"Alright."
Passing by, Henry Bolton found it amusing—this idiot only knows how to say 'alright'.
He had no interest in observing this master and servant, and pretended to casually turn into the alley.
Olivia Miller looked at this alley and suddenly remembered that it seemed to be part of his family's property as well.
So he decided to take a look at his family's property.
The young man turned his head, only to see the maid named Lily bowing her head, seriously picking out fabrics.
The master and servant came to buy a piece of cloth at their own doorstep, without bringing any other attendants. Olivia Miller smiled lightly, lifted his foot, and entered the alley.
The alley was lined with residences, offering a sense of tranquility amidst the bustle. At this moment, there were no other pedestrians.
Grass grew from the cracks between the bluestone slabs. The scenery was quite nice—white walls and black tiles, like an ancient city steeped in history.
Olivia Miller thought, this place seems to be some kind of 'capital city'. Now, he was a rich second generation with an entire street in the capital.
Life really is like a dream.
One morning, he died, and suddenly became rich and noble!
Unfortunately, for now, he still had to pretend to be an idiot, so as not to scare everyone.
He wondered if people in this era were superstitious. What if his family thought he was possessed by a demon and tried to catch and burn him... Hmm, he seemed to have heard of such things in dreams before.
Also, who exactly was trying to kill him?
"I'm so adorable, and yet someone wants to kill me."—The young man named Olivia Miller shook his head slightly, joking to himself.
He saw the young scholar walking ahead, hurrying along, but glancing at every courtyard gate...
Henry Bolton finally stopped in front of a courtyard gate, turned his head, and looked around. When he saw Olivia Miller, he was momentarily stunned.
Olivia Miller walked straight ahead like a fool.
Seeing no one else around, Henry Bolton knocked on the door ring.
After a while, the wooden door opened, and someone peeked out—a glimpse of black hair coiled in a spiral bun, a fleeting beauty.
"Master Zhang has arrived."
The voice was very pleasant.
The young scholar impatiently slipped into the courtyard.
"Ying!"
With a bang, the wooden door closed, startling Olivia Miller.
In broad daylight, too.
He shook his head self-mockingly and continued inspecting his family's property...
After making a round, Olivia Miller walked through several alleys and headed back, passing by that courtyard again.
Suddenly, the door creaked open.
The young scholar's face was full of panic.
The two locked eyes, both startled!
Olivia Miller thought, That fast?
Henry Bolton thought, It's over, it's over, I've been caught.
"You... are you an idiot?"
Olivia Miller rolled his eyes inwardly—Is that how you greet someone? You're the idiot, your whole family are idiots.
He could only put on a vacant expression like a fool, as if answering, "Yes, I'm an idiot."
Henry Bolton looked around, saw no one else in the alley, and suddenly grabbed Olivia Miller and dragged him into the courtyard.
Olivia Miller thought, It's over, it's over, I've stumbled upon this couple's affair and now they're going to kill me to silence me.
With a bang, the wooden door closed again.
Olivia Miller focused his gaze and saw a beautiful woman standing on the steps in front of the house. Her hair was styled high with a simple pearl hairpin, her lake-blue long dress like a lotus, her figure graceful, breathtakingly beautiful... She looked over with a probing gaze, and Olivia Miller quickly lowered his head.
The next moment, he saw a fat-headed, big-eared man lying face down at the foot of the steps, with a gaping hole in the back of his head. It was unclear if he was still alive...
Chapter 2: Honey Trap
"I am an idiot."
"Remember, remember, I am an idiot."
Olivia Miller silently recited this twice in his heart, doing his best to control his expression.
The man on the ground lay face down, motionless. Judging by the wound on the back of his head, he was very, very dead.
In his previous life, he had lived peacefully, never experiencing any great calamity. This was his first time observing the inside of a human skull up close. He suppressed the urge to vomit and put on a vacant look.
"What should I do, what should I do?!" Henry Bolton spoke rapidly. "This kid saw me. If he tells anyone, my bright future will be ruined."
Olivia Miller glanced sideways and saw the woman on the steps with her arms crossed, exuding charm, but with a hint of mockery in her eyes.
"So what do you plan to do?" she asked.
As she spoke, her gaze lingered on Olivia Miller, the corners of her mouth curling into a thoughtful smile. She added, "This must be the third young master of the Wang family. He really is quite handsome."
Henry Bolton paid her no mind, pacing back and forth. Suddenly, he looked up and blurted out a few words.
"Might as well go all the way."
Olivia Miller dared not move, glancing sideways to see Henry Bolton bending down to pick up the bloodstained rock on the ground.
That rock seemed to have originally been used to press down pickled vegetables, but judging by this woman, she clearly wasn't the type to make pickles—Olivia Miller thought.
Henry Bolton's hand was trembling.
He was just a refined scholar, never having done anything as rough as killing.
Killing Edward Cooper just now was an accident, but now, to kill this idiot was another matter. Henry Bolton couldn't help but feel nervous, but thinking of his bright future, he gritted his teeth and raised the heavy rock high.
