathering, guided by the modified cultivation method, he even upgraded Fireball Spell to Fire Blade Spell.
Even so, Henry Clark was still extremely anxious. Without the support of the mysterious spiritual source, he would be stuck at the third level of Qi Gathering for life.
Henry Clark decided to go out and look for Julia Foster. With no progress in cultivation, he didn’t want to stay in this stone house any longer. He had just packed up and hadn’t yet opened the door when he heard a “bang”—his small stone house’s door was kicked open by someone.
Chapter 0009: A Major Event at the Academy
Standing at the door were a man and a woman, both cultivators. Henry Clark was already at the third level of Qi Gathering, and could tell at a glance that the man was at the fourth level, and the woman at the third. The man was tall and good-looking, but his narrow eyes made his height seem somewhat superfluous.
“You’re the janitor who cleans the cultivation rooms here?” The woman glanced at Henry Clark, saw he was only at the first level of Qi Gathering, and a flash of disdain crossed her eyes.
Henry Clark had already planned to leave anyway. Whatever Old Parker wanted to do was none of his business. He hadn’t expected, though, that just as he was about to leave, someone would kick his door open.
“What gives you the right to kick my door?” Henry Clark didn’t answer the woman’s question at all, but asked directly.
The narrow-eyed man saw that Henry Clark actually dared to talk back, and immediately stepped forward. “What, I kicked your door and you’re not happy? Today, not only will I kick your door, I’ll slap your face too. What can you do about it…”
Before he finished speaking, his hand was already raised.
“How impressive.” A cold voice rang out, and the narrow-eyed man’s hand froze in midair.
Henry Clark had been ready to fight back when he saw the man about to attack, but hadn’t expected someone else to speak up. Now he saw who it was—a woman who had just come out of a cultivation room. Not only was her voice icy, but her face was equally expressionless.
In terms of looks alone, she was no less beautiful than Emily Bennett. What surprised Henry Clark wasn’t her appearance, but her cultivation—she was already at the sixth level of Qi Gathering.
“Senior Sister Cooper.” The narrow-eyed man recognized the woman at once and hurriedly cupped his fists in greeting. The third-level female cultivator beside him also quickly stepped forward to pay her respects.
The woman called Senior Sister Cooper snorted coldly and turned to leave, but as she turned, she caught sight of Henry Clark. She immediately stopped, walked over, frowned, and said, “You’re Henry Clark? Julia Foster’s fiancé?”
Henry Clark cupped his fists calmly and replied, “I am Henry Clark. Greetings, Senior Sister Cooper.”
Seeing that Senior Sister Cooper actually knew Henry Clark, the narrow-eyed man quickly added, “Senior Sister Cooper, I dropped a sound chime in the cultivation room. I hadn’t been gone long when I came back to look for it, but couldn’t find it. On the seventh floor, the only one who can enter the cultivation rooms, apart from this janitor…”
Before he could finish, Senior Sister Cooper interrupted him. “Robert Hill, you know who Henry Clark is, right? The Meteor Star Five-Star Academy is about to come to Cangqin Two-Star Academy to recruit ten disciples, and the selection is about to begin. James Carter will definitely return. William Carter thought Julia Foster was easy to bully, but ended up getting injured by her instead. When James Carter comes back, Julia Foster won’t be able to escape, so you’re here to teach Henry Clark a lesson and then take him away to humiliate Julia Foster.”
