The Elder was momentarily speechless, then shook his head and laughed, “Benjamin Grant, oh Benjamin Grant, you really are just a mortal after all—your state of mind is still lacking!”
As the grandfather and granddaughter spoke, the convoy was already approaching The Grant Estate.
“Old Mr. Grant, we’ve arrived.”
The carriage stopped, and The Elder led the exquisitely beautiful, princess-like Young Lady down from the carriage. Two rows of lanterns hung high on the wooden gate. In front of the gate, Ryan Grant, Owen Grant, and others who had received word and were waiting in advance, felt anxious and uneasy.
“May I ask which distinguished guest has come to my The Grant Estate, and for what purpose?” As soon as The Elder got off the carriage, Ryan Grant stepped forward respectfully and spoke.
“Whose child are you? Is Matthew Grant still alive?” The Elder asked.
Ryan Grant lowered his head, looking at his feet. “Honored guest, Matthew Grant is my father! My father is in good health.”
“You’re little Yu? Don’t you recognize Uncle Benjamin?” The Elder laughed heartily, his long gloomy mood seeming to brighten.
“You’re... Uncle Benjamin?” Ryan Grant was overjoyed, stepped forward, and knelt on the ground. “Ryan Grant greets Uncle Benjamin!”
The Elder helped Ryan Grant up. “Come, take me to see your father.”
As they spoke, the group entered through the main gate.
“What a beautiful Young Lady!”
“She’s just like a princess! Her clothes are so pretty!”
“Is that the legendary flood-dragon horse? So majestic!”
The whole village, young and old, curiously surrounded the convoy. Some bold children even tried to tease the “flood-dragon horse,” but were scared off, tumbling and crawling, by a single snort from the beast.
“Haha!”
“Silly kids!”
“Don’t mess around! I heard a flood-dragon horse can carry ten thousand jin, and a single hoof can stomp a tiger or leopard to death!”
Logan Grant strode through the gate, carrying several hundred jin of firewood on his shoulder.
“Why is it so lively? The whole village has come out?” Logan Grant wondered. “Make way! Everyone, make way!”
Logan Grant was small, and the pile of firewood, several hundred jin, was twice his height. From a distance, it looked like a walking stack of wood!
“Grandpa, look at him!” Young Lady let out a bell-like laugh, tugging at The Elder’s sleeve. “He’s so little, but carrying so much wood! Amazing!” The Elder turned to glance.
“That’s Lucas Grant’s boy, only ten years old and already has perfect strength! Every morning he goes to the mountains to chop wood and trades it with villagers for meat and mountain goods,” Owen Grant explained as he walked alongside.
“He’s a good kid!” The Elder nodded. With his sharp eyes, The Elder could naturally see that this boy had already broken through the second stage. But to The Elder, the mere second stage of Foundation Establishment was nothing worth mentioning! The Elder had seen too many genius youths; Logan Grant was nothing special.
“Without a special physique, the Life Establishment Realm is his limit! He’ll never become a true powerhouse!”
The Elder’s expression was calm as he glanced at the boy, golden light flickering deep in his eyes, seeing through Logan Grant’s entire body in an instant.
Carrying firewood through the crowd, Logan Grant also noticed The Elder and his group.
“Tsk tsk! Ten flood-dragon horses! They must be rich!”
“That little girl is pretty cute!”
“Those four in red scale armor are all experts! They look so strong!”
Logan Grant muttered to himself, but didn’t stop walking, heading toward his own yard. In the crowd, his expression didn’t change, as if he were walking through the wilderness, calm and composed.
Chapter 0009: Demon Beast Egg!
Logan Grant naturally had no idea he’d been seen through, or that others thought his potential was lacking and he’d never become a powerhouse.
Carrying the firewood into his own yard, “Dad, I’m back.”
Lucas Grant was in the yard pasting lanterns, and didn’t even look up when he saw Logan Grant return. “Food’s on the table, eat by yourself.”
“Got it!” Logan Grant went to a corner of the yard, scooped a few mouthfuls of water from a bucket, then entered the house, where a pot of wild boar stewed with radish sat on the table.
Logan Grant ate heartily, activating the “Serpent Devours the Stars Manual” he had already begun to master. His stomach burned, and his digestion, ten times that of an ordinary person, kicked in. As Logan Grant devoured the food, waves of heat spread from his stomach throughout his body, making all his bones and muscles tremble slightly.
“Whew!”
He swallowed several jin of meat and soup, even the bones. Logan Grant returned to his room, sat cross-legged on the bed, and entered the mirror world.
……
Southeast of The Grant Estate, in an old courtyard that had long been uninhabited and was now partly collapsed.
The Elder and his group stood outside the door. Owen Grant rubbed his bald head. “Uncle Benjamin, this old courtyard of yours is no longer fit to live in! You should stay at my place!” Ryan Grant lowered his head awkwardly. “You haven’t been back in years, and the place hasn’t been cleaned.”
The Elder didn’t mind. “No matter, just tidy it up a bit.”
Before The Elder could give orders, the servants had already hurried inside to clean.
“Ah!”
A startled cry rang out! A guard in red scale armor suddenly sprang into action, leaping into the courtyard. Soon after, he dragged out a corpse.
The corpse wore a short armor and held a curved blade. Even in the dead of winter, a stench wafted from it.
“Old Mr. Grant, this corpse was at the peak of the fifth stage of Foundation Establishment in life! Cause of death: chest and abdomen pierced by a giant claw!” The guard who had entered reported in a low voice, flipping the corpse over to reveal a huge claw mark that had pierced the short armor. The mercury-like blood had already dried.
Owen Grant and the others blushed, unable to speak, never expecting such a thing to happen.
Young Lady Lianxing stepped out from behind The Elder, her face showing not a trace of fear.
