Chapter 12

The Misty Dao Institute was enormous, especially this Lower Academy Island, which was vast enough to accommodate a hundred thousand people studying and living within it. At this moment, in the southeastern part of the Lower Academy Island, at the location of the air harbor, dozens of gigantic hot air balloon airships were docked.

Countless students, carrying curiosity and excitement, were disembarking from the airships with their luggage. Although there was a cacophony of noise, even more prevalent were joyful laughs.

All these people were students from different regions of the Federation who had been admitted to the Misty Dao Institute this year.

On the deck of one of the airships, Brian Brooks and the others from Phoenix City were also carrying their luggage, each of them visibly excited. They gazed at the blue sky and white clouds, at the distant peaks of the various departments, feeling refreshed in both body and mind, filled with an indescribable sense of anticipation.

However, compared to their youthful vigor, the old physician and the teachers who had just walked out from the main pavilion all wore slightly odd expressions. By now, they were already quite familiar with this group of students from Phoenix City.

The one they were most familiar with was Brian Brooks, so they couldn't help but glance at Brian Brooks a few more times.

This scene was immediately noticed by Brian Brooks, who was used to reading people's expressions. Even though he was in the crowd, he always cared about his assessment results and kept an eye on where the teachers were, which was how he noticed something was off.

“Why are they all looking at me... Could it be that my assessment results are just too outstanding? Haha, it must be that.” Brian Brooks instantly became excited, though there was also some confusion mixed in, because among the teachers, there was a goateed one whose gaze, when it landed on him, seemed to carry a hint of grief and indignation.

“What’s going on...” Brian Brooks wondered inwardly, feeling that the goateed teacher seemed to have some kind of issue. Before he could think it through, all the teachers, including the goateed one, started walking straight toward them.

“Henry Brooks, come here, I’ll take you to register.” As they approached, one of the teachers quickened his pace and called out to the red-clothed youth.

Henry Brooks nodded thoughtfully and walked over, then was taken away by the teacher. It could be seen that as they walked, the teacher seemed to be enthusiastically recommending something.

Seeing this, Brian Brooks's eyes lit up, and his breathing quickened slightly. He had a guess—could it be that the results from the assessment were starting to take effect at this very moment?

His heart began to race with anticipation. He puffed out his chest, afraid the teachers wouldn’t notice him.

“Samuel Wright, come with me.”

“David Clark, you too.” Soon, the teachers began calling out names one after another, taking each of them away.

This scene made everyone’s hearts start to race. They could tell that those being called were clearly the ones who had performed well in the assessment and were being valued by the teachers, who were now extending olive branches to recruit them for their respective departments.

Brian Brooks felt secretly proud. Although he hadn’t heard his name called yet, he was very confident in his assessment results. He thought that the later you were called, the better you must be. He even began to look forward to which teacher would value him the most.

“If all the teachers want me, what should I do? Oh, such a headache, I don’t know how to choose.” Brian Brooks was inwardly delighted, holding his head high and chest out. But after waiting for a long time, he saw that even Megan Foster had been called away, and of the hundreds of students around him, only about eighty percent remained. He started to feel a bit dazed.

“No way...” Brian Brooks wiped the sweat from his forehead, finding it hard to stay calm.

Especially as he watched the teachers continue to take people away, until almost none were left. When even the old physician glanced at Brian Brooks before leaving, and only the goateed teacher—who looked as if everyone owed him money—remained, Brian Brooks felt his vision go dark.

At that moment, the goateed teacher’s chest heaved a few times, his face looking extremely reluctant and helpless, as if he had no choice but to walk the path he had chosen, no matter how difficult. He finally spoke.

“Brian Brooks, aren’t you coming over yet!” These words seemed to be squeezed out from between his teeth. After saying them, the goateed teacher turned and got off the airship.

Brian Brooks was instantly thrilled, feeling as if that voice was heavenly music. He had no time to consider the teacher’s expression and hurriedly ran after him, following the goateed teacher with great enthusiasm, as if he would have unhesitatingly helped carry his luggage if there had been any.

After they left, the remaining disciples were led off the ship together. These students, who hadn’t shown any special performance, would each choose their own departments in the coming days.

Outside the air harbor of Lower Academy Island, the goateed teacher walked briskly ahead with his hands behind his back, his face dark. In front of him, several small airships were docked, and some older students in blue academy uniforms were waiting there excitedly. Whenever they saw a pretty girl, they would immediately rush over to greet her warmly. When they saw the goateed teacher approaching, they quickly became respectful.

“Teacher, please slow down. Which department are we in?” Behind the goateed teacher came the panting voice of Brian Brooks. The goateed teacher was a master himself and walked too fast, making it hard for Brian Brooks, who hadn’t practiced ancient martial arts, to keep up.
