Chapter 5

Thinking of this, Brian Brooks, who was in the middle of peeing, couldn’t help but lower his head to look at his own chest, a strange and indescribable feeling rising in his heart.

He clearly remembered that before entering the Spirit Cultivation Room, he had casually placed this half-black mask in his arms. After encountering danger, he hadn’t had time to pay attention to it, until not long ago, when he accidentally discovered that although the mask looked normal, in reality, his hand could pass right through it, as if it could never be touched.

It was as if this illusory world, capable of simulating all things, was impossible to analyze or reconstruct in substance.

As time passed, even its external shape began to blur, and some indistinct, unreadable characters started to appear on it.

Although he couldn’t make them out, the changes in the mask made Brian Brooks’s original fifty percent confidence turn into a hundred percent!

And following this line of thought, if this was a test formed by a fake disaster, it wasn’t hard to guess the direction of the assessment.

“It can’t possibly be about who’s stronger or weaker—after all, none of us have even touched ancient martial arts yet. So the purpose of this test must be to assess one’s mindset in a crisis, and maybe also one’s confidence in the Dao Academy?” As Brian Brooks peed, his mind kept spinning, and from time to time he even shivered from the cold.

As the little flower in front of him grew more and more disheveled, Brian Brooks’s breathing became a bit rapid. He felt it was necessary to seize this opportunity to score some extra points for himself.

“That’s what I’ll do!” With this thought, Brian Brooks gave a vigorous shake, just about to pull up his pants, when suddenly he saw the small river not far away.

Under the moonlight, although Megan Foster was standing there, in Brian Brooks’s eyes, she had already disappeared, replaced by a cute girl cleaning her wounds.

“There’s actually a humanoid fierce beast!” Brian Brooks’s eyes widened, he gasped, his heart racing. But after just one glance, the vigilant Megan Foster seemed to sense something, looked over, and her gaze met Brian Brooks’s. Both were stunned, then her expression changed dramatically. Before she could scream, Brian Brooks glared, pulled up his pants, and shouted first.

“What are you looking at? Never seen a man pee before?!”

As soon as he spoke, Megan Foster felt all her words were choked back by Brian Brooks’s sentence, her whole body trembling with anger. In all her life, she had only ever met someone as shameless as Brian Brooks. She couldn’t help but curse.

“Fatty, you call yourself a man?!”

Hearing this, Brian Brooks almost got even fatter from anger. He and the sharp-tongued Megan Foster had been mortal enemies since childhood, always finding each other disagreeable, and now they were even in the same class and had both been admitted to the Misty Dao Academy. At this moment, Brian Brooks took a deep breath and snorted.

“Flat-chest, you call yourself a woman?!”

When Megan Foster heard this, she nearly spat out a mouthful of blood, veins bulging on her forehead. Just as she was about to rush over, Brian Brooks let out a long sigh.

“My pure and innocent body has been seen so clearly by you all—how am I supposed to face anyone after this?” With a look of utter despair, he held up his pants, turned, and ran, his heart pounding and cold sweat running down his back. He thought to himself, Thank goodness I reacted quickly, or I’d be in real trouble.

Seeing Brian Brooks about to escape, Megan Foster’s almond-shaped eyes widened in fury as she chased after him. The cute girl in the river, having heard their vicious exchange, looked utterly confused, completely unaware that she’d been taken advantage of by Brian Brooks. When she saw Megan Foster give chase, she hurriedly put on her clothes, blushing as she quickly followed.

At this moment, with Megan Foster’s angry shouts, the peace of the rainforest was shattered. From the direction of their temporary camp in the jungle ahead, a group of people quickly rushed over at the sound, blocking Brian Brooks’s path.

At the head of the group was a young man dressed in white, holding a torch. He was tall, with sword-like eyebrows and starry eyes, standing out among the crowd. Many students surrounded him, clearly taking him as their leader.

This person was none other than David Clark, who, over the past three days in this group’s camp, had united everyone and displayed his personal charisma.

“Brian Brooks, what did you do?!” David Clark immediately saw Megan Foster and the other girl chasing after him in anger, while Brian Brooks, being chased, was still fastening his pants as he walked… This bizarre scene made David Clark pause for a moment. He had long had feelings for Megan Foster, and now instinctively felt a dislike for Brian Brooks.

“I was just taking a leak…” Brian Brooks hadn’t even finished speaking when suddenly, from the direction of the running Megan Foster and the other girl, a piercing scream rang out.

The moment the scream sounded, a strong stench instantly filled the air, and a rustling noise, like a tidal wave, spread rapidly like a storm.

Brian Brooks whipped his head around. At the same time, David Clark and the other students’ expressions changed. In their eyes, they saw that all around Megan Foster and the cute girl in the distance, on the ground and in the trees of the jungle, countless snakes were suddenly appearing!

The snakes were brightly colored, looking extremely venomous, and there were so many of them that from afar, it looked like a sea of snakes, completely surrounding Megan Foster and the other girl.

Seeing the countless venomous snakes all around, the two girls’ faces changed dramatically, especially as the snakes had already opened their mouths full of fangs, venom dripping down and making a hissing sound, the stench making people want to vomit.
