“But if she runs into me, she won’t get any advantage.” Seeing my expression, Charlotte Harris said with a hint of jealousy.
“I believe you, beauty.” I winked at her. It seems that any one of my three gorgeous bodyguards is a big shot in the North who could shake the region with a single stomp!
The rain poured down, the sky a blur of white. I took out the clay jar, knocked off the mud seal, and drank deeply while gnawing on the spiny fish. In such harsh weather, hiding indoors to eat and drink with a stunning beauty for company is truly a great pleasure.
The fragrant aroma of wine filled the room. Charlotte Harris finally couldn’t resist, snatched my wine jar, sniffed it, and cautiously licked a sip.
I grinned, “How does it taste?”
She glanced at me, then suddenly raised the jar and gulped it down, head thrown back, chugging greedily. The wine trickled down her slender neck, rolling and glistening in her deep cleavage.
I grabbed another jar and drank with her.
We drank from noon till night, both getting dead drunk, with over a dozen wine jars scattered all over the floor.
“Tasty, I… want more.” Charlotte Harris’s face was flushed, her eyes swimming, her tongue tangled.
I burped and set down the empty jar. “You’re drunk, beauty.”
Charlotte Harris giggled uncontrollably. “I’m not some beauty, I’m a beautiful demon. I’m just like you, both of us are demons.”
I waved my hand, the Charlotte Harris before me seemed to be swaying. “Alright, beautiful demon, tell me, tell me how you got cursed? I want to hear it!”
“It was a strange man. I… I don’t even know who he was.” Charlotte Harris licked the rim of the jar, drunkenly shouting, “He wanted me, I refused, so he cursed me. Oh, damn curse, damn man! Where’s the wine? I want more!”
I thumped my chest hard, making a loud thumping sound. “Don’t worry, I’ll go with you to find him. We’ll kill him and break your curse! With me here, you can relax! Tomorrow, I’ll go and slaughter him!”
Charlotte Harris nodded vigorously. “Alright, we’ll go kill him!” With a thud, she collapsed onto the stone bed, snoring thunderously.
Good grief, does a bigger chest mean louder snores? I staggered to my feet. “Damn it, why are you sleeping on my bed! You…” Before I could finish, my legs gave out and I collapsed drunkenly to the floor.
Outside the window, the night rain was cold and clear, drumming densely on the roof. The room was dim, and I lay quietly on the ground, listening to the rain and to Charlotte Harris’s resounding snores.
Suddenly, I laughed.
The room was small and simple.
But very warm.
Because there were two people.
Chapter 009: Please Come With Me (Part 1)
At dawn, I got up. Waking from a hangover, I didn’t feel thirsty at all. After turning into a demon, my sleep time gradually decreased. No matter how tired I was, as long as I slept five or six hours, I’d be full of energy.
Charlotte Harris was still lying on the bed, her deep green hair spread out like a necklace, her body rising and falling with her snores. I greedily watched her for a while before looking away.
The rain had stopped. The air was damp and fresh, clear droplets dripping from the purple lavender petals, the morning breeze carrying the fragrance of grass and trees.
From the tree nest opposite, a few yellow-beaked, blue-feathered birds flew out, chirping as their wings flashed, slicing through the rosy dawn.
This place is truly beautiful and peaceful, a paradise away from the world.
But I was ready to leave.
“Get up!” I kicked the stone bed.
Charlotte Harris opened her sleepy eyes, lazily glanced at me, stretched out her legs, and turned away. “Don’t bother me, I want to sleep a bit more.”
A strange feeling suddenly welled up in my heart. Charlotte Harris was like a sleepy, spoiled wife acting coy with her husband. I steadied myself and shouted, “Get up, lazybones! I’m leaving here to go out for a walk.”
Charlotte Harris turned around in surprise. “You’re going out?”
I nodded. “I’ve been here so long, I’m bored to death. The North must be huge, right? I want to go out and see.”
Charlotte Harris stretched lazily. “Whatever, I’ve been stuck in this damned place for sixteen years, I’m tired of it too.”
I grinned, picked out over ten strings of dried fruit and slung them over my shoulder as rations, then swaggered out of the house. I called to Mary Clark by the lake, “I’m heading out now. If you want to come with me, it’s up to you.” It was just for show, of course I knew they’d follow me. Because of the reincarnation poison oath, wherever I go, they have to follow me like pitiful little shadows to protect me.
Mary Clark was slightly taken aback and asked, “Where are you going?”
I rolled my eyes. “I don’t know, just want to wander around.”
Olivia Harris rose from the snow lotus and landed in front of me, saying coldly, “Why bring trouble on yourself? This place is hidden and safe, a perfect place to hide. If you go out and your identity as the Dragon Butterfly is discovered, you’ll become everyone’s target.”
I sneered, “What am I afraid of? It’s not like you three are useless. Olivia Harris, I know what you’re thinking. You’d rather I stay here peacefully for ten years, then get killed by the heavenly tribulation, so you can be free from the poison oath and live your carefree life.”
