Chapter 16

The vicious dog general stepped closer and closer to Summer Clark, grinning menacingly. “My Jiuchen army is stronger than Taicang; we outnumber you here; you are a member of the Taicang royal family—even if you possess a strange weapon, you are still pitifully weak before me. That is why I am stronger than you. For all these reasons, I want you dead, Jiuchen wants Taicang dead—how could you possibly survive? Are you ready to die?”

“Rest assured, dying on the battlefield is the greatest fortune for a Taicang royal. The other royal families will come to know the true terror of Jiuchen…”

“So, you mean that just because someone outnumbers you, they’re considered strong? That they can humiliate you at will?” Summer Clark’s eyes flickered as he observed the situation on the battlefield. Suddenly, he flashed a bright smile, showing his white teeth, and asked carefully.

The vicious dog general was momentarily stunned, just as he was about to strike down this weak Taicang ant.

Without wasting any more words, suddenly, three powerful auras appeared around him, cutting off all his escape routes!

These three auras were cold and formidable, making the hair on his body stand on end. Each one of them could rival him in strength!

He stiffly turned his head and saw three withered armored warriors in black armor silently watching him, their bloodshot eyes beneath their helmets devoid of any emotion.

It was as if they were looking at a corpse!

Summer Clark coughed lightly, a brilliant smile spreading across his face. “General, now I am the strong one. I’d like to ask you the same question.”

“Are you ready to die?”

Chapter 9: The Fruit Core

Summer Clark’s long endurance had finally yielded an astonishing reward!

With the combined strength of the three Yin Generals, the vicious dog general struggled desperately but to no avail. In just a few dozen breaths, he was cut down.

Summer Clark held the dog’s head of the vicious dog general in his hand, standing tall, thick mist billowing from behind him.

He looked as if he belonged in a fairyland.

Grace Harper’s sword energy soared to the sky, severing an arm from the gold-eating giant ape. She looked toward Summer Clark, seeing that with him at the center, Yin soldiers with spears were continuously emerging and joining the battle.

The Yin army, whose strength was no less than that of the Cang Guard Army, formed teams of ten.

They relentlessly hunted down the scattered soldiers of the vicious dog army. Countless Jiuchen soldiers were killed before they could even react, falling under the coordinated onslaught of the Yin army.

Often, before they could even call for help, several sinister spears would pierce their bodies, then lift and tear them to pieces, scattering them across the ground.

The spectators atop the city walls, seeing the Yin army finally reveal themselves and achieve such unexpected results, were moved to tears, their eyes red with excitement.

“Former Lord, do you see this? Taicang has survived another calamity!” Melody Shaw’s voice trembled as he knelt down, weeping.

“Former Lord… I may have failed to keep my promise…

Do not blame Julia Reed. If this were an era of peace and prosperity, Julia Reed would surely punish His Highness severely.

But our human race is too weak in this vast wilderness filled with great clans. Without His Highness, the wind that drives us forward, I fear the hundreds of thousands of Taicang’s people would all perish!”

A thought stirred in Julia Reed’s heart as well: “You spent your life striving for Taicang and for humanity. Now you should rest, and enjoy glory in the heavenly court of Cang. You need not worry about Taicang every day!”

The vicious dog army was being killed and routed without end!

In just a few moments since the Yin army appeared, they had already achieved such a brilliant victory that Summer Clark was overjoyed.

The reason the vicious dog army was so easily routed was not because the Yin army was stronger.

Rather, the vicious dog army had been scattered by the Hunter Army and the Cang Guard Army, while the Yin army arrived prepared, focusing on slaughtering the isolated vicious dog soldiers and sweeping away all Jiuchen in their path.

Seeing powerful reinforcements arrive, the Cang Guard Army, though exhausted, found renewed strength and began to counterattack.

“Roar!”

The gold-eating giant ape, whose arm had been severed by Grace Harper, let out a thunderous roar. Blood gushed from its wound like a fountain. The vicious dog general sitting atop the ape’s head looked to be in excruciating pain, as if his own arm had been cut off.

A look of determination appeared on Grace Harper’s face. Though her spiritual energy was greatly depleted, she was confident that what remained was enough to slay this gold-eating giant ape, a beast that could rival a Ninth Heaven expert.

And so it was. Grace Harper’s sword danced, each strike stronger and hotter than the last, forcing the already exhausted giant ape into a corner, leaving it only able to let out helpless, anguished cries.

“Qingjun Sword, behead!”

At last, a sword energy three zhang long burst forth, slashing at the ape’s head and severing it in one blow!

The giant ape’s body convulsed a few times before crashing to the ground. The vicious dog general atop its head trembled all over, his blood vessels bursting as he died!

Both vicious dog generals were dead, and over eight hundred of the vicious dog army had been slain. The remaining Jiuchen, seeing the unstoppable momentum of the Yin army and the Cang Guard Army, hurriedly threw down their weapons and tried to flee.

“Don’t let a single one escape.” General Grant, like Summer Clark, held a dog’s head in one hand and waved his blade with the other, roaring, “If even one escapes, that’s one more Taicang son or daughter who might die at their hands. Kill them all!”

Yin Ding, Hei Ding, and An Ding—the three Yin Generals—rushed past, cutting down the fleeing Jiuchen one by one, slicing them in half at the waist.

Summer Clark let out a long breath and murmured to himself, “It seems this calamity has finally passed.”
