The three Yin Generals saw this scene, their eyes growing even redder behind their glasses. Hoarse breaths rasped from their throats as the long blades at their waists were suddenly drawn. Their figures leapt high into the air, heading straight for Grace Harper!
Grace Harper showed no fear at all. Her longsword emitted a dark red glow as she stepped onto the edge of the palace wall, sword in hand, ready for battle!
Summer Clark instantly understood. The reason these three Yin Generals suddenly attacked Grace Harper was because they thought Grace Harper was attacking him!
He hurriedly shouted, “Stop!”
The three Yin Generals heard Summer Clark’s voice and, without the slightest hesitation, twisted their bodies eerily in midair and landed on the ground!
Grace Harper saw how obediently the three Yin Generals followed Summer Clark’s command and couldn’t help but hesitate in her heart: “Could it be that what His Highness said is all true?”
As soon as the three Yin Generals landed, they dropped to one knee. One of them called out loudly, “Yin General Hei Ding, Yin Ding, and An Ding pay respects to the master!”
The thousand Yin Soldiers who had stood motionless like statues also dropped to one knee in unison toward the palace tower, shouting, “Greetings, master!”
Summer Clark was stunned. The Yin Soldiers and Yin Generals in the Yin Soldier Nest actually possessed intelligence?
He had thought they were nothing more than puppets, but unexpectedly, they could speak and think!
This was truly a pleasant surprise!
He coughed lightly and stole a glance at the dumbfounded officials. Even Grace Harper and Julia Reed wore looks of utter disbelief.
“Soldiers, rise!”
Summer Clark did his best to hide his elation, lest the others notice. Facing the martial arena, he spoke loudly.
“Yes, sir!” the Yin Generals responded in unison, rising first. The Yin Soldiers followed suit, their rusted armor clanking in perfect rhythm with their movements.
Julia Reed looked at these powerful armored soldiers before him, and at last, his brows relaxed a little.
He said in a trembling voice, “Your Highness, they acknowledge you as their master?”
Summer Clark nodded, trying to appear relaxed, hoping to inspire more confidence in these old ministers: “They are all gifts from Da Feng. From now on, as long as I am here, they will fight for Taicang.”
Now that non-human races were at the gates, there was no choice but to fight.
Julia Reed nodded, his eyes seeming to glisten with tears. He looked at the imposing ranks of Yin Soldiers and murmured, “Perhaps this is Taicang’s way out?”
Taicang’s Zuoce Zhaoqü saw that some officials still looked hesitant, as if harboring doubts, and couldn’t help but sigh inwardly: “Da Feng’s personal envoy has descended, the earth is shattering, rivers are flowing backward—how could things remain calm?
But now, with Taicang in mortal peril and everyone anxious, perhaps the ‘Da Feng Envoy’ is needed to calm their hearts.”
He seemed to have made up his mind. He came to the very front of the palace tower and bowed deeply to the back of Summer Clark.
Amid the puzzled gazes of the officials, he slowly spoke: “A month ago, Zhaoqü divined and saw in the hexagrams that Taicang still had a sliver of hope. I always thought that hope meant a humiliating peace, but I never expected that the true hope would lie with Your Highness!”
He was the first to kneel before Summer Clark, calling out loudly, “Da Feng’s protection!”
Summer Clark turned around and glanced at Zhaoqü.
The Taicang officials were shocked to see the Zuoce kneeling to Summer Clark.
Because in Taicang, as the one who presides over the rituals, Zhaoqü is not required to kneel to anyone, not even the ruler.
The reason for kneeling was obvious: the Zuoce had acknowledged Summer Clark’s identity as the Da Feng Envoy!
The officials were still in shock.
Julia Reed was the first to step back, spreading his arms wide, pressing his palms together front and back, and kneeling down. The other officials followed suit!
Atop the palace tower, only Grace Harper remained standing, staring fixedly at Summer Clark, her eyes full of confusion.
Summer Clark looked at Grace Harper, and as their eyes met, neither showed any sign of backing down.
At last, the confusion in Grace Harper’s eyes faded. Clad in armor, she dropped to one knee!
Summer Clark’s face was unusually serious and earnest. He let out a long breath: “Thank goodness the memories fused. I thought the hard pouch under me was some special feature of Taicang’s clothing…”
He ignored the kneeling officials, turned, and pulled a pouch from beneath his crotch.
He glanced furtively at the still-kneeling Taicang officials, breathing a sigh of relief, thinking, “The previous crown prince really hid things well. If they’d found this, I might have woken up in a dark cell.”
Summer Clark was about to let the Taicang officials rise when he caught sight of Grace Harper out of the corner of his eye.
He noticed Grace Harper was looking at him, her left index finger raised, pointing at the small pouch. Summer Clark looked down and saw that the pattern embroidered on the pouch was none other than the Da Feng totem!
He coughed awkwardly, quietly took out the Taicang national seal from the pouch, and, like a thief, stuffed the pouch into his wide sleeve to hide it.
“Ministers, please rise,” Summer Clark said sternly and with authority.
Chapter 5: Is It Really That Easy to Kill?
Summer Clark being acknowledged by the Taicang officials allowed him to breathe a little easier.
He casually picked a few lower-ranking ministers and quietly asked them about the enemy forces.
“So all the evil dog troops of the Jiuken Kingdom have cultivation at the sixth heaven?”
Summer Clark had absolutely no concept of cultivation levels in his mind.
