Chapter 1

Volume One: Ninety-Nine Supreme Chapter One: The Civilization of the Sword

  "Pa."

The door was pushed open, and Carrie Lincoln strode in.

However, when he saw what his friend Charles Lincoln was doing in the room, he was instantly stunned.

Charles Lincoln raised one hand slightly, a faint trace of battle energy silently floated in his palm. Whenever it was about to dissipate, he would increase the output of his battle energy to keep the aura from vanishing.

Carrie Lincoln watched for a moment. Seeing that the battle energy in his hand still hadn't dispersed and that he wasn't making a move, he couldn't help but ask, "What the heck are you doing, wasting your battle energy? Don't tell me you got your brain scrambled after that fight with the beautiful Grace Lincoln. Seriously, don't be too upset. Miss Lincoln is recognized as one of the top ten experts in our academy—getting schooled by her is nothing to be ashamed of. In fact, you should be proud! Think about it, has anyone who tried to mess with her ever had a good ending? It's already a miracle if there's no blood. But you, you just got frozen for a bit, not even a scratch—people would be jealous if they heard about it."

Charles Lincoln—or rather, William Lincoln—completely ignored him, not even lifting his head, lost in thought.

Carrie Lincoln had absolutely no sense of not disturbing others' research. He plopped down next to William Lincoln, grinning and joking, "So, how was it, getting that close to the beautiful Grace Lincoln? How powerful is that Zero-Degree Ice Seal? Does that so-called soul-freezing effect really exist? If it doesn't, I might just try flirting with Miss Lincoln myself. After all, getting frozen for a bit doesn't cost you an arm or a leg. It's cold, sure, but if you get to flirt with Miss Lincoln, what's a little cold?"

"Soul-freezing." William Lincoln shook his head, saying nothing.

As for whether the soul-freezing effect of the Zero-Degree Ice Seal really existed, Charles Lincoln was the best example.

Because the current Charles Lincoln was no longer the old Charles Lincoln, but rather the ancient martial artist William Lincoln, who, after being attacked by the True Dragon Qi on Earth, crossed space to arrive here.

From the lingering memories, he learned that the previous Charles Lincoln had lost his soul to Grace Lincoln's Zero-Degree Ice Seal sword technique after flirting with the academy's number one beauty, leaving no trace behind. If not for William Lincoln's timely arrival in his body, Charles Lincoln would have become nothing more than a faint, unremarkable memory.

"Hey, hey, don't be so cool, man. Tell your buddy—what was it like flirting with the beautiful Grace Lincoln? How did it feel? We're bros, right? Let's analyze it."

William Lincoln frowned slightly. If it weren't for the fact that he had just arrived in this new world and didn't want to cause trouble due to his lack of understanding, he would have kicked Carrie Lincoln out long ago for being so annoying, instead of letting him make such a racket.

He looked up at Carrie Lincoln and said, "In that battle, I seemed to have gained some insight, so I plan to go into seclusion and cultivate for a while."

"Gained some insight?" Carrie Lincoln's eyes widened: "Are you kidding me? You're already a level-three swordsman—if you gain any more insight, won't you reach level four, a mid-tier swordsman? Seriously?"

  William Lincoln said nothing.

His attitude made Carrie Lincoln take it as confirmation, and he burst out laughing: "Haha! There are only eleven level-four swordsmen in our entire academy. Looks like our dorm is about to get famous. Charlie, my good brother, when you make it big, don't forget your best buddy! You know..."

Seeing that Carrie Lincoln was about to ramble on endlessly, William Lincoln's tone grew faintly impatient: "If you keep talking, the bit of inspiration I have left will be gone because of your noise."

Carrie Lincoln acted as if startled, quickly jumping back a few steps and waving his hands: "Alright, I won't bother you. Go on, cultivate, hurry up and reach level four!"

William Lincoln closed his eyes again, his hand still slightly extended, controlling a wisp of battle energy floating above his palm. He focused his mind, sensing every subtle effect the movement of battle energy had on his body, analyzing the pros and cons of battle energy cultivation.

Carrie Lincoln watched for a while, seeing that he might be in for hours of enlightenment, and couldn't sit still any longer. He stood up and said, "Bro, good luck! Whether our dorm gets famous, whether we brothers can finally stop being single, it's all up to you. You can't let us down! I won't disturb you anymore, work hard." With that, seeing William Lincoln unresponsive, he chuckled as usual and left.

As for Carrie Lincoln's departure, William Lincoln didn't even lift his head, still fully focused on the battle energy, faintly sensing something.
