Chapter 18

Today’s bus driver was clearly acting sleazy, as if he was deliberately cooperating with Ethan Cooper, constantly tapping the brakes and slamming on them. Even though Megan Brooks was already on guard and had turned her pretty face away, her body still couldn’t avoid the occasional passionate collision with Ethan Cooper.

At first, it was from behind, which Ethan Cooper could tolerate, but now they were face to face. What he had originally enjoyed quickly became awkward—some part of him was standing up, and with so many people around, such a change was mortifying. Ethan Cooper blushed as red as Guan Yu, feeling utterly embarrassed—he wasn’t that shameless, after all!

Megan Brooks clearly felt it too. Flustered and panicked, she pretended not to notice in order to avoid dying of embarrassment on the spot. But… this was pure self-deception; she was so shaken by the collisions that her soul nearly left her body.

A little bit of sleaziness is a personality trait, but too much is just shameless. Considering himself charming but not vulgar, Ethan Cooper didn’t want to keep making a fool of himself, so he finally used the “thousand-pound drop”… uh, actually, the “thousand-pound anchor.”

Now, no matter how emotionally the driver braked, Ethan Cooper couldn’t bump into Megan Brooks anymore. But soon, a wry smile appeared on his face—he wasn’t bumping into others, but others were bumping into him! A soft, jade-like body would occasionally crash into him from behind, sometimes seemingly on purpose, with considerable force.

Ethan Cooper turned around in confusion, only to see a young woman looking at him with embarrassment and apology, then glaring angrily at the person behind her.

Looking past the young woman, Ethan Cooper saw a face far more lecherous than his own, along with an extremely obscene gesture. The driver hadn’t even braked, yet this guy kept bumping into people. He bumped into the young woman, the young woman bumped into Ethan Cooper, and Ethan Cooper bumped into… uh, was Megan Brooks really that easy to bump into? If the one taking advantage wasn’t Ethan Cooper, there would have already been a tragic case of lower-body disability.

The young woman was quite attractive, maybe even a bit prettier than Megan Brooks, but Ethan Cooper still found Megan Brooks more pleasing to the eye. After all, they’d spent a day and a night together and had developed some feelings. As the saying goes, “A night as husband and wife brings a hundred days of affection.” Even though they weren’t there yet, at this rate, it was only a matter of time.

Still, seeing the young woman’s pained expression, Ethan Cooper felt a bit uncomfortable. The “hero saves the beauty” trope was too cliché, so Ethan Cooper decided to let her save herself. He quietly handed the young woman the fountain pen he’d playfully clipped to his shirt pocket last night in the study—he’d seen one just like it in the photo of Megan Brooks’s father.

The young woman, passively caught between attacks from front and back, was feeling miserable. Suddenly, something hard poked her thigh. Shocked, embarrassed, and angry, she quickly looked down, only to find the refined, handsome man in front of her quietly passing her a fountain pen. At first, she didn’t understand his intention—this wasn’t the time or place for a token of affection! But then, realization dawned, and she shot him a grateful look.

(Warning: The following actions are extremely dangerous. Children, do not imitate!)

The young woman took the pen, calmly unscrewed the cap, and quietly positioned the pen behind her, the sharp end aimed at the sleazy man behind.

The sleazy man, seeing that the woman in front hadn’t dared make a sound after being groped several times, assumed she was a silent, shy, and introverted type. Emboldened, he became even more brazen. When the driver braked sharply again, he thrust his lower body hard against the woman’s hips.

The result was predictable—a tragedy occurred. The sleazy man let out a piercing, heart-wrenching scream, clutching his bleeding groin as he collapsed.

Chapter Twelve: Next Stop—Hospital

Heaven bear witness, Ethan Cooper had absolutely no intention of causing such a bloody incident, nor did he expect that this seemingly gentle and timid woman would unscrew the pen cap and create such a bloody scene.

Still, that sleazy guy had it coming. If you get a little handsy, fine, but why go so hard? Did you really think this woman was yours? Well, look at you now—trying to catch a fox and ending up covered in blood.

The woman still gripped the pen tightly. Though her face was a bit pale, she looked at the man wailing on the ground with utter indifference.

The most venomous hearts belong to women—how true. Ethan Cooper thought with a chill, but when he turned to look at Megan Brooks, he realized he was wrong, because Megan Brooks wasn’t vicious at all. She was the classic “sharp tongue, soft heart.” By comparison, she was still more appealing.

When Megan Brooks saw Ethan Cooper looking at her, she instinctively shot him another glare: Who asked you to meddle?

Ethan Cooper gave a helpless, bitter smile, looking at her pitifully: I didn’t know it would turn out like this!

While the two of them were exchanging glances, chaos had already broken out on the other side.

“Mr. Reed!” “Boss Reed!” “What happened to you?” “…”

As soon as the sleazy man hit the ground, the whole bus erupted in a cacophony of shocked cries. Ethan Cooper was startled to discover that half the people here were with the sleazy man. No wonder he’d been so brazen—he had strength in numbers and felt invincible!

The woman’s face turned even paler, her grip on the pen tightening until her knuckles turned white.
