Chapter 9

“Olivia knows.”

He responded obediently, but secretly sighed in his heart, Ah, life is so hard for me...

Chapter 4: The Rolling Pin

The Wang family had many members, and their residence covered a large area. Olivia Miller was led around by Lily until he was dizzy before finally returning to his own small courtyard.

The courtyard wasn’t big, but it was clean and elegant, with some Chinese flowering plums planted in the corners and vines climbing up the walls.

The main room faced south, with bright windows and a neat, square layout—in Olivia Miller’s words, it was “two bedrooms, one living room, one kitchen, and one bathroom.”

Besides Lily, who served Olivia Miller, there was another maid for rough work named 'Blade'.

Because the Wang family was in the liquor business, most of the maids in the household were named after types of alcohol. The other maids had elegant names like “Qiulu, Tanxiang, Yuli, Sangluo,” but hers was just “Shaodaozi.”

Later, everyone found “Shaodaozi” a mouthful to say, so they called her Blade. Yesterday, when Olivia Miller heard Lily call her by name, he thought she was a female bodyguard.

Lily was a personal maid, first-class in both looks and character. Blade, on the other hand, was a rough maid, plain in appearance, strong but with no martial skills at all—her reputation was undeserved.

When Olivia Miller and Lily returned, Blade had already brought food from the main kitchen and set it on the table, then went to stoke the fire and fetch water.

After the two maids busied themselves for a while, Lily had Olivia Miller put his hands in the basin, washed them for him, and carefully dried them. This made Olivia Miller feel very much like he was back in kindergarten.

Once he sat at the table, with the two maids standing behind him, he felt even more uncomfortable.

Yesterday, being “new here,” he didn’t dare say much, so he let himself be handled like a fool all day. Today, though, he had picked up a few tricks—he was supposed to have the intelligence of a “five-year-old child,” which was hard to pull off, but since everyone already thought he was mentally challenged, the occasional surprising remark wouldn’t draw much attention.

The key to acting like an idiot was to act cute... Hmm, too bad he messed it up with Tang Qianqian; he’d have to work on his acting skills.

Now that he was familiar with the environment and less shy, he invited the two maids to sit and eat with him. Lily and Blade just shook their heads, so Olivia Miller started acting up and playing cute like a fool.

Finally, the two maids gave in, carrying their bowls and chopsticks to sit on either side of him.

“We’re all family, let’s eat together from now on.” — Taking advantage of his “idiot” persona, he decided to use an old meme to express his satisfaction.

Blade couldn’t help but mutter quietly to Lily, “Young master seems even sillier these past two days.”

Olivia Miller: “...”

“He’s not. Young master has always liked to say strange things.” Lily had always doted on Olivia Miller and defended him in every way. She even picked up some food and put it in his bowl...

Eating together like this was naturally more enjoyable than having someone stand behind you watching. After the meal, the two maids tacitly divided the chores again: Blade washed the dishes and tidied up, while Lily fed Olivia Miller candied fruit and snacks.

Looking at the candied fruit in front of him, Olivia Miller was quite resistant. He shook his head and even leaned back.

This stuff was high in sugar, easy to get fat from, and could cause diabetes. No, thanks.

“Young master, you’re being naughty again.”

Lily seemed a bit helpless and withdrew her hand.

Olivia Miller breathed a sigh of relief.

The next moment, he saw the young girl bite into the candied fruit, carefully remove the pit with her teeth, and then offer it to Olivia Miller.

Olivia Miller: “...”

That’s not hygienic, sis.

Seeing Olivia Miller shaking his head again, Lily looked a bit puzzled.

“Young master, you’re acting so strange today. You usually love candied fruit the most.”

Olivia Miller had no choice but to open his mouth.

“Young master is so good.”

After finishing this feeding session, Lily suddenly remembered something and nervously said to Olivia Miller, “Young master, where did you put the jade pendant? Take it out, please.”

“The jade pendant is kept very safe.”

He thought to himself, “Looks like I need to get some money soon and redeem that jade pendant.”

Lily still seemed uneasy and gently tried to persuade Olivia Miller to take out the jade pendant, but Olivia Miller just shook his head.

After a while, she saw her young master crawl under the bed and pull out a rolling pin.

She had seen this rolling pin yesterday and just thought boys liked to play with sticks.

The next moment, Olivia Miller said something that shocked her—“Yesterday, someone used this to hit my head.”

By candlelight, master and maid exchanged glances, each with different thoughts.

Olivia Miller had thought about it all day before deciding to tell Lily what happened.

On one hand, he needed Lily to tell him what had happened before the incident; on the other, although he trusted this maid, he still wanted to see her reaction.

Lily was truly startled.

Yesterday, the second madam of the western residence had called her over, saying she’d picked out some patterns to make clothes for the young master to wear at his wedding. When she came back, she’d felt something was off with the young master—so this was what had happened!

Olivia Miller narrowed his eyes slightly and saw that the little maid in front of him already had tears sparkling in her eyes.

Then, Lily, looking heartbroken, pulled him into her arms.

“Young master... wuwu...”
