Chapter 15

“We’ve received notice that, for some unknown reason, this line is experiencing all sorts of problems. In some places, the tracks are no longer level. Most likely, we’ll have to come to a complete stop.”

There was an uproar among the people, followed by some panic.

The train attendant informed everyone that an emergency inspection was underway ahead, and that the train could only continue once sufficient safety and stability were ensured.

That evening, William Carter called his parents. Abnormal signs were appearing in various places, and he was very worried about them.

In fact, his parents were also concerned that he might encounter all sorts of problems while traveling alone.

Sure enough, once the train stopped, it didn’t move again. Fearing a major safety incident, they refused to start up again until all hidden dangers were eliminated.

Inside the carriage, many people were making calls, some looking anxious. All signs pointed to unrest everywhere, and as travelers, they longed to return to their familiar homes.

The attendants prepared water and food for everyone.

If it weren’t for the delay and the unscheduled stop, at the current train speed, they would have reached the terminal station by nightfall.

At night, people were uneasy and found it hard to sleep, whispering among themselves.

It wasn’t until late into the night that the train gradually quieted down.

Outside, it was pitch black, not even a glimmer of starlight. You couldn’t see your hand in front of your face, making the atmosphere cold and a bit terrifying.

Dong!

Suddenly, in the second half of the night, a violent jolt woke everyone in the carriage. All opened their eyes, looking around in confusion.

What happened? What could make the heavy train tremble like that? Was something hitting it?

Many people’s faces turned slightly pale as they anxiously looked out the window.

But outside, it was pitch black. This was a mountainous area, and on a night without starlight, nothing could be seen. The darkness was suffocating, sending chills through everyone.

The mountains loomed, thick with trees. Occasionally, the sounds of wild beasts and night owls drifted in, making the atmosphere even more unsettling.

Dong!

Another violent jolt shook the carriage, causing some people to scream.

“What’s out there? How much force would it take to move a train?!”

A cacophony of voices erupted.

“Stop shouting!” William Carter barked.

If you panic, things can go very wrong.

“I know this area—it’s an ancient battlefield. Many people died here back in the day!” a middle-aged woman said, her voice trembling.

“Shut up, stop talking nonsense!” Fat Henry shouted, though his own face didn’t look good either, a bit pale.

He often traveled this route and knew what kind of place this was.

“There are no such things as ghosts in this world. Even if there were, it would just be electromagnetic fields, which would dissipate quickly. How could they possibly shake a train?” someone else stood up to say, trying to calm everyone down.

Soon after, everyone discovered that all their communication devices had lost contact with the outside world!

At that moment, a chill ran through their hearts, sending shivers down their spines.

It was destined to be a sleepless night; no one was in the mood to sleep.

Many people were filled with fear, anxiously staring out the pitch-black windows, hoping for dawn to come soon. It felt as if some enormous creature was lurking outside, making it hard to breathe.

Before dawn, the sky was still dark, and a thick fog had risen outside, blanketing the mountains in white.

“What’s going on out there?” Henry Clark asked.

“Let’s go take a look,” William Carter said.

“No, don’t go!” Henry Clark shook his head vigorously.

“I think it should be fine. If something was going to happen, it would have already,” William Carter replied.

In the end, William Carter, Henry Clark, and a few other young people decided to get off the train to see what was going on.

The white fog churned, and you couldn’t see a person just a few meters away. It felt eerie and strange, making people uneasy.

All around was silent; there wasn’t a sound.

“Oh my god, what is that?!” Suddenly, a young man shouted in terror, his eyes wide open, staring fixedly at midair.

His terrified cry made the hair stand on end for those nearby, and filled everyone in the carriage with dread, their scalps tingling.

Chapter 0009: Horror

Although it was close to dawn, the sky was still dark, especially with the rare thick fog covering the mountains and forests. Everything was shrouded in white, and nothing could be seen.

It was already a tense atmosphere, and that young man’s sudden scream at this moment was more than people’s nerves could bear.

“Ah…”

Of the few who had come outside, two were so frightened they stumbled backward, nearly sitting on the ground, and couldn’t help but scream as well, their voices full of fear.

“What are you screaming for? Trying to scare us to death?!” Henry Clark glared angrily. He was badly frightened too, the hair on his neck standing on end.

“What did you see?” William Carter asked. He and Henry Clark were together, a short distance from the others. With the thick fog, you couldn’t see anyone just a few meters away.

“C-c-c… c-c-c…” The young man’s teeth were chattering, his lips trembling in fear as he pointed at midair. His legs wouldn’t obey him; he wanted to back away but was frozen in place.

“There’s a black shadow over there—I saw it!”

“What is it?”

The two who had been frightened earlier now looked up as well, their voices trembling just like his. Then, stumbling, they quickly retreated, shaking all over with fear.

At that moment, the train was no longer quiet. People inside heard the commotion outside, and some women immediately screamed, plunging everything into chaos.
