Chapter 3

“My chance of returning to life by borrowing this corpse is over ninety percent. Judging by the injuries on this person, there’s an eighty to ninety percent chance he died in that so-called Nightblood Forest! Many of these wounds are from… beasts? These marks must be from beasts! But… what kind of place is the Nightblood Forest, and what kind of beast is the Bloodhowl Eagle? And then there’s this so-called Dragon Knight, Adam Reed—why have I never heard of any of these! Dragon Knight!? A swordsman who fights riding a dragon!? It must just be a professional title—‘dragon among men’ refers to a Dragon Knight, describing those top-tier elite warriors!”

Evan Grant pondered silently in his heart!

“This body… is actually quite good. It must have undergone some basic training for years; the muscle and bone density are far above that of ordinary people. If not for the injuries, I could probably sense the flexibility of the meridians as well. And… hmm? True Qi!”

As he spoke, a faint, barely perceptible stream of energy began to flow through his meridians under his control!

True Qi—a mark of identity for ancient martial artists!

Although the True Qi in his body at this moment was so weak it could almost be ignored, it was indeed True Qi. With even this trace of True Qi, every circulation would strengthen the body from the inside out. Over time, this body would only grow stronger, and the True Qi within would become even more robust.

“I didn’t expect this person to have True Qi in his body… Dragon Knight? True Qi? The person I’ve possessed is a disciple of some secret sect hidden deep in the mountains, away from the world!? Is this the sect’s mountain gate?”

Glancing around, Evan Grant immediately dismissed this guess!

Never mind the modern decor filling this room—just from the words of that young girl earlier, it’s clear there’s a school nearby!

Where there’s a school, there’s a complete education system. A place like this couldn’t possibly go unnoticed by the government. Unless they’re a nation within a nation, the government would never allow such a powerful ancient martial sect to exist unchecked!

After thinking for a moment, his gaze fell on three books on a small bedside table. He reached out and picked them up.

The three books were: “Combat Techniques and Moral Cultivation for Intermediate Warriors,” “Epic Road of the City of Radiance,” and a handbook-like “Starlight Academy Chronicle, Issue 43”!

Among them, “Epic Road of the City of Radiance” was a biographical novel, roughly recording the development of a force called the City of Radiance. Evan Grant glanced at the cover and set it aside, picking up “Combat Techniques and Moral Cultivation for Intermediate Warriors” and began to flip through it!

After a while, his expression grew serious, and he began flipping through the pages faster and faster.

A dozen minutes later, he suddenly closed the book, his brows furrowed in even deeper thought!

“The combat techniques recorded here are all very practical, and the Qi cultivation method appended at the end actually makes some sense… The government has always deeply hated ancient martial artists and swordsmen—so why are these combat techniques and cultivation methods now being published in books? ‘Chivalry uses martial arts to break the law’…”

As he pondered, something seemed to occur to him. He suddenly reopened the book and looked directly at the publication date!

New Era, Year 417, June 12th!

“New Era 417? Not AD 2014?” With doubt, Evan Grant turned his attention to the “Starlight Academy Chronicle, Issue 43” and began to read!

This little handbook was published on March 1st, New Era 419. After flipping through it for a while, several pieces of information quickly caught his attention!

“March 7th, New Era 419: Academy prodigy Matthew Bolton completed the third stage of warrior cultivation, officially advancing to a fourth-tier warrior, and successfully broke through to the first level of the Moon God Realm!”

“April 2nd, New Era 419: Starlight Academy intermediate instructor Jack Thompson led a team of seventeen students on an outdoor training mission. They were attacked by a sixth-tier magical beast, the Roaring Bear, and all seventeen students perished! Vice Principal Ryan Clark personally took the stage to deliver a eulogy for the fallen students!”

“April 16th, New Era 419: Sixty li north of Starlight City, a spatial fluctuation appeared, and a seventh-tier magical beast, the King Lion, was sighted. Three top instructors from our Starlight Academy led six elite students, and together with Deputy City Lord Mr. Miller, slew the beast. Their outstanding performance was rewarded with a One-Star Honor Medal!”

“April 29th, New Era 419: Senior alumnus David Brooks, who graduated from Starlight Academy, returned after achieving the Innate Secret Realm, becoming one of the guardian elders of Starlight City. The entire city celebrated!”

Reading these records in the “Starlight Academy Chronicle, Issue 43,” the calm in Evan Grant’s heart was once again stirred up!

“A sixth-tier magical beast, the Roaring Bear!? A seventh-tier magical beast, the King Lion!? All seventeen students perished? Starlight Academy? Starlight City? Innate Secret Realm!? And… Moon God Realm?” Looking at these terms he had never heard before, Evan Grant’s eyes grew clear!

At this moment, he suddenly understood that the place he was in now, perhaps…

Was no longer the world he once knew!
