David Harris already had some understanding after hearing this. He realized that he had been summoned here by this so-called mage. However, according to what they said, this summoning circle was meant to summon magical beasts, so how did he end up here? Looking down, he suddenly saw Grace rubbing against his leg and suddenly understood. This so-called magical beast was actually Grace, the real culprit. With Grace's abilities, it would probably be easy to kill Chuck, and with Grace's speed, the others could be dealt with just as easily. Calling it a magical beast was not an exaggeration.
Temporarily accepting this explanation, he asked, “Even so, can someone tell me what this summoning magic circle is all about? How can it bring a person from some unknown place to here?”
Linda said, “It seems like only Elsa here is proficient in summoning magic. Why don’t you explain?”
Elsa explained, “I’m not that skilled, but simply put, it uses magical power to create a spatial distortion, transferring something from one space to another.”
David Harris was baffled. “Magical power? What’s that? That sounds amazing.”
Everyone understood by now that David Harris was probably from another world and had no knowledge of magic, so they were no longer surprised. Elsa thought for a moment and said, “Ah, I can’t really explain it clearly right now. Let me just show you.”
She raised her magic staff—the stick that David Harris thought was too light and too short—and chanted an incantation: “Raging wind element, heed my command, turn into a sharp blade, strike down the enemy before you—Wind Blade!”
As soon as the incantation was finished, David Harris immediately felt a gust of wind strike straight at his chest, but the force wasn’t very strong. He secretly used his inner energy to protect his whole body, stood still without dodging, and with a “puff” sound, the sharp wind hit David Harris and dissipated.
After taking the hit, he thought to himself, this young girl looks delicate, but her skills are truly impressive. She can actually project energy outside her body to form a blade and injure others—quite remarkable. If he himself could do this, he could stand still and send out a blade of energy to injure someone from a distance. For a moment, he became absorbed in studying the martial arts technique.
Everyone saw him take the wind blade attack in a daze, yet act as if nothing had happened, and they were all startled. Although Elsa looked delicate, she had practiced magic since childhood and was already a junior mage. In the Tianlong Empire, there were very few people her age who could earn the title of mage. Even though it was just a small wind blade, the force within it was enough that even Chuck wouldn’t dare take it head-on and could only dodge. Most of the zombies and monsters in Darkstar Valley had been eliminated by Elsa's magic; Chuck and Linda had only killed a few, and the dwarves were responsible for protecting the mage and hadn’t fought at all. Because Elsa was so powerful, everyone vaguely regarded her as the leader. Seeing this “monster” David Harris stand still and take the wind blade as if nothing had happened, everyone was relieved that they hadn’t gotten into a serious conflict with David Harris.
Seeing that he didn’t speak, everyone didn’t know what he was thinking and just stared at him blankly.
After a long while, David Harris had gained some insight, snapped out of it, and said to Elsa, “Elsa, your skills are pretty good. You can actually send out a blade of energy to injure someone, but the power isn’t enough—it needs to be stronger.”
Elsa couldn’t help but start laughing when she heard him praise her skills, but when she heard the rest, she held back her laughter and asked, “How do I make it stronger?” By now, everyone else couldn’t help but laugh out loud.
David Harris asked in confusion, “What’s so funny?”
Linda managed to stop laughing and said to David Harris, “Elsa is a mage, how could she know martial arts? Hahahaha!”
David Harris asked in puzzlement, “It’s not martial arts? Then how does it have energy?”
Elsa explained, “That was a wind blade created by controlling wind elements with magical power. It has nothing to do with martial arts, but the damage is the same. So, tell me, how do I make it stronger?”
David Harris still didn’t understand what magic was, but he replied anyway, “Your wind blade is too long, so the power isn’t concentrated. If you make it smaller and focus the power into a smaller area, not only will the speed increase, but the damage will also go up.”
After hearing this, Elsa pouted and said, “Who doesn’t know such a simple principle? You’re really exaggerating.” But in her heart, she thought that what he said actually made some sense, and she secretly considered how to modify the wind blade.
Linda was quite interested in David Harris and asked, “What’s your profession?”
David Harris was confused again, so Linda explained, “I mean, what kind of person are you? For example, I’m an archer, Chuck is a warrior, Elsa is a mage, and Snow is a dwarf warrior. What about you?”
David Harris let out an “oh” and replied, “I guess I’m a doctor!”
“A doctor? What’s a doctor?”
“It’s someone who treats illnesses and heals injuries.”
“Oh, are you a holy-type mage? How come you don’t know magic?”
David Harris got a headache again. There are even different types of mages? He said, “I don’t know magic. I use herbs to treat people.”
“Herbs? What are herbs? You can heal people without magic?”
David Harris had never imagined that this world didn’t even have the concept of doctors or herbs, and for a moment, he didn’t know how to explain.
Elsa pressed further, “So what exactly do you do? I see you carry a knife—are you a warrior too?”
