“Run! It’s zombies!!!” Ethan Clark hurriedly pulled up the terrified Grace Bennett, whose face had gone pale with fear, but Grace Bennett was already shaking all over, too weak to even stand.

“To the village, to the village! The road behind us is blocked!!” Knight Turner swung his knight’s lance, smashing it hard onto the head of a zombie that tried to ambush him from the side. The shriveled zombie’s skull instantly shattered, and disgusting, sticky fluid splattered—landing right in front of Grace Bennett, causing her to start vomiting immediately.

“Protect the lady!” The other three retainers reacted quickly enough, and after their initial fear, they immediately surrounded Grace Bennett.

But in that instant, even more zombies leapt out from the darkness, one after another, their rotting bodies blocking off the mountain path and cutting off any retreat!

Zombies are truly the most disgusting creatures imaginable. Seeing those terrifying, hideous faces rushing toward them, the three retainers had no will left to fight—only the desperate urge to escape this hellish place.

The way back was blocked by ten zombies whose faces had completely fallen off. The three retainers could only lead Grace Bennett and Ethan Clark toward the village. As soon as they saw the village, Knight Turner immediately burst open the wooden gate, trying to get everyone inside to hide.

“Don’t go in!!!” Ethan Clark shouted at once, but he was too late. Over a dozen agile zombies jumped out from the side, forcing all six of them into the village. Immediately after, corpses surged out of the pitch-black village houses like a tide, their green eyes shining like a sky full of stars!

“How can there be so many?!” one of the retainers cried out in terror. The ghostly moonlight shone pale over the village, illuminating limping, crawling, and mud-covered figures—all moving, rotting corpses!

White corpse worms writhed on their bodies, and farm tools stained with dried blood clattered as they dragged along the ground. Prolonged howls echoed from decaying windpipes. The horrifying scene was right before their eyes, and everyone’s hair stood on end as the monsters drew near!

“Ding~~~ ding~~~~~ ding ding ding~~~~~” The retainers’ armor trembled with their bodies, making a rattling sound. The faces of the three young retainers had turned ashen, and their hands gripping the knight’s lances were shaking uncontrollably.

Grace Bennett was so frightened she couldn’t even open her eyes, limp in Ethan Clark’s arms like a corpse.

Ethan Clark had no thought of taking advantage of Grace Bennett at this moment. He cupped her face, forcing her eyes open with his hands, and stared into her eyes, saying, “Look at me! Look at me!! Don’t panic! They’re just moving corpses!!”

Tears were squeezed from Grace Bennett’s eyes. Yet, as Ethan Clark roughly pried her eyelids open, her heart, which had been about to leap out of her chest, actually calmed a little.

“Stand up! Get on the horse, quick!!” Ethan Clark helped the nearly fainting woman onto a horse, tying her with the reins to keep her from falling off. Then he said to three of the retainers, “You three take the lady and break out! Knight Turner, you and I will draw these disgusting things away!”

The three retainers looked at Ethan Clark in astonishment, not expecting that the lowest-ranking young master could remain so calm in such a situation.

After Ethan Clark shouted at them again, the three retainers immediately surrounded Grace Bennett.

Ethan Clark was actually just as nervous, his hands trembling. It took him four tries to finally strike a spark and light the torch in his hand.

“Whoosh~~~~” The flames drew an arc, forcing the zombies near Ethan Clark to retreat a few steps. Taking advantage of this opening, Ethan Clark, under the cover of Knight Turner, used the fire to draw the zombies’ attention to himself.

Knight Turner was a powerful sky knight. With a sweep of his lance, he cleared a semicircle, knocking down a swath of zombies and opening a gap for the three young retainers.

“Take the lady and go!” Seeing the zombies forced back, Ethan Clark immediately shouted to the three retainers.

The three retainers reacted quickly, sweeping their lances and smashing several zombies blocking the village entrance into pulp. With a loud shout, they charged out with Grace Bennett.

Seeing the three retainers and Grace Bennett had broken out of the village, Ethan Clark immediately threw away the torch and, with his back to Knight Turner, said, “Quick, pull me up onto the horse!”

Ethan Clark dared to stay behind only because he relied on this powerful sky knight. With this guy’s strength, wiping out these zombies was no problem at all. But staying here to keep fighting zombies was meaningless.

Ethan Clark naturally sought Knight Turner’s protection. However, for quite a while, Knight Turner behind him didn’t respond, and he only felt more zombies closing in on him.

“Sorry, someone wants your life. These zombies have done me a big favor.” At that moment, Knight Turner suddenly revealed a cold smile.

“You! What do you mean?!” Ethan Clark roared in anger, but before he could fully react, he saw that Knight Turner had already ridden off alone, disappearing into the distance right before Ethan Clark’s eyes!!
