Chapter 13

The range was as far as three hundred zhang!

In Summer Clark's eyes, these feathered arrows were even more formidable than heavy crossbows.

Because occasionally, when one or two fell onto open ground, even stones were split apart by their impact!

Yet, even such powerful feathered arrows failed to inflict any significant casualties on the vanguard of the Evil Hound Army.

Two black-furred Evil Hound Generals leapt up from underground with all their might.

They stomped the ground beneath their feet, leaving cracks in the earth, and in the blink of an eye, their bodies were airborne. With a swing of the wolf-tooth clubs in their hands, a flash of blue spiritual energy appeared, and the feathered arrows were forcibly broken and fell to the ground.

Although the other Evil Hound soldiers were not as terrifying as the Evil Hound Generals,

they were extremely fast. Except for a few who were shot in vital spots and died on the spot,

the rest of the Evil Hounds could always dodge in time. Some of the stronger ones could even catch the arrows with their bare hands!

"This is nothing like cold weapon warfare on Earth!"

Summer Clark broke out in a cold sweat, but he didn't feel much fear. On the contrary, his whole body trembled with excitement.

"Can the physical body really be this powerful? Taicang, the Hound Clan, and Zhou Qing are actually just insignificant small nations in the boundless wilderness, not worth mentioning. If the truly powerful divine kingdoms go to war, what kind of earth-shattering spectacle would that be?"

The four thousand Cang defenders, who were preparing to face the enemy head-on, also charged at the Hound Clan like wild beasts after Grace Harper gave the order.

Four thousand men faced over five thousand Hound Clan soldiers, whose strength far surpassed their own, yet they showed no fear!

To defend Taicang, to protect their loved ones—what is there to fear in death? If they feared death, then when the time came, even dying swiftly would be a luxury for their families.

If Taicang fell, even if they survived, what awaited them would be a fate worse than death.

So they had no choice but to fight with all their might, risking their lives for a slim chance of survival!

One by one, giant flaming boulders fell from the walls of Taicheng into the ranks of the Hound Clan.

Each boulder smashed a huge pit into the ground.

These giant stones finally inflicted casualties on the Hound Clan. In just two waves of falling boulders, dozens of Evil Hounds were crushed to death.

The two Evil Hound Generals exchanged glances, and one of them approached the Gold-Eating Giant Ape. An Evil Hound soldier handed over a silver needle as tall as half a man.

The Evil Hound General took the silver needle, leapt high, landed on the giant ape's face, and viciously stabbed the needle into the center of the ape's brow.

The giant ape let out a thunderous roar, and in its frenzied struggle, it trampled dozens of Hound Clan soldiers to death. The Evil Hound General sat steadily atop the ape's head, eyes wide open, red light flashing within.

After a bout of struggling, the giant ape's eyes were gradually overtaken by the red light. It stood upright and slammed its palm at an incoming boulder!

The boulder was instantly smashed to dust, scattering in all directions. The giant ape did not stop there; it spread its arms and forcibly caught another giant stone!

Grace Harper's expression changed, and she muttered, "This is bad!"

The giant ape caught the boulder, its right arm muscles bulging layer upon layer. Immense power was transmitted from its arm into the stone, and the boulder was hurled out. The speed and the sound of it tearing through the air told everyone that this throw was even more terrifying than a catapult!

And this throw was aimed straight at the very front of the Cang defenders—at Grace Harper and Summer Clark.

Grace Harper drew her longsword, took a deep breath, and blue light rapidly gathered on the blade as she slashed down at the boulder!

A streak of blue sword energy burst forth from the blade and struck the boulder, instantly cleaving it in two.

Even so, the two halves of the boulder did not lose their momentum, crashing heavily into the Cang defenders, sending dust flying and leaving a huge pit in the ground.

At this moment, the two armies finally clashed!

The formidable individual strength was finally revealed, as the Evil Hound Army drove straight into the Ji defenders.

Under the claws of the hounds, it often took two Ji soldiers to withstand the assault of a single Evil Hound, and even then, they were barely holding on and at a disadvantage.

The Predation Army followed closely behind the Evil Hound Army, splitting into two groups to flank the Ji defenders from the sides, launching a slaughter against the Ji soldiers on the flanks!

The Ji defenders on the front lines were in grave danger!

Suddenly, from the two trenches on the flanks, two more squads of Ji defenders charged out, like sharp swords stabbing into the side of the Predation Army.

Grace Harper stayed close to Summer Clark, tightly guarding him. Within a radius of three zhang around them, the ground was littered with Hound Clan corpses, forming a vacuum zone.

"Is it time now?" With a single sword, she cleaved an Evil Hound in two. Grace Harper turned and asked.

Summer Clark glanced around and replied, "The Evil Hounds are still too concentrated. Wait until they spread out a bit more."

Grace Harper nodded and was about to continue escorting Summer Clark forward.

But then she saw the Gold-Eating Giant Ape slowly approaching them.

Atop the ape's head, an Evil Hound General's eyes flashed with murderous intent as he looked at the two of them.

Grace Harper gripped her longsword tightly, her aura surging with the power of nine heavens, and said to Summer Clark, "Find a way to protect yourself."

Summer Clark was stunned and was about to speak, but Grace Harper had already shot toward the giant ape, her voice echoing in the air: "This giant ape is being controlled by the Evil Hound General and has its sights set on us. I'll go take it down. Otherwise, if it gets close to you, I'll be forced to hold back and won't be able to fight with all my strength. By then, we'll both be dead.

So let me hold it off."
