Chapter 8

Gradually, the shrieks of zombies piercing the darkness also grew weaker, and the entire village, shrouded in the aura of death, became deathly silent...

...

Three young attendants, escorting Grace Bennett Miss, ran frantically all the way without stopping, rushing into the nearest city to the village, and then hid inside the clergy church.

Grace Bennett had completely lost consciousness. It wasn't until the old night-shift clergyman cast a wakefulness spell on Grace Bennett that she slowly opened her eyes.

After waking up, Grace Bennett found golden light flickering all around, peaceful and serene. She thought she had just had the most terrifying nightmare, but when she saw the three wounded, armor-torn golden knights, Grace Bennett suddenly realized that everything that had just happened was not a dream, but had truly occurred.

"Child... don't be afraid, drink this, and you'll calm down soon." The old clergyman prepared a calming soup for Grace Bennett and then had her drink it.

After drinking it, Grace Bennett was still trembling in fear, but she was able to steady her emotions. At this moment, the belated left knight, covered in blood, rushed into the clergy church, shouting for a healing priest.

The old clergyman used a low-level spell to roughly treat the left knight's wounds and dispelled the poison from the zombie's claws. Only then did the left knight catch his breath and collapse to the ground. Yet, in this exhaustion, a triumphant smile appeared on his face.

"Ethan Clark? Where is he?" Only then did Grace Bennett remember that Ethan Clark was not with the group. She recalled that he had drawn away the zombies and then ordered the three golden knights to take her and break out of the zombie village.

"I'm sorry, Miss. When I tried to save Young Master Ethan Clark, he had already been dragged into the wooden hut by the zombies..." The left knight's gaze drifted.

"Then he..." Grace Bennett's face lost all color. Perhaps because of the long night of fleeing, she truly couldn't hold on any longer. Her vision went black and she fainted on the spot...

In the dark underground wine cellar, only Ethan Clark's corpse remained. It was already utterly silent here. Occasionally, a few zombies would pass overhead, kicking down some dust that fell onto Ethan Clark's face.

"Creak—" The old wooden boards let out a discordant sound, followed by several more in succession. In this supposedly silent basement, noise suddenly erupted.

Yet, there were clearly no living creatures in the underground wine cellar. Even the rats and cockroaches had long been eaten clean by the zombies...

"Creak—creak—"

The sound echoed through the empty basement...

Suddenly! After an even louder "creak," the previously motionless Ethan Clark moved. His whole body convulsed violently, as if someone was forcefully shaking him, twisting in a most unnatural way!

"Huff—" The corpse, already dead, moved!

He propped up his waist, struggled to crawl up, his head drooping, his back hunched!

A corpse no different from the zombies outside, a zombie that could move on its own!

"Damn Grace Bennett, I told you to leave and you really left, not even thinking about me. Even more damnable is that bastard left knight!" After standing up, Ethan Clark started cursing, but all these words were only in his mind.

The actual sound Ethan Clark made was a string of drawn-out howls: "Uhhhhh—uhhhh—uhhhhhhhhh—"

"After searching so long for a corpse, now I finally have one, but it's me..." Ethan Clark gave a bitter smile as he looked at his own pale, bloodless claws. But as a dark creature, he couldn't really smile bitterly; his dry lips just twitched a little, and his body had become extremely stiff after death.

Corpse resurrection is not some advanced revival spell. To put it bluntly, a resurrected corpse is just a puppet that obeys orders. The difference is that Ethan Clark still had his mind and could control himself.

Killing himself and reviving as a corpse, Ethan Clark was no longer a normal human. His constitution had completely changed due to the sorcerous resurrection, becoming a dark creature with consciousness, sorcery, and the bloodline of the Kingdom of Zhan.

In fact, Ethan Clark was extremely hungry now. If that beautiful and noble Miss Grace Bennett were swaying in front of him at this moment, Ethan Clark would definitely bite into her crystal-clear body, devouring her alive to ease the cramping pain in his stomach caused by hunger.

Ethan Clark's skin was now pale, and his once brilliant, jet-black eyes were now covered with a green, vicious gleam of hatred toward living beings. Even his nails had grown long and hard, as sharp as a warrior's blade, easily able to slice through tree bark or human flesh.

Chapter 006: Little Demon

"Uhh!!! Uhhhhh!!! Uhhhhh!!!" The cold moonlight shone down on what should have been a peaceful village, but the zombies, slowed by not having gotten any flesh, let out one strangled cry after another, wandering ceaselessly around the village, trying to find any humans who might pass by, making the village even more eerie and terrifying.
