Chapter 5

However, before Jack Spencer could even breathe a sigh of relief, with a crash, the not-yet-fully-sealed glass suddenly exploded and was sucked outward, instantly exposing Jack Spencer to outer space!

At that critical moment, Jack Spencer clung tightly to the nearby chair, practically wedging his entire body into it. Only then did he avoid being pulled out by the suction.

At this moment, Jack Spencer began to feel suffocated, his saliva started to boil, his lungs expanded, his skin broke out in a rapid sweat, and a strong burning sensation spread across his body.

“Hurry up!” Jack Spencer shouted at the robot with the last bit of his strength.

As the screen flickered rapidly a few times, the fiber optic cable quickly retracted, and the robot lifted its foot and kicked the screen hard several times. “Damn it! Are you giving me the data or not? Are you giving me the data or not?!”

After smashing the screen, it used the fiber optic cable to search among the components for a while. When it found a fingernail-sized chip, it immediately inserted it into the slot on its forearm. After the screen on its face flashed rapidly, a huge exclamation mark appeared.

“Found the map! Head to area E4.”

Just then, the arched wall above finally closed, and that intense discomfort finally disappeared.

Jack Spencer, weak all over and pale as a sheet, floated in midair and gave him a thumbs up. “Awesome!”

Jack Spencer was extremely grateful that he had activated such a robot; at last, he had found a way out of a dead end.

The robot walked over and helped him upright. “It’s just one atmosphere, and look how exhausted you are. Bodies made of flesh are just inferior.”

With the robot’s support, Jack Spencer arrived at the so-called E4 pod, which looked like a cultivation chamber.

All kinds of black, withered traces covered the floor and ceiling—these were plants, but since no one had tended them, they had completely dried up and decayed.

“What are we doing here? Is it safe enough?” Jack Spencer asked.

The robot didn’t answer. Instead, its right index finger shot out a jet of bright blue flame, cutting into the wall on the left. As the wall was sliced open, a blue gel, resembling jelly, slid out from inside.

Chapter 4 Earth

“This gel contains the oxygen and water needed by the human body, and also provides enough cushioning. This is the plan I’ve calculated with the highest success rate.”

After all this time struggling, there was finally a glimmer of hope for survival. Jack Spencer didn’t care about anything else and dove right in.

When he turned around to let the robot in, he saw it heading out. “Where are you going? Are you trying to get yourself killed?”

“Stay inside. I’m going to make sure the shock-absorbing equipment here is working.” With that, the robot walked out.

Just as Jack Spencer was about to say something, the entire room suddenly tilted, and all sorts of dirt and debris came crashing down on him.

Helpless, he could only curl his whole body into the gel.

His body was weightless, surrounded by sticky, slippery jelly. Even though he was buried, when the gel filled his lungs, he could still breathe. The sensation was extremely strange.

But when the violent shaking began, Jack Spencer couldn’t care about the feeling anymore. He hugged himself tightly, curling into a ball.

At this moment, Jack Spencer felt like he was on a roller coaster without a seatbelt, swaying left and right. Fortunately, the gel protected him, so his body wasn’t broken by the impacts.

He had no idea how much time had passed. When the final, extremely violent jolt hit, everything fell silent.

Sensing that it was quiet outside, Jack Spencer used his hands and feet to swim toward the outside of the gel.

But just as he reached the edge, something blocked his way, preventing Jack Spencer from getting out.

Anxious, he turned around and kicked hard. After a dozen kicks, a beam of light pierced the darkness of the gel.

Jack Spencer swam toward the light, and the moment he emerged from the gel, moist air rushed into his lungs, and cold rain poured down from the sky, washing over his body. At this moment, Jack Spencer felt reborn.

A huge hole had been torn in the wall of the cultivation pod. Jack Spencer stared blankly at the raindrops falling from the sky, then suddenly burst out laughing. He was back—he had finally made it back to Earth alive!

Having narrowly escaped death, Jack Spencer was overwhelmed with excitement.

Some things can only be truly appreciated after losing them. Feeling the pull of gravity on the earth again, Jack Spencer alternated between throwing his head back and howling and gently kissing the ground.

After a long while, he finally managed to calm himself down.

Although the greatest crisis had been resolved, Jack Spencer knew he was still not out of danger.

He looked around and found that the entire pod had split open, debris was everywhere, and it was almost unrecognizable.

The robot had been right—even so, the space station hadn’t disintegrated in midair, but it wasn’t in good shape either; it had merely avoided total destruction.

The entire space station lay collapsed on the ground, turned into a city of metallic ruins. If he hadn’t curled up in the jelly, he would have been dead for sure.

“Wait, where’s that robot? Is it still alive?” At this thought, he immediately grew anxious.
