Two hundred li outside Taicheng, at the border of the Taicang and Zhouqing kingdoms, on the Cangqing Mountain, a young girl dressed in luxurious clothes, with a green wooden hairpin adorned with flowers in her hair and her face covered by a light veil—her features shrouded in mystery and beauty—was gazing into the distance toward Taicheng.
Beside her stood a young man in silver armor, tall and strong, with a fair, beardless face of striking handsomeness.
“The seal in the mountains is growing weaker and weaker. You were ordered to come here and reinforce the seal, which is an urgent matter. I didn’t expect you’d still be interested in watching ants at play.”
The silver-armored youth wore a captivating smile as he spoke softly to the mysterious girl, but she gave no response, as if she hadn’t heard him at all.
The youth’s expression gradually darkened.
He, too, looked toward Taicheng, two hundred li away. A shadow flickered in his eyes, and as if the sky sensed his anger, dark clouds gathered, blocking out the three blazing suns. His forehead twisted in a strange way, revealing a silver vertical eye!
This youth actually had three eyes.
A bolt of lightning flashed in the silver vertical eye on his forehead. Suddenly, the mysterious girl’s cool voice sounded: “They’re all just ants. Why bother getting angry with them?”
The lightning in the youth’s vertical eye instantly vanished.
“I really can’t understand—how can such a lowly race as the human clan, with their natural appearance, dare to look just like us?” There was a hint of shame in the youth’s tone, as if the resemblance between humans and his own kind was a great humiliation.
The mysterious girl shook her head. “The Boundless Wilds are vast—so vast that even the gods don’t know where their end lies. In such a vast land, there’s nothing that can’t happen.”
“Besides, there are countless races in the Boundless Wilds, and among them, many look more or less the same. They all have divine forms, so it’s not that strange.”
The silver-armored youth nodded and asked, “Edith Gray, then when will you reinforce the seal?”
“It’s already been reinforced,” replied the girl called Edith Gray.
“Already?” The silver-armored youth was taken aback. The vertical eye in his gaze shot out a silver beam, penetrating deep into Cangqing Mountain, extending through rock and earth, reaching the ground beneath the mountain.
There, a colossal beast—neither bird nor leopard, a hundred zhang long—was resting with eyes closed underground.
All around the beast were densely packed, vivid red flowers, exuding a terrifying aura. These flowers formed a binding spiritual array, suppressing the beast.
Sensing someone watching it, the beast slowly opened its eyes, meeting the gaze of the silver-armored youth.
At once, the youth heard the cries of countless infants. He seemed to see the earth collapsing, and a bizarre infant with jagged teeth and eyes like bronze bells was swallowing the land, mouthful by mouthful!
Countless living beings, countless demons and monsters, were devoured by the infant—himself included!
“Susan Ford, the seal is here, and you still dare to act up?” The silver-armored youth snorted coldly, his vertical eye shining with spiritual light that surged into the illusion. Instantly, the youth broke free from the vision.
The giant beast called Susan Ford heard the youth’s rebuke but didn’t move at all, lazily closing its eyes and continuing to sleep.
“The seal really has been reinforced.” The silver-armored youth let out a long breath and smiled.
The mysterious girl nodded, her figure flickering and vanishing without a trace.
Seeing her leave without a word, the youth’s once radiant smile turned instantly gloomy.
He flipped his palm, and two small brown fruits appeared in his hand. He put one in his mouth and casually tossed the other into the void.
A ripple spread through the air, and a massive, multicolored python—over a hundred zhang long—emerged. Its head darted like lightning, swallowing the pitifully small brown fruit before it.
The silver-armored youth looked at the giant python, a trace of cruelty in his eyes. “As usual, with such meager power, let’s see who can kill more ants?”
The multicolored python flicked its tongue, staring at the youth.
The youth glanced toward distant Taicheng, then shook his head. “Forget it, Edith Gray just told me not to bother with these ants, and now I’d be making them my target. That would be too petty.”
He turned west, puffed out his cheeks, and spat out a fruit pit. The python also spat out a pit, which shot out right after his.
The two pits, seemingly containing immense power, crossed mountains and rivers, flying into a small kingdom even farther west in Zhouqing, where they exploded with a tremendous roar.
That kingdom, home to many living beings, was wiped out by the two pits.
The youth’s gaze traveled the vast distance, saw this scene, and nodded in satisfaction. “I win again this time.”
The multicolored python shook its massive head, apparently dissatisfied with the result.
The silver-armored youth laughed again. “Still trying to cheat? Last time, I wasn’t interested and casually picked that ant-like little kingdom as the target, hitting a military camp.”
“Though only a little over four thousand ants died, don’t forget, last time you got greedy and swallowed the pit, so of course you lost.”
In Taicang, as Summer Clark was preparing a victory banquet, he still thought the destruction of the Cang Guard Army was due to a meteor disaster. He never realized how close he had once come to death.
Chapter 10: Divine Tree Spirit Seed
The calamity of Taicang had, for now, come to an end.
Summer Clark’s consciousness took human form, gazing at the towering black trunk of the divine tree in his mind, a trace of excitement in his heart.
