Chapter 6

He had no idea just how much of these memories had been lost, because he’d only had less than an hour to sort through them, while the memories of Bloodslaughter spanned a full three thousand seven hundred years. How much could he possibly view in just one hour?

What he managed to see wasn’t even one ten-thousandth of the whole—he’d only skimmed a rough outline.

But even this brief outline left Brian Carter feeling overwhelmed. Were these things real or fake? Fake? But why did it all feel so real? Whenever he thought about it, it was as if he was recalling something he himself had just done—vivid and unmistakable. This clarity was etched into his very bones and soul.

So, was it real? But if it was, he found it hard to believe. Could someone really be so powerful as to destroy a planet with a flip of the hand, to kill without batting an eye, to have slaughtered so many living beings in a lifetime that you’d have to count them by the number of planets? The world revealed by the other party was simply too vast, too terrifying.

But then again, after thinking it over, Brian Carter still hoped that all of it was real. Because in Bloodslaughter’s memories, there were so many ways for an ordinary person to become stronger step by step, to gain the ability to fly, to escape the earth, to become almost omnipotent. If all of that was real, didn’t it mean he could try to change himself, to become that kind of being?

Once the thought occurred to him, Brian Carter wanted to continue browsing the memories, but suddenly his body froze—he felt the urge to pee.

“I can go to the bathroom before looking again.” Muttering to himself, Brian Carter was just about to get up, but suddenly frowned as he looked down at his lower body.

He was, of course, wearing pants—a loose hospital gown—but he could see that a small tube extended out from his pants. This was a catheter, used for patients who had been unconscious for more than twelve hours. Just from the name, you could tell that one end of the tube was inserted into his urethra.

A grown man with this thing stuck inside him—Brian Carter suddenly felt depressed. Actually, he’d noticed it as soon as he woke up, but there were too many people coming and going at the time, and he was too embarrassed to bring it up. He could only pretend not to notice, planning to pull it out himself once everyone left. Who would have thought that as soon as the doctors left and he’d just started to collect his thoughts, he’d discover all those extra memories?

For a while, he’d forgotten about this little issue, but now it was like an alarm clock suddenly going off in Brian Carter’s mind.

He still had this thing stuck down there—he needed to get it out, fast.

But when Brian Carter frowned and bent over to pull out the catheter, he was shocked to find that no matter how many times he tried, he just couldn’t get it out. It was as if the thing was stuck inside.

This made Brian Carter even more distressed. What was he supposed to do?

While he was frowning and racking his brains, a sudden knock sounded at the door. Brian Carter was startled, and a graceful figure pushed the door open and entered.

It was a rather attractive young woman, about 1.65 meters tall, with a curvy figure, wearing a leopard-print dress—definitely the type to catch a man’s eye.

Her face was about a seven or eight out of ten—pretty and stylish, but compared to Jason Bennett, whom Brian Carter had seen last time, she was at least two levels below. Her figure was shapely, but still couldn’t compare to a top-tier beauty like Jason Bennett.

Still, her height matched well with Brian Carter.

A trace of embarrassment flashed in Brian Carter’s eyes. This was his girlfriend, Samantha Cooper—the only thing he’d gained from two years at a mediocre university, and the thing this ordinary young man had always been most proud of. After all, while she couldn’t compare to a stunner like Jason Bennett, Samantha Cooper was still considered pretty by most people. The fact that he’d managed to win her over made Brian Carter a little smug.

But why did she come in without knocking? He really felt a bit embarrassed for her to see him like this.

However, seeing Samantha Cooper reminded Brian Carter of something else. Before he woke up, he seemed to vaguely remember overhearing a conversation: someone had notified her as soon as he was hospitalized, but she only came yesterday, and after seeing that he’d been in a coma for two days and still hadn’t woken up, she just turned around and left?

Any man, upon discovering that his partner had treated him like this while he was unconscious, would probably feel pretty bad. Even though Brian Carter had always treated Samantha Cooper extremely well, even willing to do anything to make her happy, now he couldn’t help but frown.

Chapter 004: I’ll Think About It

“Are you okay?” As Brian Carter looked over with a slight frown, Samantha Cooper stepped closer, her fair face held high. She glanced at the hospital bed, and when she saw what was under Brian Carter, her bright eyes flashed with surprise. But the surprise quickly turned to realization, and then a trace of disgust flickered across her face.

Brian Carter was wearing pants, but the catheter extended out from them. Anyone with a brain could figure out where that thing was inserted.

A man with a tube in his urethra to urinate—it was indeed a bit weird.

“I’m fine.” That trace of disgust didn’t escape Brian Carter’s notice, which made his already uncomfortable mood even worse, but he still spoke with a frown.

His calm words made Samantha Cooper pause in surprise. She glanced at Brian Carter in astonishment. She felt like Brian Carter had changed. In the past, whenever he was with her, he would do anything to make her happy, and just a casual smile from her would leave him utterly captivated.

Normally, if she took the initiative to visit him, he’d be so happy he’d be grinning like an idiot. Why was he so calm this time?
