Chapter 19

James Carter let out a hearty laugh and said, “It’s alright, just give it your best shot. Even if you fail, it doesn’t matter.”

William Carter gritted his teeth and said, “Yes, I’ll do my best.”

He calmed his mind, focusing all his attention on the orb at the center of his brow.

This time, it was also a tremendous challenge for him.

Slowly, a trace of mysterious power separated from the orb. In terms of sheer quantity, this power was just a bit more than the wisp of spiritual energy released by James Carter.

However, this was already the smallest amount of energy William Carter could control.

Gradually, he guided this wisp of power out of his body, bringing it to the tip of his finger.

When William Carter also raised a finger, the eyes of both James Carter and the other person immediately widened, staring intently without blinking.

Then, they sensed it.

At the tip of his finger, a faint and solitary power appeared.

The two exchanged a glance and nodded at each other. For such a young boy to be able to control energy with such finesse was already quite remarkable.

Yet, their astonishment was only just beginning.

At the very moment this wisp of power appeared, the vast spiritual energy of heaven and earth in the surrounding space surged toward it as if it had taken Viagra, rushing in madly.

In just an instant, a “pop” sounded at William Carter’s fingertip.

Immediately after, a ball of light the size of a basketball appeared at his fingertip.

The three of them stared, dumbfounded, at the ball of light. Even the experienced James Carter, as well as the instigator James Carter, were momentarily stunned.

Suddenly, James Carter’s eyelids twitched, and he shouted sharply, “Throw it away, quick, throw it away…”

With his cultivation and strength, he naturally wasn’t afraid of the ball of light.

But if William Carter lost control and the ball exploded, causing injury, he would regret it deeply.

Startled, William Carter instinctively flung the ball of light from his hand.

The basketball-sized ball of light instantly turned into a streak of light, shooting toward Grant Carter like lightning.

Grant Carter’s expression changed dramatically. With a low shout, a halo of light flared up around him, as if he were enveloped by a giant shield.

“Pop…”

The basketball-sized ball of light struck the shield, immediately exploding into a shower of starlight. However, the shield around Grant Carter also became unstable, rippling with wave-like patterns.

After a few moments, the ripples gradually subsided.

Grant Carter’s expression flickered, and he looked at William Carter with lingering fear. His lips trembled a few times, but he couldn’t utter a single word.

William Carter, on the other hand, was flustered and hurriedly explained, “Uncle Yao, I didn’t mean to, I really didn’t mean to…”

Chapter 10: Spirit Gathering Technique

Grant Carter’s throat bobbed a few times as he thought to himself, If you can cause this much destruction without meaning to, what would happen if you did it on purpose?

James Carter gave a hearty laugh and said, “Yiyao, my dear nephew, how do you feel?”

No matter how aggrieved Grant Carter was, he couldn’t voice it in front of this elder.

He gave a wry smile and said, “Uncle, William truly has extraordinary talent. Just a wisp of his spiritual energy was able to gather so much of the world’s spiritual power—it’s unbelievable.”

James Carter nodded repeatedly and said, “Indeed, to have such a strong attraction to the world’s spiritual energy at the level of a spiritual apprentice, even I am seeing this for the first time.” His eyes shone as he said, “If I’m not mistaken, William is a natural-born Spirit Gatherer.”

“Spirit Gatherer… That’s right, William definitely has the talent of a Spirit Gatherer!” Grant Carter was stunned at first, then exclaimed with joy.

William Carter looked at them in confusion, secretly wondering what exactly a Spirit Gatherer was.

James Carter pondered for a moment and said, “William, are you curious about what we’re talking about?”

William Carter smiled awkwardly and said, “Elder, I really don’t understand.”

James Carter burst out laughing and said, “In this world, there are countless cultivators, but the paths available are not limited to martial arts alone.” Stroking his long beard, he beckoned with his hand, and immediately, a finely crafted teapot placed beside the bamboo chair flew over and landed steadily in his hand.

William Carter’s eyes lit up at once. This technique of moving objects through the air filled him with envy.

James Carter smiled with satisfaction and said, “What I just used was not true qi, but spiritual energy.”

“Spiritual energy? What’s that?” William Carter asked curiously.

“Spiritual energy is also a type of power on the path of cultivation. Heh, it’s an even rarer power than true qi,” James Carter said proudly. “Only those who possess spiritual energy are the true powerhouses in this world.”

Grant Carter echoed with a smile, “Uncle is right. For us spirit practitioners, spiritual energy is divided into two types: one is our own spiritual energy, and the other is the omnipresent spiritual energy of heaven and earth.”

William Carter was thoughtful and said, “I see, so cultivating spiritual energy means transforming the spiritual energy of heaven and earth into one’s own spiritual energy.”
