Chapter 12

Rachel Derek's pretty face froze for a moment, and in her mind she instantly recalled the brief exchange she just had with Evan Grant!

Just now, she had hurried to stop Evan Grant from entering her room, and in her rush, she hadn’t held back at all. Her speed was extremely fast, and since she struck from behind Evan Grant, she appeared in front of him in an instant. The attack was so sudden that even a martial artist of the same level would have had absolutely no way to dodge it...

What’s more, Evan Grant had just been discharged from the hospital, seriously injured, and even basic movements were already a struggle for him.

  But the result...

It seemed that just as her palm strike was about to land on him, it was diverted by some strange force, missing its target entirely, never actually making contact with him...

  “What’s going on...”

  “What’s wrong, Xiaoxue?”

Rachel Derek pondered for a moment, voiced her doubts, and asked in confusion, “Is it that my mastery of the Pushing Cloud Palm isn’t good enough, or did he just get lucky and manage to dodge it?”

Grace Harris didn’t even think before making her conclusion: “He definitely just got lucky! Once you spotted him, of course he’d run as fast as he could and hide in his own room! Just as he was trying to escape, your palm strike landed, but hit nothing! You’re the genius of our class—if it weren’t for the fact that you haven’t been able to break through the first level of the Moon God Realm all these years, you’d already be among the elite of the academy. Dealing with a guy like him, who’s barely managed to reach the third rank, should be a piece of cake for you!”

Rachel Derek nodded thoughtfully. “Especially since he’s still badly injured!”

“Exactly! Alright, don’t worry about him. I’m going to check out the Moon God Realm and see if there’s any news from Lord ‘Ning Fangyuan’!” As Grace Harris spoke, she lightly ran back to her own room and entered the Moon God Realm using her receiver.

Rachel Derek watched Grace Harris leave, lost in thought, not sure what she was thinking. After a moment, her gaze fell once again on the room where Evan Grant was.

After hesitating for a moment, she still walked over and gently knocked on the door!

  “Come in!”

The voice quickly came from inside.

  “Come?”

Rachel Derek frowned. If it were the old Derek, he would never have politely used the word “please” with her!

“Could it be that he’s really determined to change after all that’s happened?”

Rachel Derek felt a bit of joy in her heart!

But this joy lasted less than a moment before she dismissed it.

“Hmph, there’s definitely something wrong. I want to see just how long you can keep up this fake act!”

With that thought, she pushed open the door and walked into the room, which seemed to have been tidied up a bit!

  “Do you need something?”

Rachel Derek’s lively eyes stared at Evan Grant for a moment, as if trying to read something from his face. But from beginning to end, all she saw in Evan Grant’s eyes was calmness, and a bit of normal confusion!

  “What is it?”

“Nothing!” Rachel Derek shook her head, the two strands of hair by her ears gently swaying down.

  “Oh!”

Evan Grant responded, continuing to flip through the book in his hands, as if searching for something!

“Just now I hit you with a palm strike, you...”

“Oh! I’m fine!” Evan Grant replied without even looking up. After a moment, as if realizing this was impolite, he looked up at her and said, “Thank you for your concern!”

  “Thank you? You...”

Rachel Derek was confused. She could see the sincerity in Evan Grant’s eyes... but... this was completely out of character!

This Derek, actually thanking her again and again? Did the doctors at the hospital give him the wrong medication?

After a while, Rachel Derek snapped out of it, wanting to find a topic to talk about, to figure out what he was really thinking. But on second thought, she and this brother Derek never really had anything to talk about—in the past, didn’t every meeting start with an argument?

At this moment, her gaze suddenly fell on the book Evan Grant was reading, and she asked curiously, “History? Are you reviewing history?”

  Evan Grant nodded. “Yes!”

Watching Evan Grant lower his head and continue reading, Rachel Derek hesitated for a moment, then suddenly seemed to make up her mind and said, “Is it to prepare for the exam in a month? I’ve already gotten full credits for history. Since you want to review, I... I’ll help you!”

  “You’ll help me?”

Evan Grant looked up in surprise at this sister who was supposed to be completely at odds with him!

  “Yes!”

Rachel Derek nodded, then after a moment, her tone turned a bit cold: “I’m only taking the time to help you review so you can pass the exam in a month! If I find you getting distracted or not paying attention during our review, I’ll immediately stop wasting my time! And in the future, don’t even think about asking me to tutor you again!”

  “Oh!”

Evan Grant responded, lowered his head again, and continued reading his history book, completely leaving Rachel Derek to the side!

His attitude immediately made Rachel Derek, who had just started to feel a bit better about him, dissatisfied: “Hey, are you even listening to me? I went out of my way to...”
