Chapter 4

"Little sister, thank you. But there's no need. As for Samuel Clark, that bastard, I'll deal with him myself."

Charles Bennett spoke softly.

Emily Bennett was taken aback. She lifted her head from Charles Bennett's embrace, her big eyes reflecting Charles Bennett's unfocused gaze, filled with surprise. Her third brother seemed different today.

Usually, he acted carelessly, hanging out with a bunch of unruly friends—he never seemed like someone who would say such things.

"By the way, third brother, you still haven't told me. What is a 'transmigrator'? What does 'transmigrator' mean? How come I've never heard of it?"

Emily Bennett suddenly remembered something, her round eyes fixed on Charles Bennett, with two big question marks in them. After all this talk, the thing she cared about most still hadn't been addressed.

She was quite dissatisfied with Charles Bennett about this.

"Well—"

Even with Charles Bennett's thick skin, hearing his little sister's question made him unconsciously rub his nose, looking a bit embarrassed.

The whole "transmigrator" thing started when he first crossed over from another universe into this world. Back then, he was full of resentment, unable to adapt to anything, knowing no one, and just felt like a fleeting passerby in this world, like an illusory bubble.

It just so happened that his little sister, with her pigtails and feisty attitude, came running over to find him, calling him "third brother." On a whim, he teased her and told her to call him a "transmigrator."

But his little joke, his sister took seriously. She kept asking him, again and again, what a "transmigrator" was. Thinking back, it must have been that time.

Recalling this, Charles Bennett felt incredibly awkward.

"A transmigrator, well, it just means a handsome guy."

"Handsome guy?" His little sister's eyes widened, even more confused.

"It means a cool young man!"

Charles Bennett burst out laughing.

"Brother, you're lying to me!"

His little sister immediately flew into a rage. She might be young, but she wasn't that easy to fool.

"Little sister, I just remembered—Father is probably coming back soon. You'd better hurry back, or if you get caught, it'll be trouble!"

Cold sweat broke out on Charles Bennett's forehead as he quickly changed the subject. His little sister was simple-minded and trusted him deeply, but if she found out he was lying, with her astonishing strength, if she lost her temper, he'd be in for a world of pain.

"Hmph!!"

Her cheeks puffed up in anger, and she couldn't calm down. She might be young, but she wasn't that easy to trick. Her brother clearly wasn't telling the truth.

Charles Bennett coaxed and cajoled her, finally managing to get her to leave. But as she left, she was clearly still angry and dissatisfied:

"Father will be back soon. Mother asked me to call you, and told you to remember to come to the main hall for dinner!"

"Boom!"

Hearing this, it was as if a thunderclap rumbled through his mind, and Charles Bennett suddenly felt a chill in his heart.

His little sister said this and stormed out the door in a huff.

Charles Bennett wiped his forehead, feeling a handful of cold sweat. He really thought she had snuck in, but in the end, she had fooled Father, but there was no way to escape Mother's sharp eyes!

But then again, it wasn't surprising. With his little sister's abilities, how could she possibly escape the Buddha's Five Finger Mountain?

Once his little sister left, Charles Bennett closed the door, leaned against the wall, tilted his head back slightly, and stared at the high ceiling. His expression grew cold, and his face gradually calmed down.

Too many strange things had happened today—he needed time to think it all through.

Scenes from the moment before his death flashed through his mind again, and the last thing he saw—the shooting star—became clearer and clearer. Some distant memories seemed to have faded, but now they were crystal clear.

Charles Bennett remembered perfectly: on another Earth in the year 2022, in the heat of summer, he was walking down the street when a meteor fell from the sky and struck him, bringing him to this unfamiliar world.

When he first transmigrated here, he thought there would be some "transmigrator's perks," but in reality, everything was ordinary. Even up to the moment of his "death," aside from being the son of a general, he seemed no different from any other normal human.

That meteor, that mysterious meteor, aside from bringing him to this strange world far from his own universe, showed no other miracles.

He never expected that, at the moment of his death, it would suddenly reappear.

"Was it resentment? Or just unwillingness at the end?"

Charles Bennett's heart surged with emotion.

No matter what, he really had come back. He had truly returned to thirty years ago! This year, he was fifteen, and his little sister was ten!

The Divine Continent of the Central Lands was ushering in the most prosperous and powerful era in its history!

Whether it was the Qin Dynasty or the Han, there had never been a dynasty that expanded its territory as vastly as the current one. From the East Sea in the east, to the Onion Ridge in the west, from Jiaozhi in the south, to Yin Mountain in the north—all were under the empire's control.

With an army of six hundred thousand, the Great Tang unified the Divine Continent, suppressing all the barbarian nations on the borders. The military was filled with brilliant generals, said to have a hundred stars shining together, and even the nomads submitted to this mighty empire.

In just a few decades, the empire's territory had expanded again and again, finally reaching its current extent.
