Chapter 12

Julius Caesar was under house arrest in a room, with plenty to eat and drink. His fate was in the hands of the Sea Dragon King, and for now, all he could do was stay put obediently.

The door opened. No one else could open it, but the little mermaid princess was unstoppable—unless someone wanted to die.

Clara curiously sized up this weak little Sheoubei boy, about her age, with no hard armor on his body—clearly a powerless good-for-nothing. On his head was that ugly shell cap unique to his kind; it was truly hideous. She really couldn’t understand what Eleanor saw in such an idiot.

Julius Caesar was amazed by the little girl’s beauty. In his mind, Eleanor was already beautiful enough, but he hadn’t expected someone else to be almost as lovely. Still, to Julius Caesar, Eleanor was the most beautiful of all.

Clara was furious. This little shell-tribe slave actually ignored her! She was the mermaid princess, famed for both beauty and wisdom, praised by all—yet he dared to disregard her.

“Hey, what’s your name?”

Her voice was pleasant, but Julius Caesar had no time to bother with her. All he could think about was how to escape.

“Hey, you! Why aren’t you kneeling and saluting when you see the princess? Believe it or not, I’ll have the guards chop you up!”

Julius Caesar couldn’t care less about her. Beauty couldn’t fill his stomach.

“You—hmph!” The enraged Clara didn’t hesitate; she shot a jet of water straight at Julius Caesar’s head. He instinctively dodged, but was still knocked flying, and anger flared in his heart.

Truly, kindness invites bullying, seahorses get ridden, and if a sea dragon doesn’t lose its temper, it’s mistaken for a vest.

With a whoosh, a water jet sent Clara tumbling.

With Clara’s skills, she’d never be hit by such a water jet if she were serious. But she never expected a little Sheou slave to dare fight back—or even know magic.

“You—you—you—how dare you hit me! Even my father has never hit me!”

“So what? I hit you, didn’t I? Who told you to attack me for no reason?”

“You—go to hell!”

Furious, Clara went berserk, not caring about anything else. The guards outside kept their eyes down and pretended not to hear a thing. The princess was untouchable, and that boy was no easy matter either.

The room was far too small for Clara to move freely, and her combat experience was no match for Julius Caesar’s. Soon, the two were grappling hand-to-hand. Mermaids brawling… compared to the audience, it was quite a sight. Very quickly, Julius Caesar used his strength to pin the proud mermaid princess beneath him.

Clara struggled desperately, but at that moment, she couldn’t remember any magic. Her beautiful tail was pinned by a male—utter humiliation, absolute disgrace. Mermaid females could freely transform their tails after turning sixteen, and after adulthood, prolonged contact with a male would also turn their tails into legs. But Clara was only ten. Proud as she was, the most beautiful tail among mermaids suddenly transformed into a pair of slender legs. Both of them were stunned by the change.

Suddenly, Julius Caesar felt a sharp pain in his arm and quickly jumped up. “You—you bit me!”

Tears filled Clara’s eyes. She wanted nothing more than to bite this guy to death. Fortunately, her legs soon reverted unsteadily back to a tail. Never in her life had she been bullied so badly.

No, this isn’t over. I’ll have him chopped into a thousand pieces and stewed in shell soup.

Watching Princess Clara dash away, the two guards let out a long sigh of relief. Thank Poseidon nothing major happened.

The only unlucky one was Julius Caesar, who got beaten up for no reason and now had a row of bite marks on his arm.

Chapter Four: The Insurmountable Chasm of the First Kiss (Part 2)

In the splendid and elegant mermaid palace sat two people, dressed in exquisite, noble royal attire, exuding the aura of rulers. These were the two kings of the sea clans.

“Carlson, it’s been a long time,” said the mermaid king Ellis with a smile. Time had flown by, but it hadn’t changed the appearance of the two kings much. Still, the deep and complex memories made them both a bit sentimental.

“Ellis, you’re still the same as ever.” The Sea Dragon King Ellis looked even more imposing and authoritative than the handsome mermaid king.

“Heh, during the Divine Moon War, you and I each led an offensive in different directions. It’s been seven or eight years since we last met. Looks like your little daughter takes after you back then.”

“The past is hard to recall. Sorry for the trouble—I had no choice, being pressured from both sides.”

“Haha, you don’t know how lucky you are. Two great royal families want to marry into yours, and I bet there are plenty of suitors within your own dragon clan too. As a father, having such a daughter should make you overjoyed.”

“Oh, after all these years you’re still the same—always boosting yourself by praising others, afraid I’ll forget you have a beautiful little princess, right? Princess Clara is famous far and wide, haha.”

Mentioning their daughters, both men couldn’t help but laugh heartily. As the host, it would be awkward to bring it up, but as a guest, he couldn’t not ask.

“I heard Eleanor caused you quite a bit of trouble as soon as she arrived?”

The mermaid king tactfully explained the situation. After all, it was best not to spread such things around.

The more he spoke, the darker the Sea Dragon King’s face became. This couldn’t get out—otherwise, their royal family’s reputation would be ruined. A Sheou commoner and a Sea Dragon princess—this would become the talk of the entire sea clan.
