Chapter 7

Such an exceptional advantage—if it cannot be fully utilized and put into play, then it would surely incur the wrath of the heavens.

He had no idea how long he had been running when William Carter suddenly came to a halt.

He had already covered a considerable distance. Although he could still sense the presence of his own body, he dared not go any deeper.

Because at that very moment, he faintly felt a sense of crisis.

It was as if something was lurking in the eerie darkness, staring at him with terrifying eyes.

This feeling came out of nowhere, yet it was so intense and real.

William Carter crouched down, assuming a defensive posture. After scanning his surroundings, the body with the blurred face suddenly fixed its gaze in one direction.

His fists clenched tightly, feet planted firmly in a figure-eight stance, and a trace of powerful intent radiated from his body.

Chapter Four: Condensing True Qi

In the natural world, animals undoubtedly possess the keenest senses.

Whenever a crisis is about to occur, they always react in advance. Especially when they are being watched by a natural enemy from afar, they often enter a state of alert in an instant.

At this moment, the strange body controlled by William Carter was in no way inferior to the most timid and cautious animal in terms of sensing danger.

Although there was no warning sign, he could just feel it. Hidden among the dense tall trees and thick grass was an extremely terrifying creature, whose strength was at least far greater than his own.

Perhaps it was because it saw the defensive stance William Carter had assumed that the creature hiding in the grass realized it had lost the chance to launch a sneak attack. So, it flicked its tail and swaggered out into the open.

Although the body controlled by William Carter had indistinct facial features, it still had a nose and eyes, so he could clearly see the appearance of the massive beast before him.

It was a gigantic and ferocious wild beast. Its fur was light yellow, and its huge body was covered with black horizontal stripes that extended all the way to its chest and belly. The beast’s skull was rounded, with a ring of longer cheek fur surrounding its face, and its ears on top of its head were short and semicircular. Its limbs were strong and powerful, its tail thick and long with black rings, and at the tip of the tail was a patch of terrifying black.

“A tiger...”

William Carter instantly tensed up. If his real body were here, he would probably be drenched in sweat by now.

He never expected that on his very first trip into the mountains, he would encounter such a terrifying creature.

The tiger’s roar echoes through the mountains and forests. Among the many overlord beasts in the dense woods behind the mountain, the tiger is definitely one of the top predators.

This was a fierce tiger that reigned supreme in the mountains and forests.

Under his father’s strict supervision, William Carter had never slacked off in his martial arts training. As a result, his fundamentals were extremely solid. However, in the face of this mountain overlord, all those years of hard work seemed utterly useless.

His heart pounded like thunder, his hands and feet went cold, and he felt a wave of weakness sweep over his entire body.

“The so-called ‘narrow escape from death’ means putting yourself in a situation where death is certain. If you can’t break through, then death is inevitable.”

His father’s words echoed faintly in his ears, and only at this moment did William Carter truly understand their meaning.

The difference between life-and-death situations and ordinary martial arts practice is like night and day.

Facing a deadly tiger, he simply could not display the results of his usual hard training, let alone perform beyond his limits or tap into hidden potential.

What a formidable overlord of the mountains! It immediately sensed the fear in the unknown creature before it.

“Roar...”

The tiger roared in fury, shaking the heavens and the earth.

This massive beast, weighing at least three hundred kilograms, charged forward with a nauseating, bloody stench.

“Ah.”

William Carter’s eyes suddenly widened. At the very moment the tiger pounced, he finally broke free from his fear. Though his limbs still felt weak, he bravely rushed forward.

At this point, he had completely forgotten that this body was not his own. In his eyes, in his heart, there was only this fierce and unmatched giant tiger.

His fist slammed hard into the tiger’s body, but even with all his strength behind it, he could not stop the tiger’s forward momentum.

The giant tiger’s paw also struck the body James Carter was in, and the tremendous force instantly sent him flying.

“Bang.”

William Carter crashed heavily into a large tree. The violent impact made him feel dizzy and faint, as if he might lose consciousness at any moment.

He felt excruciating pain all over, as if every bone in his body had been shattered by the collision.

A piercing roar echoed in his ears. It seemed that the tiger had been enraged by his punch and was pouncing again.

William Carter forced his eyes open, and what he saw was the ferocious, terrifying face of the king of beasts. The stench assaulted his nose, making him feel as if he were submerged in a pool of blood.

Death was so close.
