Chapter 12

I was dumbfounded, staring blankly at this sharp claw—a small arm extending from beneath my ribs, covered in silver scales, curved in an arc, stretching out five red claw bones, powerful and imposing, with cold, gleaming claw tips.

Suddenly, the image of Diana Carter’s skeleton flashed through my mind—those seven fierce, agile claws. It was only at this moment that I fully believed I was the reincarnation of Diana Carter.

Looking at this claw, I felt a blood connection with it. But having an extra claw just felt odd and out of place, affecting my image as William Carter. I thought, if only I could retract it. But the claw didn’t respond at all. I recalled the heat at the center of my brow just now, and a thought struck me. The seven claws of Diana Carter’s skeleton tightly gripped the agate pillar, and the agate pillar had flown into my brow. Could it be that the agate pillar is the key to controlling the claw?

I immediately focused my mind on my brow, then began to think: “Claw, please retract.”

The claw silently withdrew into my body!

I touched my smooth left rib, both surprised and delighted. If the claw could retract, it should be able to extend again. I focused my mind on my brow once more, and as soon as the thought arose, there was a slight itch beneath my ribs, a ripple like water, and the claw shot out like lightning, grabbing a reef and shattering it to pieces.

Ha! This is really fun! I tried it several more times, and it worked every time. After turning into a monster, I really am different! Hoisting the big fish that had sunk to the bottom of the lake, I swaggered up to the surface, swam ashore, and with a “bang,” threw the big fish in front of Mary Clark.

“How about it? Even such a fierce monster fish was taken care of by me! My demon power isn’t bad, right?” I stepped on the fish’s tail with one foot, put my right hand on my hip, and struck a mighty pose.

Mary Clark looked at me without saying a word, while Charlotte Harris burst out laughing wildly, “You call a spinefish fierce? Diana Carter, you really are funny. Don’t tell me it took you a lot of effort to kill it. Even the weakest people in the Northern Territory can easily kill a spinefish.”

Damn it, so the monster fish is actually that weak. My face flushed, but I forced myself to brag, “This kind of thing is a piece of cake. But beauty, you actually understood my sarcastic joke—brains to match your looks! Ladies, let’s eat fish together, my treat!”

Mary Clark shot me a cold glance and didn’t move, while Olivia Harris simply floated up and landed back on the snow lotus in the lake. In Luoyang, I’d long gotten used to people rolling their eyes at me, so I didn’t care. Since they look down on me, I won’t take them seriously either.

I cleaned the spinefish, scraped off the scales, removed the innards, then found a pile of dry branches in the woods, started a fire by drilling wood, and began roasting.

Charlotte Harris watched me with great interest. “Diana Carter, since when did you eat so elegantly? Didn’t you always eat things raw?”

I turned the spinefish, my eyes sneaking a glance at her ample chest. “I’m the reincarnated William Carter! Not the former Diana Carter. By the way, what did Diana Carter look like? Don’t tell me exactly like me.”

“Of course not. Diana Carter had two horns on the head, a fierce face, a tall and burly body covered in scales. When the eyes glared, they looked like two burning flames.”

“That’s great! This way, cultivators and demons won’t recognize me.”

“That’s not necessarily true. Your dragon saliva has a unique fragrance. Those with deep cultivation, whether human or demon, will know it’s a rare treasure as soon as they smell it. Even if they don’t know you’re the reincarnation of Diana Carter, they’ll still try to catch you. Otherwise, why would Diana Carter go to such lengths to have us protect you?”

I asked in confusion, “What’s dragon saliva?”

Charlotte Harris stuck out her fragrant tongue and slowly licked her full, sexy lips. “Dragon saliva is your spit. Not only does it nourish and replenish energy, it can also be used as medicine to make precious Dao pills.”

I was dumbfounded. So even my spit is that amazing? Then what about my pee and poop—would people fight over those too?

“Sizzle…” The spinefish was roasted to a golden shine, oil seeping from the flesh and dripping onto the fire, sending a delicious aroma wafting through the air. I swallowed and started devouring it.

Damn! This is insanely delicious—I almost swallowed my own tongue. The most amazing thing was the hundred or so sharp spines; with a gentle bite, they melted into a mouthful of sweet, fresh broth. In the blink of an eye, the mountain-sized spinefish was all in my belly. Yet I still wasn’t quite satisfied—after turning into a monster, even my appetite had grown.

Night had fallen, the firelight danced in the darkness, making the distant jungle look even more mysterious. Under the faint starlight, the lake shimmered, and Olivia Harris, dressed in white, looked as pure as snow, as if she was sleeping embraced by the starlight. Mary Clark stood motionless on the shore, her golden hair still dazzling in the darkness. I asked in confusion, “Doesn’t she get tired standing there all the time?”

Charlotte Harris laughed loudly, “You fool, Mary Clark cultivates the Meridian Armor Technique, using the sky as the meridian and the earth as the pulse. When she stands, her feet absorb the earth’s energy for her own use. This is Mary Clark’s unique cultivation method.”

I half-understood, half-didn’t, but Charlotte Harris’s ample bosom was truly impressive. Chatting idly with her while feasting my eyes was a pretty good way to digest after a meal.
