Chapter 10

"Let's get straight to the point. Some time ago, the Galaxy Society received a mysterious, sky-high commission: the life of the eldest daughter of the Wen family, Emily Bennett."

Mr. Smith chuckled, "Mysterious, my ass. It's the Yang family from Tonghai Star, right? They were squeezed to the brink of bankruptcy by the Wen family—the old man committed suicide, the old lady followed him, and the eldest son who inherited the family business ruined himself chasing women, ending up impotent. A billion-credit bounty—this is a blood feud that won't end until someone's dead. With that much money, why not get a sex change or develop your prostate instead of adding so much hostility to society?"

Benjamin Franklin was silent for a long time, then avoided the topic: "This commission isn't difficult for the Galaxy Society. Even though pulling off something this big in Huaxia's territory will inevitably mean some losses, compared to a billion-credit bounty, it's nothing. But now, with the unexpected involvement of a super soldier, things have gotten complicated."

"Yeah, if you treat a super soldier as the hypothetical enemy, the first thing to consider is giving up. Money's nice, but you need to be alive to spend it. But since even a high-ranking officer like you is here in person, it looks like the Galaxy Society is planning to take the risk."

Benjamin Franklin just smiled, then looked at him with those eyes that seemed devoid of human emotion.

Mr. Smith fell silent, but soon gave up resisting under that gaze. He waved his hand, "Fine, let me be direct too. The Galaxy Society sent someone to find me because you want me to join the team and contribute. So, how much are you offering?"

Benjamin Franklin said, "Five million."

"Five million, huh." Mr. Smith tilted his head back, his gaze growing distant. "For an intelligence dealer like me, who's at best an outsider, that's a lot of money."

Benjamin Franklin remained impassive. "Not enough?"

Mr. Smith smiled, "Honestly, it doesn't matter. Sometimes, I don't care that much about money. Even if the Galaxy Society didn't pay a cent, I'd still join."

"Oh?" Benjamin Franklin asked, "Do you have a grudge against the Wen family?"

"Not at all. In fact, I quite like the Wen family's eldest daughter," Mr. Smith said. "As a capitalist, she's as ruthless as any successful peer, but she's good-looking and has a great figure—my type. If I had to say, I actually dislike Wendy Green, that so-called winner at life."

"Then what's your real reason for joining?"

"Of course, it's because of you, my dear Mr. Benjamin Franklin," Mr. Smith said. "I'm willing to join the Galaxy Society's team entirely because of you."

"Me?" Benjamin Franklin still looked expressionless.

"If I said I have a thing for Black men, and can't control myself when I see a strong Black guy, would you accept that answer?"

Benjamin Franklin didn't reply, but his gaze grew even colder.

Mr. Smith sighed, "Rumor has it that no one has ever refused an invitation from Mr. Benjamin Franklin—or rather, no one has ever lived to refuse. Compared to that, the Night Wolf is just a street thug. I don't want to die young and for no reason in a spaceport warehouse, so it's better to be sensible early on. If you can't resist, you might as well try to enjoy it."

"Ha!" Hearing this, the Black man grinned savagely and stood up. "Well said. Let's hope we work well together."

"Don't worry, our cooperation will definitely be pleasant."

The two exchanged smiles, but their gazes grew colder.

Chapter 4: Andrew Green

"Wendy Green, male, 28 years old, born on Huaxia's home planet. His father is a senior staff officer in the Seventh Military District, his mother is the deputy director of the National Defense University Research Institute. At 13, he entered Tianjing University’s economics and management department as the top student in his region. At 17, after graduation, he started a business with a senior, and a year later, the company was sold off, with five partners splitting 600 million credits. They then reinvested this first pot of gold, multiplying their assets tenfold within a year... At 20, he participated in the Dayu Star polar survival challenge show, encountered a life-threatening accident, and became the sole survivor. At 21, he volunteered to join the Huaxia military's High-Energy Research Institute, becoming a one-star super soldier. At 22, he went to the Western Star Domain to pioneer, participated in three local wars to eliminate interstellar pirates, achieved outstanding military merit, and was promoted to two stars. At 25, he was transferred to the Victory Star Domain, participated in the Sirius War, again achieved military merit, and was promoted to three stars. The following year, he applied to transfer to the Tianjing Special Administration Bureau and has worked there ever since..."

On the projection, the information about Wendy Green was concise but made everyone feel increasingly heavy-hearted. On both sides of the long table, the atmosphere was gloomy.

"This guy... is he even human?"

At the head of the table, a tall Black man stared at the projection, dumbfounded, with half a banana stuck in his mouth. After a while, he choked on his saliva and coughed, spraying banana everywhere.

Though the scene was a mess, his seat at the head of the table was enough to show his status. Codename: King Kong, Free Alliance, S-class mercenary.

Opposite him, Benjamin Franklin looked grave and said nothing. Although he was only overseeing the operation and not participating in the actual combat, the difficulty of the opponent was beyond expectations—a super soldier was not uncommon, but Wendy Green's stellar resume was outstanding even among super soldiers. A celebrity-level super soldier like this was bound to bring unpredictability to the upcoming operation.
