Chapter 9

“Tch, even a level-three swordsman dares to come out and embarrass himself, wasting my precious time.”

“I remember now, I know this guy. He challenged Diana Lincoln Grace Lincoln senior just the day before yesterday. At that time, he was hit by Diana Lincoln’s special sword technique, Absolute Zero Freeze. I heard that skill can even cause some frostbite to the soul. I guess this poor guy must have been frozen silly.”

As soon as this speculation was voiced, many of the students present nodded in agreement, thinking it made sense. Instantly, the way they looked at William Lincoln was no longer as contemptuous as before, and there was even a hint of sympathy.

William Lincoln paid no attention to their idle gossip. As a cultivator, if he couldn’t even maintain this bit of composure, then his whole life would have been for nothing.

“You two wait here.” William Lincoln said to Carrie Lincoln and Lincoln beside him, not stopping for a moment as he walked straight onto the dueling stage, which was about a foot high.

“Charlie, be careful! If you can’t win, don’t try to be a hero!” Carrie Lincoln was clearly worried.

William Lincoln nodded indifferently, walked onto the platform, gripped his sword in one hand, and stood in front of Katherine Lincoln.

“All right, talking to you is just a waste of my precious time. Dealing with you will only take one move.”

“I could say the same to you.” William Lincoln nodded to the referee in charge of this match, “Please begin.”

Katherine Lincoln’s expression changed, and he snarled, “Kid, I’ll make sure you die a miserable death!”

The referee nodded, noticing the tension between the two, and said, “Although this is a personal grudge, you must show restraint. If you intend to kill, you’ll bear the consequences yourself.” With that, he waved his hand, “Begin!”

“Come on, kid. Today I’ll show you what a real gap in strength looks like.” Katherine Lincoln didn’t even bother to draw his sword, casually beckoning to William Lincoln with his finger. A master who had been a level-four swordsman for a year, facing a level-three swordsman—wasn’t this a piece of cake? Anyone with common sense knew how this match would end.

“Katherine Lincoln big brother, you have to teach this brat a good lesson! Let them learn how to speak properly in the future!” Jane Lincoln shouted loudly from outside the arena.

Katherine Lincoln turned his head, gave her a slight smile, and made an OK gesture. “Don’t worry, when have I ever let you down? In a moment, I’ll have this kid kneeling and begging for mercy, kowtowing to apologize to you.”

William Lincoln smiled faintly. As soon as the referee finished speaking, he suddenly pushed off with his foot, charging rapidly toward Katherine Lincoln, completely ignoring his opponent’s taunts. At the same time, he raised his sword with one hand, his muscles trembling rhythmically as he gathered his strength. With a flick of his wrist, the entire longsword whistled through the air as he threw it.

“Are you kidding me?!”

A chorus of shocked cries erupted from the students watching below.

“It’s just started and he’s already thrown away his sword? How is a swordsman supposed to fight without a sword? With martial skills?”

“This kid is hopelessly stupid.”

Katherine Lincoln saw the sword coming at him with great force, cursed under his breath, and quickly dodged to the side to avoid the thrown sword. This sudden move interrupted the fancy sword technique he had been preparing. In that brief delay, the dozens of meters between them were rapidly closed by William Lincoln’s swift charge, and his exquisite combat skills were unleashed in an instant.

“Damn, what the hell?!” With his opponent closing in, Katherine Lincoln had no time to show off and hurriedly retreated.

But how could his hasty retreat compare to William Lincoln’s well-prepared assault?

To be caught at close range by William Lincoln when their strengths were similar? Whether it was the old masters of the ancient martial world or the special forces protecting national leaders, they all knew what that meant.

Unfortunately, this wasn’t Earth, and no one had told Katherine Lincoln the consequences of letting a former grandmaster of ancient martial arts get close.

William Lincoln, carrying the momentum of his charge, shifted his steps in a dazzling footwork to dodge Katherine Lincoln’s futile sword swings, and in a flash, he was right in front of him. He planted one foot behind Katherine Lincoln’s heel, and with both hands aimed at his chest, ten fingers bent, knuckles tensed, unleashing all his power with the added acceleration, breaking through the air between them and striking Katherine Lincoln’s chest with a heavy blow.

“Hmph!”

With a dull thud, Katherine Lincoln completely lost his balance, the force of the blow sending him flying through the air.

A level-four swordsman’s battle aura had some defensive power, but a single strike wasn’t enough to completely take him out.

William Lincoln gathered his strength again, leaped off the ground, both feet leaving the floor, and in a split second delivered four consecutive kicks, each one landing precisely on Katherine Lincoln’s still-sturdy body. The tremendous force sent him flying another seven or eight meters, crashing heavily to the ground.

With a loud “bang!”, the platform seemed to shake as Katherine Lincoln hit the ground.

Katherine Lincoln didn’t even have time to react before the intense pain overwhelmed his senses. His eyes rolled back and he passed out.

The spectators stared in shock at this dramatic scene, their minds momentarily short-circuited...

“Is this really a duel between swordsmen? Why do I feel like I’ve walked into a gladiator arena…” One student tugged at his friend and asked.

“This… should be a swordsman’s duel…”
