Chapter 15

David Harris packed up the things and called out, “Grace, let’s go!” One man and one beast prepared to leave.

Suddenly, a wave rippled through the entire depression, and colorful light shone out from the cracks, instantly enveloping the whole area.

The ground began to spin, and a vortex appeared beneath Grace’s feet, slowly sucking Grace in. Grace howled, looking at David Harris for help. Without hesitation, David Harris reached out to grab Grace’s front leg, trying to pull Grace out. But the vortex gradually expanded, and even David Harris was drawn in.

David Harris urgently summoned his inner strength, trying to leap out, but the vortex seemed to have a tremendous suction force, holding him tightly. In the blink of an eye, he was submerged.

The glowing depression gradually dimmed, and the original granite ground was shattered into soil. With a rumble, rain began to fall from the sky. After the downpour, a lush green meadow grew in the depression, with no trace of David Harris or Grace.

Chapter Five: Another World

A flash of light streaked by, and a dazzling glare suddenly appeared. David Harris quickly closed his eyes.

He circulated his energy to protect himself, extending his senses, and felt that Grace was right beside him. But for some reason, there was nothing solid beneath his feet—he was just floating in the air.

The next moment, with two thuds, David Harris and Grace fell to the ground.

Feeling solid ground under his feet, David Harris opened his eyes. Everything around was shrouded in mist; he couldn’t see anything beyond three feet. But David Harris sensed there were several people nearby.

Suddenly, a voice shouted, “Everyone be careful, the evil magical beast is about to appear!”

David Harris was puzzled. What magical beast? Sensing that Grace was not far away, he quickly called out, “Grace, come here.”

With a whoosh, David Harris heard a gust of wind and reflexively raised his left hand.

“Clang!” An arrow struck the cold iron and fell to the ground, but the force in the arrow still shook David Harris a bit. He thought to himself, “What a good arrow!” Fearing a misunderstanding, he quickly shouted, “Stop!”

The people outside seemed stunned, and Grace also came over and lay down beside David Harris.

A melodious female voice rang out: “Graceful wind, please blow away the mist before us and reveal the true form of the world! Dispel!”

As a gentle breeze passed, the mist surrounding them gradually dispersed, revealing several figures.

Each one was on high alert, weapons drawn and ready. Seeing this, David Harris couldn’t help but become more vigilant.

When both sides could see each other clearly, David Harris was shocked. None of them were ordinary people; all had blond hair and blue eyes, and two of them didn’t even look human. David Harris had never seen such beings before and couldn’t help but shout, “What kind of monsters are you?”

The group was also surprised. They had expected a summoned magical beast in the mist, but instead, it was a person—with black hair and black eyes, something they had never seen before. Could he be a demon?

A sword-wielding man shouted, “Battle formation!” In fact, this was unnecessary; as soon as something happened, his companions had already instinctively formed a battle formation, covering each other.

A green-skinned, long-eared creature, holding a bow, let the string twang, and an arrow shot straight toward David Harris’s face.

David Harris was prepared. With lightning speed, when the arrow was still two inches from his shoulder, his left hand had already miraculously grabbed the shaft, holding it firmly.

As the companion fired the arrow, the sword-wielding warrior charged forward, swinging his sword to strike.

Judging by his appearance, he was strong and powerful, but his moves were full of flaws. David Harris smiled slightly, swung his left hand, and the cold iron block struck the warrior’s stomach hard. The warrior doubled over in pain, and when he looked up, the arrowhead in David Harris’s hand was already pointed at his throat.

David Harris shouted again, “Stop!”

A woman in strange clothing said, “Let go of our companion.” She held a short stick in her hand, which looked odd, decorated with many strange ornaments. It didn’t seem very dangerous, and it was too short to be a staff.

David Harris looked at everyone, then put the arrow aside. The warrior quickly retreated back to his group.

Seeing that he hadn’t hurt anyone, everyone breathed a sigh of relief, though they remained cautious. The hostility on both sides lessened a bit.

The woman in strange clothing asked, “Are you a demon?”

David Harris asked in surprise, “What demon?”

The long-eared creature spoke up, “He’s not a demon. Demons have purple hair and silver eyes—he doesn’t.” The voice was pleasant and melodious.

David Harris was startled. Not only could this creature use a bow, it could also speak! He quickly asked, “What kind of monster are you? How can you talk?”

“I’m not a monster. Strange, where are you from, appearing out of nowhere in the evil mage’s summoning circle, and you don’t even recognize an elf?” The voice was still so pleasant, clearly a woman.

David Harris couldn’t help but take a closer look. This elf had delicate features and a curvy figure, and with such a melodious voice, she was clearly a woman. Only the pointed ears on her head had made David Harris think she was a monster at first.

David Harris asked curiously, “What summoning circle? I don’t know anything about that. You all appeared suddenly—what exactly do you want?”

Everyone frowned at this. What was going on?

Seeing that the hostility around him had completely disappeared, replaced by confusion, and wanting to figure things out himself, David Harris said, “How about this: let’s sit down and talk things through, instead of being so wary of each other.”

He handed the arrow back to the elf and praised, “Your archery is impressive.”
