"Yeah, why bother coming back alive? Derek, I think if you died in the Nightblood Forest, maybe Miss Cooper would be so moved that she'd die for love because of you!"
Based on the conversations Evan Grant had with Rachel Derek and Grace Harris these past few days, he already knew that Derek was not well-liked, whether at home or in class. No one would be happy to be friends with someone who always puts themselves first—especially when that person isn't even particularly capable!
Glancing at the noisy boys present, Evan Grant didn't want to get entangled with them. He simply found his seat and sat down.
His reaction actually surprised some of the students. Some even discussed, "What's up with Derek today? Normally, he wouldn't be able to resist making a scene!"
"Yeah, something's different! Did he actually have an epiphany after going to the Nightblood Forest?"
"Maybe. There's great fear between life and death. It's reasonable that he'd change a bit after such an experience!"
"That's a shame, though. The class will be missing its clown!"
"Come on, we're all classmates. Derek's family, after all, produced a high-level warrior who earned the Three-Star Honor Badge and contributed a lot to Xingyao City. No need to go overboard! Everyone, just focus on what you should be doing. The chance to enter Xingyao Academy doesn't come easy—make the most of every second to learn knowledge, battle experience, and combat skills!"
"The vice class monitor is right!"
"It's just a pity! Actually, Derek's circumstances aren't bad. Born into a family with a Three-Star Honor Badge, with a house in Xingyao City... If he hadn't set his sights on Hannah Cooper, he could probably find a pretty good girl!"
"Yeah, Hannah Cooper is a prodigy who reached Warrior Level Four at sixteen. I heard she's preparing to break through to the first level of the Moon God Realm. If she succeeds and gets a One-Star Permission at sixteen, wouldn't she soar to the heavens? People like us, who don't even know when we'll reach Warrior Level Four, can only look up to her!"
"I wonder when we'll be able to challenge the first level of the Moon God Realm and get a One-Star Permission!"
"Sigh, don't think about it so much. Just study hard and try to master all the essentials of Warrior Level Three as soon as possible, then break through to Level Four! Once you reach Warrior Level Four, then you can think about challenging the Moon God Realm!"
After all, they were just seventeen or eighteen-year-old youths who hadn't truly entered society yet. Their hearts weren't too bad. After some discussion, their topic gradually shifted to the Moon God Realm.
After all, the permissions of the Moon God Realm were the foundation for survival and security in this world, determining all kinds of future benefits they might receive!
It wasn't long before the instructor for Class 3-22B arrived.
The classrooms at Xingyao Academy weren't like those in schools of the Common Era, with a podium at the front and students listening below. Here, the classrooms were very spacious, with a padded platform in the center. The teacher would stand on it to instruct students in basic martial arts techniques, occasionally calling a student up to practice. The setup was somewhat like a martial arts hall!
Evan Grant watched quietly from the side, and, comparing with his textbooks, gradually gained a systematic understanding of this world's martial arts system. In his mind, some of his own cultivation methods began to merge with the martial skills of this world, comparing strengths and weaknesses, and selecting what suited him best!
The morning passed just like that.
At noon, they ate in the academy cafeteria!
When Evan Grant left the classroom, planning to head to the cafeteria, he found that Rachel Derek was already waiting for him outside.
Seeing Evan Grant come out of the classroom, she hurried over and said, "So, you didn't get into any conflicts with your classmates, right?"
Because Evan Grant had been acting so "well-behaved" these past few days, she had almost forgotten about her brother's bad relationship with his classmates at the academy. It wasn't until she heard people talking about Hannah Cooper that she suddenly remembered!
She figured that Evan Grant would be teased because of Hannah Cooper and would lose his temper and break academy rules again. So, during the whole morning's classes, she was on pins and needles, barely listening at all. The moment the instructor dismissed class, she rushed to the 3-22B classroom as fast as she could, hoping to salvage something!
And so, this scene unfolded.
"Are you okay?"
Evan Grant shook his head.
"Really?"
"Really!"
Rachel Derek looked him over carefully. Seeing that his clothes were neat and his expression calm, with no sign of having argued or tussled with anyone, she finally nodded slightly. "That's good! Alright, let's go to the academy cafeteria together!"
Evan Grant nodded and followed her toward the cafeteria.
The cafeteria wasn't far from the teaching building. In no time, the two of them had gotten their food and started eating.
It was only then that Evan Grant realized that Grace Harris's praise of Rachel Derek hadn't been exaggerated. The girl's cooking skills were truly exceptional. After getting used to her meals, the cafeteria food was almost hard to swallow.
But...
